MORNING SILLIES!!!!!!!!

Son of Silly update:

Arrived ok - all the kids are fine (but tired)

A gentle start today with Gatorland.

(I won't actually get to speak to Al - it can make the kids upset)...next update on Sat :D

BTW - The Yeti did NOT want to go Gatorland (he doesn't like them  ....maybe a tad scared)

Btw-- speaking of British terms and phrases... I thought British lawyers were called barristers. But then I just read a book by Sophie Kinsella, that referred to lawyers AND barristers. What's the difference??? (I love British chick lit. Read it every chance I get. :P )

We do sometimes use the word Lawyer...but generally it is a Solicitor

A solicitor does the ground work, gathers the case.

Barristers represent you in court (defense/prosecution Attorney??)

We spell it defenCe though

I went up the road to get some eggs from my best friend's mom, and I took the boys with me so they could see the chickens.

Can't read that without thinking ''Chicken butt cooties''!!

I don't have a bush-hogger, wouldn't know what to do with one if I did.

 Nor I!

Butch bush hoggers???...........this has a totally different meaning here

:lol::lol::lol:

The London Marathon is this morning....I've often wondered just how much training it needs???<could I??>

So many good causes though - how do you pick one

..But for today I shall settle for 2..yes TWO (again) gym classes ;)

Morning Sillies!

i am going to nap...very tired. more later.

elye Community Regular

Good Sunday Morning, Sillies!

Welcome back, Janet!

Thank gawd you're here. PLEASE tell the gentlemen to STOP all this TALK OF MATHS!!

Terrific av....you and Bev look dutifully silly.

Patti et al....I am very jealous of your warm, lazy day, toes out weather!!

Still 'boots' weather here I'm afraid :(

Us, too.....Wellies the last two days. But sun and 10 degrees today (50 F)....should see the end of the snow dissolving into our soaked, muddy earth. And floods!

Why must EVERYthing remind me that I don't have a girlfriend yet??????

It was supposed to be 'job in Nov' & and on 2nd or 3rd girlfriend by NOW!!!!!!

....I guess those things can all seem to be jobs, at times..... <_<

I realized after posting, that some science guy has probably proven, to a high probability, that EVERY water molecule on earth has been ingested & .. .returned to nature(?) multiple times. Somehow, I'm thinking I heard it was 30x.

Ah! Another unsettling but fascinating tidbit for The Ripper.....

Well put, Oracle, tho doesn't it require the Hexadecimal (base16) value?

And I could swear I used to have to enter 4digits, w/ a leading zero.

No, no, silly Ptaumn....it in fact requires the Quadralingual value at base 32, and you must enter 2 characters with a leading #!! #*!@#*!!&**.........:lol:

The older one, going back to the early days of DOS, is the three-digit decimal value of the extended ASCII character.

The newer one, in recent versions of Windows, is the four-digit hex value of the base Unicode character. Unicode uses a variable number of bytes to store a character (one for basic 7-bit ASCII, but more beyond that). There are Unicode characters which Windows can deal with beyond what extended ASCII can represent.

Ohhhhhhh, GAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWDDDDD.....................

(They have a better creek access than we do. <_< I have some bush-hogging to do.:lol: That sounded so butch. I don't have a bush-hogger, wouldn't know what to do with one if I did. I'm gonna have to do the hack-and-slash method with my clippers/trimmers/whackers, etc.)

Bush-hogging......

Sarah, do you not all have enough bushes to go around? Should think I'd wanna be perhaps unloading some o' mine......

Happy Sunday, Sillies :D

Nikki--good idea not to speak directly to A--I can see how hearing mom's voice could bring on a case of homesickness ;)

Mark just called from the airport--his flight home is in 30 minutes! Since he's been gone, I keep waking up around 2:30AM convinced that someone has broken into the house. :P Gawd

Yes--all this mathmatical talk....(fingers in ears) nananananananana!

Sarah--your visit to the chicken farm :D charming. Glad you all woke up fine.

