Sounds like we must all flee to Jess's. Move over chickies.

I would prefer the purple diaper, myself. If you are requiring them.

I'm headed to Jess' . . . currently 100 here . . . was still in the 90's last night at 9pm.

Hi, Leeeesargh! :D

They will pound on the door until the neighbors call the police I'm afraid!

He has spoken to them a few times and they seemed pretty intent on camping out on our floor tonight.

Manna....these people just sound freaking nuts.

No real advice here, sorry to say.... . ....just sympathy, and feelings of relief are washing over me as I realize that there are folks whose MILs are more challenging than mine.....

Holy crap! Canada is supposed to be cold all the time, being the great WHITE NORTH and all.

It got to 99.2 F in Ottawa today. SOOOO humid I felt like I was trying to make my way through a vat of hot syrup.....just haynus (speaking of Sooooozle)!

All right, my modem is fried  and we are suddenly changing internet providers. This is also somewhat haynus, as I will be needing to let ALL of my contacts know of my email address change.. .. ....crap. So get ready to change my addy, Psills -- I'll be getting the new modem/router thingy on Saturday, and will send out the thousand heads-up messages then. . . .. . ....

This is actually quite nice, however......sitting in the quiet, cool, dim public library computer room, typing away on the city desktops....no teenagers yelling "where's my phone??" or " MOM! Jack will not give me the ketchup!!" or, "Mom, I need these pants taken in by this aft!!"

Yeah.. . ..nice.......

You know, a stapler works good for that.

Ah, cooler temperatures. At six, it had dropped to 99F, and the seven o'clock reading is 97. Still bloody hot. And extremely humid to boot.

kareng Grand Master

At 6:30 it was 104 plus humidity of 45%. Great night for a Lacrosse game! I shall melt, just watching.

I told M to volunteer to bring the pet rodents home for the weekend from the day vamp he is working at. I can't bear to think of the poor things in the heat. I will drive to the camp ( usually he takes a bus) to rescue the poor GP, ferret & chinchilla.

I'll be right up there! It's after 10 PM and it's 91 degrees here with very high humitdity. It's supposed to be 100 degrees tommorrow and a 101 on Saturday.

ILs are all settled in a hotel for the night and it only took 2 hours to convince them that it was in their best interest to stay there. FIL complained about the hotel from the minute we said hello (we met them at the hotel because we wanted to make sure they stayed there instead of trying to come to us). They are in a nice suite with a kitchenette because it was actually cheaper than most of the other places that are not booked. We live in a touristy area, it's peak season and there is some kind of convetion in town. Finding them a room at all was a challenge. Anyway, FIL wanted something cheaper (it's $99 for a suite which is actually a STEAL in the area they are staying) and wanted to start just driving to other places asking about prices. There are several hotels on the same strip of road that he could see from his hotel and he wanted to go see if they were cheaper. I quoted him the prices for every hotel on the strip (most were $160 or more and a few were booked solid). They reluctantly checked in and took stuff up to the room all the while FIL is complaining about everything from the fact that the hotel seems really busy (they were lucky to get a room at all and the parking lot was pretty full) to the fact they were on the second floor and had to take an elevator. Once in the room the complaining about the hotel price starts all over and FIl wants to leave and go look for a better option. We offer to pay for the hotel but they won't let us. I had to get out my laptop and actually show him prices of other nearby hotels to get him to believe the area we are in is that much. MIL was actually quite impressed with the hotel and liked it a lot (it is a very nice chain in a good neighborhood and has a five star rating on hotels.com). The staff at this hotel was amazing. I've never seen a staff so friendly to people that were loudly saying how much they didn't want to stay there and complaining before they even checked in. I have worked a hotel front desk before so I know how hard that is to be that helpful and friendly to people that are being jerks. I'm going to put in a positive review for this place and we didn't even stay there!

Oh, and I almost forgot the best part! Just as we were leaving, MIL gave me a bag of spelt flour! Doh! I bit my lip and resisted trying to explain to her that spelt has gluten and I can't have it either. If I had tried to explain (for the 100th time) why I can't have that we would have been there another hour. It's late and I still have lots to do to prepare for tommorrow.

Should be doing something but its too hot to move! Which got me thinking about the hot move GFM is having.

Wondering - Have the ILs melted yet?

- What of the trailer full of junk?

- Will gluteny or dairy foods sneak into new house?

- Has FIL made peace with the hotel?

Beware the chickens injected with salt water! (Not jess's fluffies, but the supermarket varieties) Seriously, are you instructing your dad on which brands of chicken have no added sodium?

They're almost as dangerous as inlaws bearing "gifts" of poison and clutter.

Good point. I was going to tell him to get the kind at the butcher counter. At the grocery he goes to, they have nothing injected.

kareng Grand Master

Still no GFM sitings. Did not see anything on the news about IL killings. Maybe they haven't found the bodies? Maybe they don't have Internet access at the Funny Farm?

Ok...I refuse to believe it went smoothly.. That would not be as interesting.

I thought she might be without internet for a while. Or perhaps too soused by the end of the day to know how to type.

I had some steak for breakfast, and there was a lot of juice left on the plate, so I mixed it with some quinoa flour, and stirred it up with chunks of fat I had cut off the meat. It looked like something that would be really tasty if deep-fried. :P Gave the big girls their share and brought the rest out to the teenage chicks. Chickens are suspicious of most new food, so I thought it might take a while for them to try it, but it turns out they make an exception for fresh steak. :D They were on me before I even started scooping it out.

About half of them grabbed a chunk, and the other half chased them around. The little silkie sat happily nipping the flour coating and ignoring the big chunks. I left them to figure it out, and a few minutes later I heard loud honking. The Brahma, who honks like a goose, apparently got the last piece, 'cause she was racing around making her muffled 'neener-neener' honk and the entire pack was chasing her.

That's today's episode of "Chicken TV". Don't forget to tune in for tomorrow's adventure.

kareng Grand Master

Some day, I'm going to get some chickens. I never knew they were such fun.

Forgot that GFM might be off line. Really she should go to the library & send an update. The carrier pidgeon or chicken never made it here.

She probably used a silkie - I'm tellin' ya, they can't fly. It'll take forever for those tiny little legs to get to your house.

We have 4 hungry fox to feed.

The 2 young fox are really bold. I guess being born & raised around us humans has them a bit use to us. They will sit with 10 feet & a fence between them and my dog. Coop & the fox have decided to ignore each other. Sometimes they come to the back fence & watch him. They were sitting on my neighbors small front porch. They were laying - 1 in the street & 1 on the sidewalk when another neighbor was trying to run. They didn't move.

I told my family that we may have to scare them. Being so bold will get them killed around here.

J must take an online "Sex and Alcohol" class before he can go to his college. One of the assignments is to make a list of your Sex & Alcohol goals for college. One of his goals is no babies. :o

Hmm..... . ..not quite sure how I would have organized my Sex and Alcohol Goals List as a university student were I to have needed to create one..... . ........ . . .

It likely would have looked like this:

SEX -- YES

ALCOHOL -- YES

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
