I'm organizing a closet, getting things together for Goodwill, and waiting fer the second round of "professionals" to come look at the window (much less leakage but still wet on the top edge after it rained the last couple days.

Rain has stopped--crisp and cool fer a change B)

When M was in kindergarden, he took a boys only tap dance class. Loved it! Problem was that the next step was a class with mostly " pink girls". Wouldn't take a class with a bunch of pink tutus.

J thinks it's bad enough that the kid is in gymnastics, I'd love to see his face if I enrolled Max in a dance class! :P

Maddie starts volleyball today! So excited!!

I'm working at keeping my eyes tightly closed so that I don't see the dirty dishes, laundry, dust . . .

Lots of kid drama around here, wears me out.

When I was a kid, I liked school. Now, I count down the days as much as my son. We have an appt with the pedDr tomorrow. We are going to try meds for Smackl. He's scoring high on ADD this year. We're working harder than ever on school work at home and I'm expecting mostly C's when the report card comes home. Don't get me wrong, C's for C-level effort are one thing, C's when you're busting your arse is something else. It's putting a strain on all of us. (And before anybody suggests it, we tried a trial diet for 6 months)

We go back to Cinti Children's Hospital with Skeeter on Monday for a follow-up . . . I have no expectations <_< . . . I will say that things seem to be improving very slowly on their own. I'm coming to believe that that is just the way she is. When she was first diagnosed, it took 10 months for all symptoms to completely resolve. We are at about the 10-month mark from when I discovered the chips she was eating had barley in them. I just didn't think that it would take the same amount of time to get back to normal for an error that was very much a small/intermittent transgression. We'll see.

Other than that, I think we are getting the old deck (which is sinking) torn out and a paver patio installed. It may or may not included a firepit. I, unlike Jess, am not ambitious or handy and will be paying someone else a car load of money to do it.

Sorry Jan-it--you really have yer hands phull :( I'll keep good thoughts fer Skeeter and Smackl :)

I do vote fer the phire pit, though. We had plans to do the very same thing in TexAss--even bought a beautiful brass pit that is now in storage <_< I was looking forward to toasting marshmallows....

Man, youse guys is all tres occupees. . . . . ...... ... I am tired just reading the last few posts!

Hmmm. . . . ..report on my day. . . . . . ....... . ..well, I can add something from the pages of an esteemed member of the Sandwich Generation - - this is not an exclusive club......I know some here have memberships as well.... . .

Fortunately, I did not have work today. I took my mom to her physio, her denturist and then the grocery store for her foodstuffs. These necessary errands eat up a remarkable amount of time... .. . ....however, my mom has nothing but time, and me, well....I'm happy to make the time.

Now, what else have I done today. . . . . .. .....well, I was having coffee with my mom and for whatever the reason I suddenly began to think about Jyessss's civckebs. I realized that no mention of them has been made for some time, and I began to wonder if Jyessss still has them. I actually pondered this aloud......."I wonder if Jess, the heelarious, mathy science Psilly, still has her chickens?" My mother paused and then said, "Well, you need to ask her". There was another long pause and then she said, "I would never own a chicken. Those birds always look pissed off. There are enough pissed-off faces around the sitting room downstairs, here".

 Didn't you say the very same thing, Patteigh? Chickens looking mad as hell. . . . . ........

Chickens do swear. I think most of what they say is completely unprintable.

'k my day:

Up at 2am (not on purpose) petted Lyle, petted Bo, collected the trash (trash day), got dressed, fed the civkebs, took out trash, walked 1.3 miles to the bus stop, bus to boat, studied on the boat, 20 min walk uphill to work, dumped stuff at my desk, woke up the guy sleeping on the floor of the lab (don't ask), took shuttle to school, walked ~ 1 mile to the gym, 20 min bike, 45 min weights, shower 'n' change, walk up hill to class, 80 minutes of stat class, walked to the bookstore to buy text book, shuttle to work, snack/lunch, walked to PT appt and back, sat chatting with my technician about how weird the people we work with are, call from Blue eyes   , and here I am.

Compared to that, I did nothing.

I sent about 70 emails to get people to vote for my kids' robotics team to get funding from Chlorox. Was pointed out to me that I had left a letter out of the link. Agghh! Had to bother the poor people again to add the letter A to the link. I hate these "vote if we should give them money" things. Don't know if I can put it on here as it is a blatant ad for Chlorox products but I put it on FB. Anyone who wants to vote daily for this month can message me & I'll tell them how. Just add a letter A. :)

Civckebs do look pissed off - you only have to look at Ravenwoodglass's Av :P Think my little bro was attacked by one once - he would never go near the henhouse

call from Blue eyes   ,

Think we got ourselves a blossoming ROMANCE here ;)

Well, my past two days have been phun .... my daughter stayed home with a stomach bug yesterday, she got sick the day before .... I was lucky enough to catch it from her, but not soon enuf to get a sub for teaching pilateeess. Fortunately, my wonderful daughter (after a slight guilt trip from her phather) showed up to teach my third class.