Ugh--our stretch of warm weather is done for now....cool here this morning, definately not sandal weather today <_<

Yay, I'm glad he's landed, safe and sound. Probably a good idea not talking to him directly. Hearing your mom's voice has a way of tugging at your heart stings. I went to sports camp for two weeks when I was 11. I was having soooo much fun but when I called home after about 5 days I immediately burst into tears when my mom picked up the phone and said "Hi Ally, we miss you." Thankfully I was able to get over my homesickness and enjoy the rest of the camp.

Tell me about it! When Ryan was away for a few days I would wake up sure that someone was lurking around just waiting to break in. I ended up leaving most of the lights on in the house during the night and checked about a million times that all of the doors and windows were locked. I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets freaked out by being alone!

That handsome little fella in my av is my dad's dog Orwell (Ori or Oreo as I call him). My dad's away for awhile so we're looking after him. He's a beagle mix and such a little snuggler. He's missing my dad I think :( but he is having a pretty good time with us. I'm not going to want to give him back. :P

They are doing very well. Sampson, the big grey one, has learned to stand on his back feet when he wants something. The complete adorableness of this gesture insures that he'll get anything he's asking for.

Lyle, the slightly smaller black one, likes to sleep on my part of the bed. When I come in he waits until he's sure I'm looking and then flings his body into some incredibly cute pose (I swear they must take classes for that. Or maybe he practices in from of the mirror).

We've had a few issues, but have (mostly) come to agreement on how to live together.

Nikki!! Andrew Johnson made me cry! :)

Jack has been bullied, as well, and I think this is why I was struck so by this boy on stage. I must show him this clip.

Interesting story for y'all:

Last evening we went out to our semi-annual dinner with three other couples who are good friends. One of the couples have just gotten back from Punta Cana, and near the end of the evening, when asked about their trip, Lynda said, "The first day we are there, I noticed a thin young lady lying on the beach by herself. I saw her again in one of the bars later, and while I was ordering, we struck up a conversation. She was very nice, from England, asked questions about Canada, asked if I had a cigarette....I ended up bumping into her a few times, and she remembered my name and seemed happy to chat a bit.

Then, on our last day, we see three big boats pulling up on the beach. These guys scramble out carrying HUGE cameras and film equipment. They disappear into the resort. Sure enough, they were paparrazi after some footage of this odd English girl with her hair piled high on her head and these tattoos up her arms...."

OMG....

Well, Lynda's kids are grown, so she has no idea of who the current, hot personalities are. Yep, she'd been conversing with our Ms. Winehouse, who had been sent to this remote, quiet resort to detox(?) and stay hidden away for a week.

She says now, in hindsight, that she remembers big, serious-looking guys milling around where Amy was most of the time--bodyguards....but the wildest part of it all:

Just before they left, Lynda's DH overheard some of the resort chambermaids and management in a heated discussion, in Spanish, over who was going to go into El Celebridad's room to clean up all the used syringes.....

 What a story for her to tell!

2008 Tax Code ......

The only thing that the IRS has not taxed yet is the primary male genital.

This is due to the fact that 69% of the time it is hanging around unemployed, 10% of the time it is hard up, 20% of the time it is pissed off and 1% of the time it is in the hole. On top of that, it has two dependents and they are both nuts!

HOWEVER, effective January 1st, 2008, this organ will now be taxed according to size:

The brackets are as follows:

10 - 12" Luxury Tax $300.00

8 - 10" Pole Tax $250.00

5 - 8" Privilege Tax $150.00

3 - 5 " Nuisance Tax $30.00

Males exceeding

12" must file capital gains.

Anyone under 4"

is eligible for a tax refund.

PLEASE DO NOT

ASK FOR AN EXTENSION !

So Uncle Ray writes back, "HORRORS! what is the capital gains tax?"

I wrote back "Five inches!" :P

Bev--capital gains....

Just another polite, young English girl out on holiday.

