Your kittehs are soooo thoughtful :)

When my kitteh was just a wee kitteh, she could only use the litter box one time . . . then it was "full" and all the litter was piled up on one wee turd.

mushroom Proficient

My kitteh is so long that she poops in one end of the box, and scoops the litter from the other end, which doesn't come anywhere near the little parcel she just delivered. Has never got the concept of turning around

Oh and P & J, I have a best friend who would love a cat box cake for her birthday. Are there any secrets, or just the obvious? What a HOOT!!!

Hello Dear Psillies,

Long time no see. I took a nasty fall down our hard wood stairs. The only thing stopping the fall was my face and the landing. I stayed in the house for over a week because I didn't want anyone to think Superman was beating me up (make-up made it look worse). I think it was Lex Luther who pushed me.ph34r.gifph34r.gif I finally went to the movies twice over the weekend. I highly recommend both movies that we saw: Snow White and the Huntsmen and Prometheus. Both long movies but the time flew. Now we're going back and watching all of the Alien movies. It seems to be taking forever for the bruise to heal and we o to NJ for our vacation July 5th. Trying to set up as many play dates as possible. There's a lovely small Mall (I don't like the large one down Rte 1). I feel like I'm setting up audiences (I'm reading Game of Thrones too much). was pleasantly surprised how many of my friends want to meet me. We're having dinner at our gluten-free friend's house the day we arrive (the 5th). I meet my friends the 6th (Superman has to make plans for the day - he's got dinner plans). I'm hoping to have dinner at PF Changs. Saturday Rob is being treated to a Roger Waters Concert with his oldest friend (from high school) and I'm sleeping at a girlfriends house. Sunday we're having brunch with my brother and SIL (it's a shorter drive from Va to Princeton than it is to RI).

The tourist season has begun here and our quiet town gets crazy with renters (and sucky drivers). It is good for the businesses. If I get to the beach by 9 it's not packed. Westerly has two private beaches but thee's nothing to stop anyone from walking down from the State beach (very crowded). There are a lot of wonderful free events (movies on the beach, blues, jazz, and more things that I don't remember).

Even though I haven't posted I have managed to keep up - that kitty dessert looks delicious wacko.gif.

Well dear friends, I've probably burned your eyes out. I'll try to keep in touch more.

Love, Hugs, & positive energy,

Loeywub.gifwub.gifwub.gif

Jestgar Rising Star

LoLo honey, you need to spend some time propped up on silken pillows having your men-folk bring you chocolate dipped strawberries and wine (or the relaxing substance of your choice). Set up on the beach and bring a pea shooter to keep the tourists at bay. :)

I have a new chick! I'll try to get a pic in a few days, but I don't want to disturb Mom in case she abandons the other eggs. She's got three more under her - one that should be the same age as the one that hatched, and two more with undermined starting dates (a couple of the girls laid eggs in her nest while she was out gallivanting, and I wasn't checking). The wee babe is chipmunk colored 2415191071_1c3369cc42.webp, and is a silkie/welsummer mix.

My first silkie/welsummer mix was fluffy yellow, and is now pure white. I love genetics!

Baby chicks are adorable!

Lo - I agree with everything Jess said! And, you need a better story for your bruises. Falling down the stairs is too normal. Perhaps you fought off 3 large homeinvaders? Got it when the aliens were returning you after an abduction? Professional boxing match?

Hi, Loweeeee! Dear gawd, be careful.. . . ...

That is the most adorable chick I've ever seen.....he actually looks rather content....HAPPY, even....like, there's a little smile on his beak. Birds always seem to look pissed off, but not this li'l guy.. . . . B)

NO, too small... thing big... she got them after her pro boxing match which she was forced into while on an alien space while while defending the planet from those same aliens who wanted to poison the worlds water supply with gluten!

Little Joe spent NINE MONTHS in the rescue system because no one wanted him. They ended up basically paying us to take him in (we did not need that incentive, but did not turn it down either LOL).

Want to know WHY no one wanted him? CAUSE HE IS NOT A PURE BRED! :(:o

My dog is a pure bred! Despite the wierd picture I took of him. He was going to be euthenized and the shelter workers called a lady they know occasionally takes dogs to foster. Then I got him a few weeks later from her. So I guess no one wanted him becasue he was a pure bred? You never know!

Here's the disturbing thing going on around here. A Pet store is selling mixed breed puppies for $500. Things like Llasa poodle mixes & Llasa Bichon mixes. Then there is a rescue group with a bunch of these same puppies for about $90. Probably seized from the same puppy mills.

 This is just ridiculous. Why would anyone pass over a beautiful soul because they are not a purebred? Hell, I'M no purebred, and lookit what a great catch I ended up amounting to!

<_< <_<

Well....I'm a bit messy....and I ain't svelte nor graceful.... .. ... ...and I don't always clean up too well......

But you get my point!.. .. ... ...

