As for drinking games, I will take 'em any day over strip poker, eshpeshially when one is l - o - s - i - n - g :rolleyes: at poker :o

then on to the hospital for Terry's cardiology appt.

I think I told you guys he was having tests on his heart - well today was the results of his cardiac MRI.

The doc said it showed that Terry HAS HAD several heart attacks

What the french toast?!?!?!

I have actually took him to the ER many times over the years with chest pain - but it was dismissed as indigestion/arthritis of the ribs etc

The doc said it was quite unusual as he has NO furring of the arteries <_<

He thinks it's either the drugs for his arthritis have caused it, OR, a virus, OR caused by electrolyte/salt imbalances when he was very ill/thin pre dx of celiac disease.

Whatever the cause he has to start an drug to help his heart pump better <_<

Holey smoley, Knickas, what is going on with Tel?? That really stinks :angry: Hope the new med helps him pump harder - or bettah, as the case may be...

American and Canuck quarters are the same size.. . ...dunno about weight, howevah. .. ..... . ..

I may have more success if I were to roll a loonie or toonie down me nose.. ....lots of extra weight/drag there... .. . ..

Well, this is encouraging: just announced on the local news that the Salvation Army "cooling shelters" will be open tomorrow. They open when the heat index is 105 by 11 am.

Had the sales guy out to tell me what it would cost to replace the A/C and heating. WOW! :o

I was in Kansas once :rolleyes: 101 at midnight. :huh: Peeps we was staying with had no air con in house or car :o We died :P

Bagheera walked on the table during dinner. He keeps wanting to eat from our plates. We are trying to teach him that this is a no-no. :(

With the very phluphy MissEm a water pistol worked wonders. Breeders hubby thought it was too cute for her to be on da table at dinnertime - we did NOT. However, she will still only eat when we are with her watching - goes running to kitchen every time one of us goes there, and has a nibble.

Rah-shyellle, you must have to time your meal consumption carefully when you're on shift. I wouldn't want to have just eaten a nice big lunch before I examined THAT bloke.. . . . . .....

Especially not if she had had balls for lunch :blink:

Made a thrilling entrance to Incline Village last night :blink: After unpacking the luggage and hauling all the stuph from the garage, ran out of wind, literallly :unsure: Ended up with atrial fib. and unable to catch my breath, no oxygen getting to my brain, a neighbor helped Clay walk me to da car, and spent several hours in ER with repeat EKG's, blood tests, IV meds until it all passed over. If I had been at home t'would not have been a crisis, but since I am not altitude adjusted yet my heart was not pumping very effectively at all. What is it about psoriatic arthritis and poorly pumping hearts??? Tel and I would make a good pair. They could not believe that it all just cleared up and I am phine today. Still, have an urgent call in to my PCP for a visit and cardiac referral, which was one of my goals here anyway. At least he will now know why I is coming to see him :ph34r:

My goodness, our new Kween hath mighty powers indeed! Best stay in favor in the Royal Court if you want some solid ground under your tootsies.

Shroooomie! Lord, I feel I must inform you that your shortness of breath scare had NOTHING to do with my royal ascension -- honestly... . . ... ...while I may be able to get in touch with powers-that-be who could arrange this, I would nevah inflict this on a fellow psilly.

Shromie- How scary! You'll get used to the altitude quickly. I used to love to go up to Tahoe when it was 105 in the valley.

So, I've got a little boy who has taken to lying about EVERYTHING. He has been grounded, spanked-which doesn't work, I even took his birthday away, which he now has to "earn back" by not lying....What do I do???? My dd went thru this phase around the same time, but it was nuphin like this, and he's SOOOOOO bad at it. He must think I'm stupid if he thinks I would actually believe what's coming out of his mouth. It's gotten so bad that he even lied 1/2 asleep this morning when I woke him up... Me, "Are you wearing clean underwear after your shower last night?" Him, "Uh, yeah..." The kid was wearing NO underwear. GAHHHHHHHH!!!

Any advice?