Very difficult to believe, but Lynda swears that Ms. Winehouse was quiet, seemingly alone much of the time, and quite pleasant. I kept saying, "Mygawd!! How can you NOT have ever seen, or heard of, Amy Winehouse?" She just shrugged, and said (paraphrasing), "this skinny gal with the hair that climbed five feet above her head in a black mass...with frightening tattoos all over the place....just seemed like a strange Brit from the wrong side of the tracks. Couldn't believe it when we learned that she was a BIG recording star".

Hell, don't that just beat the band?

She was apparently swilling back these:

Certainly, it would b wise to have a gene test done if your physician is open to it as it would provide some more data to understand what's going on. But keep in mind that the genetic test for celiac disease cannot be used as to diagnose celiac disease, only to establish the potential to develop active celiac disease. About 40% of the general population possess one or both of the primary genes known to be associated with the development of active celiac disease but only about 1% of the population actually develop active celiac disease. So, the gene test is an effective "rule out" tool but not an effective diagnostic tool.

Had Quaker gluten-free oatmeal last night and my stomach is a mess today. NO flu but def stomach stuff. Anyone else?

So you would be good with the diagnosis and not worry to check genetics etc etc? Appreciate your words!

For those who will likely remain gluten-free for life anyway due to well-known symptoms they have when eating gluten, my general advice is to ignore any doctors who push to go through a gluten challenge to get a formal diagnosis--and this is especially true for those who have severe symptoms when they eat gluten. It can take months, or even years to recover from such a challenge, so why do this if you already know that gluten is the culprit and you won't be eating it anyway?  Approximately 10x more people have non-celiac gluten sensitivity than have celiac disease, but there isn’t yet a test for NCGS. If your symptoms go away on a gluten-free diet it would likely signal NCGS--but those in this group will usually have negative tests, or at best, elevated antibodies that don't reach the level of official positive. Unfortunately test results for celiac disease are not always definitive, and many errors can be made when doing an endoscopy for celiac disease, and they can happen in many ways, for example not collecting the samples in the right areas, not collecting enough samples, or not interpreting the results properly and giving a Marsh score.  Many biopsy results can also be borderline, where there may be certain damage that could be associated with celiac disease, but it just doesn't quite reach the level necessary to make a formal diagnosis. The same is true for blood test results. Over the last 10 years or so a new "Weak Positive" range has been created by many labs for antibody results, which can simply lead to confusion (some doctors apparently believe that this means the patient can decide if they want more testing or to go gluten-free). There is no "Weak Negative" category, for example. Many patients are not told to eat gluten daily, lots of it, for the 6-8 week period leading up to their blood test, nor asked whether or not they've been eating gluten. Some patients even report to their doctors that they've been gluten-free for weeks or months before their blood tests, yet their doctors incorrectly say nothing to them about how this can affect their test, and create false negative results. Many people are not routinely given a total IGA blood test when doing a blood screening, which can lead to false negative interpretations if the patient has low IGA. We've seen on this forum many times that some doctors who are not fully up on how interpret the blood test results can tell patients that the don't need to follow a gluten-free diet or get more testing because only 1 of the 2 or 3 tests done in their panel is positive (wrong!), and the other 1 or 2 tests are negative.  Dermatologists often don't know how to do a proper skin biopsy for dermatitis herpetiformis, and when they do it wrongly their patient will continue to suffer with terrible DH itching, and all the risks associated with celiac disease. For many, the DH rash is the only presentation of celiac disease. These patients may end up on strong prescriptions for life to control their itching which also may have many negative side effects, for example Dapsone. Unfortunately many people will continue to suffer needlessly and eat gluten due to these errors in performing or interpreting celiac disease tests, but luckily some will find out about non-celiac gluten sensitivity on their own and go gluten-free and recover from their symptoms. Consider yourself lucky if you've figured out that gluten is the source of your health issues, and you've gone gluten-free, because many people will never figure this out.
