My thumb or Poeter's thumb

the drapes in the kitchen are an orange coloUr. I don't think I have anything in my wardrobe that matches them. I will try and wear something that will clash nicely with them though.

How true Patti. I'm mostly wear blues and purples although not always together. Our wallpaper in the kitchen is old as well. It's a floral yellow print. What can i say but Poeter and I aren't really into decorating :D

It's a good choice. A hot date with a baker wouldn't get YOU anything.

I miss read the 'thumb' comment yesterday :D I take a guess and say it's about 2 1/2 inches.

And we're waiting to see if we can get a thermostat for the stove. Apparently they haven't made Harvest Gold in a 'few' years :rolleyes:

The plot on how old the stove is got a little more interesting. The vent area of the stove is 'Avocado Green'. What were the original owners of the house thinking :rolleyes:

and did you know you can now get some appliances in 'Red' :eek:

The former owner told us about him--evidently he was so comfortable with them, he would eat out of their hands. With me, he's more comfortable with the glass door in between us while he eats.

We have inherited neighbors' scaredy cat - they couldn't find her when they moved to Oz after the 2nd quake. She has even been so bold as to (once) let us touch her head, but usually lurks in the bushes waiting for food at same time each night (just before darkness).

Jeeze, Simon takes a run at me each morning and bounces off my ankle to tell me I'd better feed him 'NOW'!!!!!! He does have quite the shag-a-dellic hair-do and I wonder how well he can see with all that hair in his eyes. Maybe I should put it in a ponytail and see if that helps :lol:

* snort * ColoUr references of 1970's appliances......I very vaguely recall our house having a great deal of orange throughout my early childhood. I particularly remember the big avacado phone sitting on the li'l special phone table in the hallway.. .. . ..... :lol:

How on earth did she ever manage to organize a perfectly matching dress to the wallpaper??

The first house Jesse and I bought when we were 23 had the avocado sink, toilet and bath with the pink tiles all around. We decorated around it to make it work, ended up kinda cute. I thought it might be a sore spot when we were trying to sell, but the house sold in 5 days, so I guess it wasn't that bad! :P

Might not be wallpaper . . . might be a curtain . . . which makes me think of Carol Burnett wearing the drapes in the Gone with the Wind parady.

Did I confuzzle yooz??....we waaay ahead of y'all on the birphday front (eh Shroom wink.gif)

Sadness today...not to dwell as this is The Funny pages but my old cat Lucy died today.

She was 15 yrs & frail so not completely unexpected. She was a miserable old cat but I shall miss her!! wub.gif

      I have found that in addition to gluten, I am sensitive to inulin/chicory root fiber. I wondered why I had gastrointestinal symptoms after drinking a Chobani yogurt drink - much like being glutened. Happened at least twice before I figured out that it was that chicory root fiber additive. I do not react to ordinary dairy, yogurt, etc. For the holidays...

I’ve been allergy tested in the past for food allergens only two came back positive (both in the tree-nut family) nothing in the legumes.   (I do have a celiac disease diagnosis, the reason I was food allergy tested was because I ate a walnut and my lips swelled up)  I decided to test this out to be sure so I ate a couple of cooked green beans last night within 15 minutes I was spinning, my shirt drenched in sweat. My heart racing.   I’m not sure what this is, I do have issues with others vegetables  as my stomach doesn’t seem to tolerate them. Even when they’re cooked I just can’t digest them but they never made me as dizzy and sweaty as the green beans.    anyone else experience this?

I got rid of all gluten-containing flours, mixes and pastas in my kitchen. Much easier to avoid cross-contamination that way!

Since the protein bar was the only new variable, it’s a strong suspect; it's worth checking if it contains ingredients like sugar alcohols (e.g., maltitol, sorbitol) or certain fibers (inulin/chicory root) that are notorious for causing acute digestive upset, even in gluten-free products. For your holiday baking, your plan is solid: bake the gluten-free items first, use entirely separate utensils and pans (not just washed), and consider color-coding tools to avoid mix-ups. Additionally, store your gluten-free flours and ingredients well away from any airborne wheat flour, which can stay in the air for hours and settle on surfaces. Keep listening to your body and introducing new packaged foods one at a time—it’s the best way to navigate and pinpoint triggers on your journey.