Actually, Rey-schell, the boys (M, J & hub) are wondering if you have any new dessert recipes we could try out for you. J prefers chocolate but the rest of us like more flavors. I have 2 cookie recipes they and their friends love. They did like the choc cake very much.

I'll see what I can come up with. Do you like orange? Just came up wif a KILLER orange cake wif orange buttercream frosting. Twould seem like too much orange perhapse, yet it tastes like a creamsicle!

Did they convert you out of the afib, did you convert by yourself or are you still in it??? Has this happened before? Have you had an echocardiogram to check the size of your heart, specifically the atria? If you're still in it, do they have you on a blood thinner?

It's strange why folks feel the need to lie about things that don't even matter :unsure: Yep, needs to be nicked in de bud.

I converted by myself, I believe, :rolleyes: because the IV metoprolol had no effect on EKG after 10 mins. Yep, has happened before - I usually convert after max of 3-4 hours. Never knew it was afib before, just thought ectopic beats and tachycardia. Echocardiogram was on my agenda along with cardiac consult before this happened. My "dimer" wa normal so no blood thinner. I wonder about the lectin problem I have, since lectin is a hemaglutin although to my knowledge had consumed no suspect lectins :o .

Rey-schell, he seems like a smart kid (maybe too smart). My kids tried to pull something & still occasionally try, I'ld ask them something to show them I was on to them. Like "show me the underwear". Then we would laugh and get the clean undies. Other one gets caught and feels bad but I don't think that's yours. If it gets too bad, hub is good with the making them feel guilty. He asks all kinds of stuff like "how will this help". " What is the next step". Very frustrating. I think I would sit him down when you are not mad and have a frank discussion with examples of the lying. He may not even know that he is lying, thus some examples. Tell him he has been lying about stupid stuff that doesn't matter. If he forgot the under wear, don't lie, just say fix it. Mom don't get upset, just make him fix the problem. He's 5, he can't remember everything nor understand (or care) why he should have clean undies.

That's my mom lecture for you...yes, we love orange!

Hi all....huge thunderstorm last night and yea!! I don't have to water the lawn :P Just made it steamier, though, if that's at all possible. <_<

Heard from me son that they're having a heat wave in Jersey--they had better get that out of their system now :lol:;)

Rash-elle....could Max be lying so as to avoid perceived consequences? I always told my kids that they could tell me anything, and as long as they were honest we would work it out--and I kept my promise. It started very early on and to this day we still have that kind of back and forth.

I dunno--he could also be trying to test you to see how much you will believe.

Shroomie--you you feelin' today? :) Interesting theory about lectins being implicated somehow--I swear that white rice or things made primarily of white rice cause my heart to go nuts. I've strictly avoided it since that last time and so far, so good. <phingerscrossed>

I also find that mixed with stress, the effect worsens.

Yes, This is exactly why. I've tried to explain, calmly, that if he tells the truth, he won't be in trouble, but if he lies, there will be LOTS of trouble. It will be a long weekend, I'm sure!

A friend of mine was lied to by her daughter. The next day they went out on errands and my friend kept saying how they'd stop for ice cream at the end. After all the errands were done, they went home. Her daughter said "what about ice cream?" to which my friend replied "I lied. How does it feel to be lied to?" and thence followed the discussion about why you don't lie....

I had talked to his teachers this morning when I dropped him off about it and about 9am I got a call from them. I was thinking-Oh crap, now what did he do? But they were actually calling me to tell me that they thought he had pink eye--came on suddenly cuz he was fine this morning.... :rolleyes: I went over to take a look at him, told them his allergies were out of control, he's constantly rubbing his eyes and like the great mom I am, I forgot to give him his Claritin last night. They said, take him out of the school and he can't come back until the dr clears him for pink eye. Guess what the dr said...Allergic congunctivitis :rolleyes: My poor secretary was babysitting him while I was in and out seeing patients for about 2 hours. They did this once to me with dd. Said she had chicken pox, must take her away immediately. They were clearly little tiny hives, but they made me take her out anyway. Oh well, it's good that they're thorough, just a pain when it's my kid :P

I'm on call tonight thru Sunday morning. Hope this isn't an indication of my weekend.... :huh:

This week has been very slow at work. It seems like everybody has left town. The store is about 6.5 miles due north of the battle zone G20 Summit site, and the downtown area is in virtual lockdown.

