WoW! Peter, that is SO cool. That Flash Forward sounds right up my alley. Looking forward to it!

Has anyone else planted vegetable gardens this year? My dad and I collaborated and did a big one. We've got two kinds of bell peppers, zucchini, cantaloupe, green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, pumpkins, and even CORN. Yeah, we kinda went nuts. The boys have been helping, too. It's been fun, but something has been nibbling on the green bean plants.

How is everyone???

SARAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D<did you know your email inbox is full??>

HOW ARE YOU???? (I'm shouting! )

OMG, got LOADS of veg growing (have gone mad this year with my 'mini greenhouse')

Courgettes Zucchini, Radishes, Rocket, Iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, beetroot, peppers

Hope the boys are well, so GOOD to see you!!!

Patee, I'm so sorry! :( Was he just old?

I've been meaning to ask you, how did you come to name him Allo?

awwwwwww

you'll miss your sweet, sweet boy. I'm sure he was very thankful for the wonderful life you shared with him and finally felt you could take care of things without him.

he will, no doubt, be keeping tabs on you for a while anyway.

Thank you Bunnie. He was 18--and has been slowing down now for a while. The only thing his bloodwork showed was a slight kidney issue, but he was being re-hydrated for that. He had lost half of his healthy weight and was showing neurological problems as well as ongoing GI problems.

We have had him to both a regular vet and a cat specialist--yesterday we just couldn't stand to see him staggering around anymore with no appetite. I told a friend that the light had gone out of his eyes. Mark and I made the painful, difficult decision to end his suffering at 10AM yesterday.

I'm so very sad--I can't believe he's gone, but in my heart I know that we did what was best for him. He had a good life, was pampered beyond belief--but at the same time he brought so much joy to our family. We loved him.

His "given" name was Garth. Shortly after we got him at 8 weeks old (from a farm in Georgia), I started calling him Allo. I don't know why, but it stuck and pretty soon everyone called him that and it's been his name ever since. Somehow it suited him better.....

We just found him one Sunday while taking a ride. He doesn't have a sign or a plaque or anything--he's just laying under a tree by the side of the road here in our new town. When I saw him, I knew I had a new av! :P

There's actually a lot of sculpture mixed with nature around here--a lil' family of deer, some more abstract stuff, etc.

Oh--we recently saw a dead armadillo about a mile from here. Poor thing was obviously hit by a car. An armadillo!

Hi Sawahhhhh!!!!!!!!!Yer a sight fer sore eyes! So good to see you poopin in......do it more often puleeze!!!!

When we had a garden, we had to replant some of 'em .....especially the green beans. Sometimes it would help to have a couple of those life-size plastic owls to put in the garden.

Thing is........ya gotta move them to different spots frequently, or the critters start getting wise to ya. ;)

Oh, Patty, I am so, so sorry for your loss.

<<<<<<HUG>>>>>>

Our four-legged friends are such a blessing. They bring comfort and joy, they are playmates to our children, they listen raptly to anything we have to say. They demand our attention, command our respect, and give unconditional love in return. Who else is happy just because you wake up or walk in the door?

So sorry.

Thinking of you.

OH my gosh :(:(:(

I had millions of quotes, all kinds of things to larph about and address.....and then was stopped DEAD in me tracks about Pad-tea's Allo.......actually gasped when I read it, was on the phone with Miss G, and said "Oh, nooooooooo" :( and told her what had happened.

Oh Padt! How stoic you are in your loss of your beautiful boy. We didn't even know.....you just got......quiet. I was just thinking the other day, oddly, wonder how long Allo will be with us? Eighteen years, good long life for a kitteh.

many HUGS for you, my friend.........and Jess is right, he WILL be keeping tabs on you for a while. :)

Have faith, you will survive. I get mine from Pipingrock.com.  500 capsules of 10,000 IU for $22.  That is almost two years worth for me.  250 caps 5000 IU for $6.69 if you only take 5,000 a day.  It's like half the price of Walmart.

Testing can't alone be trusted.  Else why would it take so many years of testing and retesting and misdiagnosis to finally be told, yes you have Celiac Disease. As to what to eat, I like pre 1950 style food.  Before the advent of TV dinners.  Fresh food is better for you, and cooking from scratch is cheaper.  Watch Rachel Ray's 30 Minute Meals for how to cook.  Keep in mind that she is not gluten free, but her techniques are awesome.  Just use something else instead of wheat, barley, rye. Dr Fuhrman is a ex cardiologist.  His book Eat to Live and Dr Davis' book Wheatbelly were instrumental in my survival.

If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people. This article may also be helpful as it offers various ways to relieve the itch--thanks for the tip about Dupixent, and I've added it to the article:

I just want to clarify that what I posted is a category of research summaries we've done over the years, and nearly each one shows that there is definitely a connection to celiac disease and migraine headaches. The latest study said: "the study did indicate some potential causal associations between celiac disease and migraine with or without aura, as well as between migraine without aura and ulcerative colitis...this study did not find evidence of a shared genetic basis..." Anyway, there is definitely a connection, and you can go through more of the articles here if you're interested: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/celiac-disease-amp-related-diseases-and-disorders/migraine-headaches-and-celiac-disease/

Two months ago, I started taking Dupixent for dermatitis herpetiformis and it has completely cleared it up. I can't believe it! I have had a terrible painful, intensely itchy rash for over a year despite going fully gluten-free. See if your doctor will prescribe Dupixent. It can be expensive but I am getting it free. When the dermatitis herpetiformis was bad I could not do anything. I just lay in bed covered in ice packs to ease the pain/itching and using way too Clobetasol. Dapsone is also very good for dermatitis herpetiformis (and it is generic). It helped me and the results were immediate but it gave me severe anemia so the Dupixent is better for me. Not sure if it works for everyone. I cannot help with the cause of your stress but from experience I am sure the severe stress is making the celiac and dermatitis herpetiformis worse. Very difficult for you with having children to care for and you being so sick. Would this man be willing to see a family therapist with you? He may be angry at you or imagine that your illness is a psychosomatic excuse not to take care of him. A therapist might help even if he won't go with you. Also do you have any family that you could move in with (with the kids) for a short time to get away? A break may be good for you both.
