YAY, Patteigh! This sounds like the perfect way to bring up kids -- relaxed with boundaries. And it certainly helps if DH is completely on board... . . .the odd time Will and I disagree on kid matters (he is more strict than I), but a happy medium is reached, and what the hell, our two are not out setting fires, beating up other kids or carving someone's initials on their arms... . .. . ..think we're okay...

Looked around my house & most of my paintings do not have glass on them. Only the small ones & the ones in dark corners. Wasn't that smart of me? Also, all mirrors are of the waist up varity so you cannot see your bum.

This is ingenious, Kherrighnne. I think I need to hang ALL of my mirrors about six inches from the ceiling - - therefore, I would myself see from the nose up. My eyes are okay, and I have decent cheekbones. NO, WAIT!.... . . ... . . . ....... .I have crappy hair.... . . .hmm. P'raps NO reflective surfaces.... . . ..

I always gain weight in the summer because of all of the fruit I eat. They're called "personal" watermelons, but I really don't think they're meant to be eaten by one person in one sitting :P

Mygawd... . ..... . never heard of these....Little, personal watermelons? Like a personal pizza? Strikes me as quite phunny, somehow. . . . . .. ... .

HAHAHAHAHAHA! How are you this clever this early in the morning? Oh wait, different time zones :P

I wish that were true! I always gain weight in the summer because of all of the fruit I eat. They're called "personal" watermelons, but I really don't think they're meant to be eaten by one person in one sitting :P

I'm clever in any time zone! ;)

When we were kids, we got the locally grown giagantic watermelons. Cut them in 5 chunks (1 for each person) & eat that huge piece at one sitting. I'm sure there must have been some bathroom reprecussions but I don't remember.

So M, the 14 year old, is working on his Boy Scout badge "Family Life". He had to discuss family finances with us then he will have to tell a merit badge counselor what he learned. His dad said, " Tell them that in this ecomomy, we have had to lay off 2 gardeners, 1 house maid, and the baker. The poor cook is reduced to baking without wheat flour."

True dat! :P And having actually met your kids, I can honestly say they are both intelligent, funny, and absolutely delightful. :D

 My Jack is in cub scouts, and had to cook the family a meal in order to earn this very same badge, I believe. He put two frozen pizzas in the oven - - one gluten-free, the other one not - - and did NOT earn it. <_<

You got that right! ;)

I've seen those. They're pretty small. By the time you cut off the rind, I can't believe there would be too much left. I'm sure I could eat it in one sitting.

Patti, I'm sending you one Skeeter and one Smackl via UPS. Don't worry, I've poked holes in the box and written "Fragile" on it. I'm sure they'll make the trip just fine.

I live in Kansas. We have tornado parties - pack up snacks, drinks, pillows & head to the basement.Last tornado season, the weather station was tracking one that stayed up in the clouds. It was directly over one of the boys friend's house & they were texting each other about it. :P

Well, thankfully nothing happened. It's still pretty dark, but the warning has expired.

I (we) were consistent about many things from an early age--among them--school work/home work, drugs, honesty, respect for others and their belongings, fair play--ya know, don't be a jerk.

Oh yes, definitely those. And be yourself.....don't follow the crowd.

I need everyone's expert advice. DH and I had been planning a trip to New Orleans in early July. We have not booked anything yet, and now that this horrific oil spill in the Gulf has occurred and there seems to be no end in the near future... . . ..well, we are re-considering. We would be going down for the incredible seafood, the touristy sights of the Gulf of Mexico and the Mississippi River (which have been and/or could be horribly desecrated by this disaster), all the sights and smells of the American South (again, badly affected).. . .. ....and, of course, the incredible music, which will always be there!

The tourist industry in NO has already felt the brunt of this - - I've been on a few websites of B&Bs and small hotels in the city, and they have closed for reservations until further notice.

What would you guys do? Would you still head down there? We are casting our eyes to the near south - - I would LOVE to see Chicago. We won't have time nor the funds, likely, to do the southwest (I'll get there one day, Sooozle and Judy)! and we were out west last summer (missed you, Jyesss - - next time!)... . ....just dunno. . .... . ...

That oil spill... . . . ....so horrific.. . . . ... :(

Hmmmm, come to Oahu wif us in August..... ;)

Always wanted to go to Chicago too, early July would probably be good too, not too hot yet. Have you looked at any travel boards re: New Orleans to see what people have posted of recent trips down there (since the spill)? It might still be OK....

How'd the Open House go? Anyone besides the neighbors come by? If you don't sell, does the company buy the house? Or are you stuck in TX for the duration? I hate selling houses. I think I'll stay in this house forever. Then the kids will have to deal with it. :P

A couple came by for the second time. No idea what they're thinking. Yep, I'm here until it sells....Don't think I'm ever doing this again.....

Many years ago yes, after eating and going to bed, apparently my esophagus filled with food that my body rejected, the esophagus would lay against the Heart sack (pericardium?) and the heart would respond by becoming arrhythmic. That went away with the strict diet.

I was commenting on the report saying it did not mention migraines! Yes it does last paragraph says have not seen any evidence that Celiac cause migraines! I thought this was about truth?
    • trents
It has been known for some years that celiacs suffer from migraines at a higher rate than the general populatation. It is an established symptom.