The G8 leaders are meeting now about 135 miles north of here. I guess that means we only have a G12 here. :blink:

I just have to share this with the psillies. We have been at our current store location since September 2006. For that entire time, there has been a derelict car in the parking area across the street. The plates on it expired in 2004.

Overnight last night, somebody decided to express an opinion about it.

CRAP!!!! THAT'S WHERE I LEFT MY CAR!!!!!

Hey kiddos, back home. Laundry and grocery shopping today. Not much time to catch up but some of you guys are scarin' me (Shroom and Tel) . . . so stop it!!! . . . hope you get yerselfs some answers and appropriate medical attention.

Jess . . . LOVE that ice cream story and will keep it in mind for future reference. Has not been too much of an issue here . . . and hope it won't be. Skeeter is more likely to lie than Smackl which is hard for me to wrap my head around . . . I was always the straight arrow and me brothers were always evil causing trouble.

      What kind of practitioner did the blood test? Was this a medical doctor, a naturopathic doctor, a GI doc? I would certainly follow up with them and ask why they advised you not to eat red meat. I mean, it could be something like they, themselves, are a vegetarian and give that advice to everyone. Have you had an endoscopy with biopsy of the small bowel...

Look into Oral Allergy Syndrome which can occur at a higher rate in Celiac Disease. Switching to a low histamine diet for a while can give your body time to rid itself of...

When I was 16, I had my gallbladder removed when I was 24 I was put on a medication because I was told I had fibromyalgia. going to Doctor’s over many years, not one of them thought to check me out for celiac disease.       @xxnonamexx, There's labeling on those Trubar gluten free high fiber protein bars that say: "Manufactured in a facility that also processes peanuts, milk, soy, fish, WHEAT, sesame, and other tree nuts." You may want to avoid products made in shared facilities.   If you are trying to add more fiber to your diet to ease constipation, considering eating more leafy green vegetables and cruciferous vegetables.  Not only are these high in fiber, they also are good sources of magnesium.  Many newly diagnosed are low in magnesium and B vitamins and suffer with constipation.  Thiamine Vitamin B1 and magnesium work together.  Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine has been shown to improve intestinal health.  Thiamine and magnesium are important to gastrointestinal health and function.

      Welcome to celiac.com @sha1091a! Your experience is a very common one. Celiac disease is one the most underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed medical conditions out there. The reasons are numerous. One key one is that its symptoms mimic so many other diseases. Another is ignorance on the part of the medical community with regard to the range of symptoms that celiac disease can produce. Clinicians often are only looking for classic GI symptoms and are unaware of the many other subsystems in the body that can be damaged before classic GI symptoms manifest, if ever they do. Many celiacs are of the "silent" variety and have few if any GI symptoms while all along, damage is being done to their bodies. In my case, the original symptoms were elevated liver enzymes which I endured for 13 years before I was diagnosed with celiac disease. By the grace of God my liver was not destroyed. It is common for the onset of the disease to happen 10 years before you ever get a diagnosis. Thankfully, that is slowly changing as there has developed more awareness on the part of both the medical community and the public in the past 20 years or so. Blessings!

I am aware that it only started being tested by bloodwork I believe in the late 90s, but still I’m kind of confused why my gallbladder my joint pain flatulent that I complained of constantly was totally ignored. Is it not something that is taught to our medical system? It wasn’t a Doctor Who asked for the test to be done. I asked for it because of something I had read and my test came back positive. My number was quite high.Are there other people out here that had this kind of problems and they were ignored?

      Welcome to celiac.com, @EndlessSummer! Do you react to all vegetables or just specific kinds or families of them? What you describe with green beans sounds like it has an anaphylaxis component. Like you, walnuts are a problem for me. They will often give me a scratchy throat so I try to avoid them. Does it matter if the vegies are raw or will-cooked in how you react to them?