For whatever the reason (and social scientists still cannot tell us exactly why this is), black dogs and cats are the animals least likely to be adopted from a shelter, or picked from a litter of puppies/kittens. The stats overwhelmingly show mass preference for any other colour...quite odd. My black substandard poodle was one of the most beautiful dogs ever.

The worst is the story how he got in the shelter to begin with... his owners moved away one night and left him in a cage in the back yard!       Neighbors fed him scraps for a couple weeks until they could find a rescue org to take him in.

His name is "Little Joe" because the rescue org that took him in was full, but his big eyes and friendly demeanor won them over and they called him "Little Joe" because he wrangled his way in.

Had to go looking for picture of said dog . . .

Here it is for everyone else who was as confused as I:

Neither are we! :D He looks like a great prynese with one distinct difference...he is only 65 pounds (They are usually over 100). He kind of looks like he could be a mix of golden and somthing, but does not have the golden face at all.

6337758651_a500743846_n.webp

He's a cutie . . . you need to add something to show the scale. I would have never guessed him as a 65 pounder.

It's true, he looks like a little guy.... .. ..from the photo I would have guessed border collie sized -- 35-40 pounds...

What a great face.....full of character. :)

Yeah,he's got the facial structure of a little dog. He's too cute. Does he also think he's a little dog and jump in your lap? :D

Funny thing about that is most people think his head is big for his body when they meet him. He is playful still, just in shorter burst then when we first got him 10 years back. :)

Welcome to the celiac.com communiuty, @Matthias! Yes, we have been aware that this can be an issue with mushrooms but as long as they are rinsed thoroughly it should not be a problem since the mushrooms don't actually incorporate the gluten into their cellular structure. For the same reason, one needs to be careful when buying aged cheeses and products containing yeast because of the fact that they are sometimes cultured on gluten-containing substrate.

The one kind of food I had been buying and eating without any worry for hidden gluten were unprocessed veggies. Well, yesterday I discovered yet another pitfall: cultivated mushrooms. I tried some new ones, Shimeji to be precise (used in many asian soup and rice dishes). Later, at home, I was taking a closer look at the product: the mushrooms were growing from a visible layer of shredded cereals that had not been removed. After a quick web research I learned that these mushrooms are commonly cultivated on a cereal-based medium like wheat bran. I hope that info his helpful to someone.

I might suggest you consider buckwheat groats. https://www.amazon.com/Anthonys-Organic-Hulled-Buckwheat-Groats/dp/B0D15QDVW7/ref=sr_1_4_pp?crid=GOFG11A8ZUMU&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.bk-hCrXgLpHqKS8QJnfKJLKbKzm2BS9tIFv3P9HjJ5swL1-02C3V819UZ845_kAwnxTUM8Qa69hKl0DfHAucO827k_rh7ZclIOPtAA9KjvEEYtaeUV06FJQyCoi5dwcfXRt8dx3cJ6ctEn2VIPaaFd0nOye2TkASgSRtdtKgvXEEXknFVYURBjXen1Nc7EtAlJyJbU8EhB89ElCGFPRavEQkTFHv9V2Zh1EMAPRno7UajBpLCQ-1JfC5jKUyzfgsf7jN5L6yfZSgjhnwEbg6KKwWrKeghga8W_CAhEEw9N0.eDBrhYWsjgEFud6ZE03iun0-AEaGfNS1q4ILLjZz7Fs&dib_tag=se&keywords=buckwheat%2Bgroats&qid=1769980587&s=grocery&sprefix=buchwheat%2Bgroats%2Cgrocery%2C249&sr=1-4&th=1 Takes about 10 minutes to cook. Incidentally, I don't like quinoa either. Reminds me and smells to me like wet grass seed. When its not washed before cooking it makes me ill because of saponins in the seed coat. Yes, it can be difficult to get much dietary calcium without dairy. But in many cases, it's not the amount of calcium in the diet that is the problem but the poor uptake of it. And too much calcium supplementation can interfere with the absorption of vitamins and minerals in general because it raises gut pH.

What you’re describing really does not read like typical IBS-D. The dramatic, rapid normalization of stool frequency and form after removing wheat, along with improved tolerance of legumes and plant foods, is a classic pattern seen in gluten-driven disease rather than functional IBS. IBS usually worsens with fiber and beans, not improves. The fact that you carry HLA-DQ2.2 means celiac disease is absolutely possible, even if it’s less common than DQ2.5, and many people with DQ2.2 present later and are under-diagnosed. Your hesitation to reintroduce gluten is completely understandable — quality of life matters — and many people in your position choose to remain strictly gluten-free and treat it as medically necessary even without formal biopsy confirmation. If and when you’re ready, a physician can help you weigh options like limited gluten challenge, serology history, or documentation as “probable celiac.” What’s clear is that this wasn’t just random IBS — you identified the trigger, and your body has been very consistent in its response.
