Is it true that buckwheat is gluten free?

Yes, buckwheat is gluten free.

There may be cc issues depending on what brand you buy. Not sure about that part.

yep, it's not even a grain, but technically a fruit.

Buckwheat is a member of the rhubarb family. I've never heard of a problem with cross contamination, unless you are getting it in bulk. But then you must be really careful of anything in bulk bins, best not to even go there. <_< There are some gluten free Buckwheat waffles out there if you can find them :D

In the information booklet that my dietician gave me, buckwheat was flagged as one of those grains which can be cross contaminated . . . . she said you have to make sure you get a gluten free variety (not that I can eat buckwheat---I tend to react to seeds and things!)

I've read millet has a very low incidence for causing reactions. Have you tried it?

I actually made a millet/chickpea pilaf this weekend, which was my first millet experience. It was quite tasty! I recommend roasting the dry millet in a skillet with a little oil beforehand -- it gets a nice, buttery kind of flavor.

My acupuncturist also recommended millet as a "stomach-soothing" grain -- I'm not sure whether that's the case or not, but he's been spot-on about everything else he's told me!

Yep, I eat millet--thanks for the suggestion. It is one of the few grains I can eat. I hadn't thought of stir frying it in oil first--that sounds good!

I'm a bit concerned about the particular type of millet I buy, though (Oak Manor)---the company manufactures flour too. I'll have to try to find millet that is safe for the nut allergic (Bob's Red Mill is not) and for those with celiac.

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.

Some interesting articles regarding the use of Zinc Carnosine to help heal gastric ulcers, gastritis and intestinal permeability. I would consult a medical professional about it's use. https://www.nature.com/articles/ncpgasthep0778 https://www.rupahealth.com/post/clinical-applications-of-zinc-carnosine---evidence-review https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7146259/ https://www.fallbrookmedicalcenter.com/zinc-l-carnosine-benefits-dosage-and-safety/

He is. Which makes everything even more difficult. I’m not a believer in “staying for the kids” but I have nowhere to go and it’s not just me, it’s me plus my babies. We live in a beautiful place, lots of land in the country and me and the kids love the place we’ve called home for their entire lives. But Im seeing that he’ll never change, that my kids deserve a happy healthy Momma, and that staying in this as is will be the early death of me. Then I look at the scars covering my entire body…this disease and the chronic stress I’ve been enduring for years that tell me I’m no longer beautiful and no one will ever look at me with interest again. I try self care, try to give myself grace so I can just start loving myself enough to gain strength but the slightest sparkle in my eye and skip in my step attracts his wrath and it all comes crashing ten fold. Life is just absolutely railing me from every single direction leaving me wanting to wave that white flag bc I don’t feel like there’s much hope no matter what happens.
