I HATE feeling so powerless to do anything for someone that we care so much about..... :(

On the downside this means I gotta re-read 200 samples

Well......Bright side, Jyessss: at least you are not fingering your way through stool stamples, or peering into the infamous Big Orange Jugs. . .....

On the upside I've just figured out that all the RNA in my freezer (the Punisher) isn't crap. We were having a technical difficulty that distorted the readings.

same here.....the samples in my freezer - the sperm, frozen eggs, different strains of viruses I found on those mops - all okay!!!!!!

<snort>

It was a production....I had it professionally straightened every few months at a salon for years. The problem with it was that the chemicals used were very strong and over time it caused a lot of breakage--even though only the re-growth was treated. I decided to stop when a section broke off at my scalp, causing what looked like a bald spot.

The sad thing is that I've been thinking about doing it again :lol:

Must admit I was a bit mean to a boy today.

I was working lunch duty....have I ever told you how much I hate lunch duty.

The principal feels we should not restrict their LOUD talking.......which naturally leads to yelling, screeching and out of control behavior.

Anyhoo........some kids were telling on this boy cuz I guess he dumped corn on his head and he was smiling while they were tattling on him........he's always trying to get away with stupid sh!t during lunch........I'd had it with him.

Soooooo.....I went over to him and said....."If you think they're laughing at you because your so amazingly funny, they're not. They're laughing at you because they think you are stupid, so knock it off!"

Was that too awfully bad of me?

finding a spider on oneself or - in one's bed - - almost nothign more horrifying. Oh - except finding a large, winged insect on oneself.........like a big cicada...........or a cricket or a grasshopper (do they have wings?

Hi Jyan-knit!......Dang!!!!.....What kinda mulch ya got?.......Can smell it all the way over here!

Whilst I was MIA . . . Smackl got his Blue Belt. JoDog got her stitches out. Skeeter got to go horseback riding on the neighbor's horse. (We "visited" the horse for almost three hours  ) There are now 10 cubic yards of mulch blocking our garage. There appear to be three trees kickin' the bucket in the back yard. Our frog has run away. Aphids are already infesting my honeysuckle. I have to help unload a truckload of flowers at school tomorrow . . . I have to be there at 6 am :o WIH was I thinking.

.........sounds like a good start for a country song ;)

Are you sure the frog ran away?????..........no Great Blues makin late night fly-bys for frog leg snacks?

Right now I am reading Koontz' Odd Hours. It's the fourth book about Odd Thomas. So far not nearly as good as the last 3, but still enjoyable. Love Koontz. YOu never know what you're going to get with him.....

Yes....I love Koontz too.........does that make us a little.........I dunno..............warped? I'm behind on the Odd Thomas.......I think I've only read the first.......have the second one here in my pile somewhere..........I buy a gazillion books at garage sales, so they usually aren't the most recent ones.

Someone said...."Who is ever happy wif there hair?"........NOT ME!.......Gonna get curls put back in when I have the money.......but a little less curly than in the past, Mebe more like.....wavy.

Hi all. I'm around, just haven't been much psilly. Been reading along on yahoo e-mail--which really loses something in the translation!

Emily, so glad to hear your dad is doing well, and sounding quite jovial.

Locusts :o Isn't that, like, a sign 'er sumfin?

Twas de Shroom, not moi. Shroom is a sidler lurker quiet observer of dis kwayziness.

Don't feel too bad about that kid. He probably cried deserved it.

I nearly had to choke throw my neihbor out on 'er ear this evening. She's a nice, but rather pathetic woman. She is much older than I am, which makes it even more pathetic that she's always hanging around here. She only comes down to hide her smoking, gossip, and grill me for information about the other neihbors. She pounds on my door tonight (when I was actually trying to read along wif you'se  ). Talkin' trash about my other neihbors and makin' political statements that I do not agree with and that her husband force feeds her. I could nae take it one...moment...longer. I just spewed some wretched truth in her face and saw shock and awe register there. Twas quite satisfying, let me tell you. She left shortly after (shame, that), but not before saying she was going to call her husband to have him explain her unfounded and unsolicited political reference to me.

All that judgement and finger pointing , and the miserable beech bag of wind never ONCE asked about us. Bah!

My daughter is having a sleep over tonight with her friends, twin girls age 10 1/2. These girls (at least one of them) already have, well, NUBS--you know what I'm sayin', ladies??? And their mom has already explained about de birdies and bees.

Yikes. Looks like I have to break out "The Care and Keeping of You" book I've been hiding in me closet for this very talk  Hold me, Sils! My baby is growing up :(

What grade is your daughter in?

We got 4th and 5th graders that are bustin out all over the place..........puttin me to shame already......course, that ain't sayin much

You need to talk to her about any slang and derrogatory comments, too.........you won't believe the things they hear on the bus! :o

I knew of a couple of 4th graders that were sexually active......she eventually got preggers in the 8th grade.

But not to worry........you'll be fine! ;)

I am doing a gluten challenge right now and I bought vital wheat gluten so I can know exactly how much gluten I am getting. One tablespoon is 7g so 1½ tablespoons of Vital Wheat Gluten per day will get you to 10g You could add it to bean burgers as a binder or add to hot chocolate or apple sauce and stir.

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.