Felt horrible still this morning, but got my hair cut, and well, that fixed everything, just a little tired now. :)

So, no phull day like Jess!!! But I get to teach for three hours tomorrow morning. :D

Can you please post a photo of him as your av, Jyesssss? He'd be fine with it, I'm sure... . . . . ...

Now I'm just gonna go call my mom, tell her that Jyesss does indeed still have her chickens. . . . . ......

Yes, I think this will require VERY careful handling :rolleyes:

Very gently ... many more dates, LOL! He would probably take it hard if he learned he was misspelling his whole life, words like psilly and phun and all .....

I am so tired it's rediculous! And I have my long workout tonight. Drinking my 2nd latte hoping it will rile (right spelling??) me up! But I'll sleep in a bit tomorrow and thinking about letting the son stay at daycare after school so I have a few more hours to myself--I don't feel guilty cuz he's always mad at me when I pick him up because he'd rather be at daycare than be with me <_<

I WANT COOKIES!!!!!

CarlaB Enthusiast

What kind of workout?

celiac-mommy Collaborator

What kind of workout?

Tonight is 25 miles on the bike, 20 minutes of hula-hooping (10 min in each direction) and 20 min of Ashtanga yoga just to stretch out and loosen up to get ready for my 90 min session tomorrow. I'm exhausted just thinking about it!! But I should have at least 2 hours of Netflix DVDs to watch to keep me occupied ;)

plant sources of calcium, such as spinach, have calcium bound to oxalates, which is not good. best source of calcium is unfortunately dairy, do you tolerate dairy? fermented dairy like kefir is good and or a little hard cheese. i do eat dairy, i can only take so much dietary restriction and gluten is hard enough! but i guess some people do have bad reactions to it, so different for everyone.

i take b12, folate, b2, b6, glycine, Nac, zinc, vk2 mk4, magnesium, coq10, pqq, tmg, creatine, omega 3, molybdnem (sp) and just started vit d. quite a list i know.  I have high homocysteine (last checked it was 19, but is always high and i finally decided to do something about it) and very low vitamin d, 10. have been opposed to this supp in the past, but going to try it at 5k units a day. having a pth test on friday, which is suspect will be high. my homocysteine has come down to around 9 with 3 weeks of these supplements and expect it to go down further. i also started on estrogen/progesterone. I have osteoporosis too, so that is why the hormones.  anyway, i think all celiacs should have homocysteine checked and treated if needed (easy enough with b vit, tmg). homocysteine very bad thing to be high for a whole host of reasons. all the bad ones, heart attack , stroke, alzi, cancer..... one of the most annoying things about celiacs (and there are so many!) is the weight gain. i guess i stayed thin all those years being undiagnosed because i was under absorbing everything including calories. going gluten-free and the weight gain has been terrible, 30#, but i'm sure a lot more went into that (hip replacement - and years of hip pain leading to inactivity when i was previously very active, probably all related to celiacs, menopause) yada yada. i seemed to lose appetite control, like there was low glp, or leptin or whatever all those hormones are that tell you that you are full and to stop eating. my appetite is immense and i'm never full. i guess decades or more ( i think i have had celiacs since at least my teens - was hospitalized for abdominal pain and diarrhea for which spastic colon was eventually diagnosed and had many episodes of diarrhea/abdominal pain through my 20's. but that symptom seemed to go away and i related it to dairy much more so than gluten. Also my growth was stunted, i'm the only shorty in my family. anyway, decades of malabsorption and maldigestion led to constant hunger, at least thats my theory. then when i started absorbing normally, wham!! FAT!!!

Great advise there I agree with the aniexty part, and the aura migraine has I suffer both, I've also read some great books that have helped I'm going too look the one you mentioned up too thankyou for that, I find a camomile tea just a small one and a gentle wind down before bed has helped me too, I suffer from restless leg syndrome and nerve pain hence I don't always sleep well at the best of times , racing mind catches up I have decorated my whole house in one night in my mind before 🤣 diet changes mindset really help , although I have to say it never just disappears, I find once I came to terms with who I am I managed a lot better  , a misconception is for many to change , that means to heal but that's not always the case , understanding and finding your coping mechanisms are vital tools , it's more productive to find that because there is no failure then no pressure to become something else , it's ok to be sad it's ok to not sleep , it's ok to worry , just try to see it has a journey not a task 🤗
    • nanny marley
I agree there I've tryed this myself to prove I can't eat gluten or lactose and it sets me back for about a month till I have to go back to being very strict to settle again
    • trents
You may also need to supplement with B12 as this vitamin is also involved in iron assimilation and is often deficient in long-term undiagnosed celiac disease.
