Jessica Simpson Celaic?

I was just reading the latest issue of Elle...big article on Jessica Simpson, which mentioned that she'd gotten really sick last year with intestinal bleeding....and discovere that among other "allergies", she was allergic to wheat. I don't know if that means wheat allergy, or rather, something like gluten sensitivity and celiac disease.

Wow! That would be another coup for us celiacs if she was! Well, I guess she better not eat any of those pizzas she advertises for Pizza Hut!

Wow. It certainly sounds possible. Maybe it will develop into Pizza Hut learning more about it.

Could be--I remember Elizabeth Hasselbeck referred to her Celiac as a "wheat allergy" for quite a while before she announced on the show that she had Celiac.

I always worried about the whole family they should get checked out for hepatites and liver function. I mean they are yellow  or is this another Simpson family? :P

I watched a few of the newlywed shows and remember one where she was just coming off a diet (low carb) so she would lose weight to film the dukes movie. She was with Nick eating at a restaurant and having a big plate of pasta and she was so excited to be eating carbs. She got full really fast and all night she complained she had gas. She was rolling around and couldn't sit still. She was drinking maloxx I think to get the gas to escape. Then they ending the show with her farting loud and long and Nick couldn't believe something like that would come out such a pretty little girl. lol It was funny but you could tell she was in pain. I understand it but I don't think alot of people do.

Since we're all talking about The Simpsons, is anyone else doing a Nelson "HA-hah!" over this?

I mean I don't wish any gastrointestinal disease on Jessica or anything. I just find it so deliciously amusing that Pizza Hut's main spokesperson can't even eat their product. It's just...funny.

Plus it's nice that we actually might have a real celebrity among us who is actually famous and stuff. Hasselbeck isn't exactly what I'd call "high profile."

yes, but what hasselbeck lacks in fame, miss simpson lacks in... sense, shall we say. if she becomes an informed patient, great. if she doesn't, she could actually hurt more than help.

then she wont be doing anymore pizza hunt com anymore i take it :P:P

OMG, that's exactly what I was thinking. She's SOO dumb, she would not be the best person to help the world understand the necessity for this particular lifestyle.

I'm quite certain she'll never be required to read a label or cook her own food, so - it won't be any "real" big deal for her.

 OMG I think our friend Steve (GFP) across the pond really does think we're talking about the cartoon Simpson family? yes they are orange...but Jessica is a little orange also......

I know.....plus she looks fabulous - I mean - - doesn't look sickly or anytyhing, and would be a terrible spokesperson and atypical example of the affects of Celiac......horrors......

you know what, we need someone really famous and older, like......Jack Nicholson or....Barbra Steisand? or something.....to realize the ravages of Celiac.....lose a couple of years of his/her life to illness, and THEN talk about it.......

I used to flip through and catch Newlyweds every now and again, in the beginning I liked her music, but what turned me off was the day she bought the 5000 sheets, (even Nick wanted to know why she had to pay so much for them) and she wanted to wash them and couldn't figure out how to work the washing machine  I honestly always thought people were joking about the chicken/tuna thing as it was a joke on the show.

Hasselbeck is just as dumb. She once said that if gays were allowed to marry each other then people would start marrying their toasters. Um, yeah. I've always wanted to marry my Black and Decker Toaster Oven but thank god the Christian Right is saving me from myself!

Rumor has it that Hasselbeck is really only on The View (as the "conservative voice") because she's so stupid and innarticulate, she only makes her left-leaning co-hosts seem smarter by comparison when an issue is discussed.

The point is mute anyway. Yes, Jessica is an idiot too, but her having Celiac could only help. Even Michael Jackson helped a lot of people with Vitilago (am I spelling that right?) by telling Oprah that he had it and that's why he has to bleach his skin. Sure, none of us believed that Michael Jackson had to bleach his skin THAT PALE because of a medical condition (anymore than we believed that Macauley Culkin was going over to the the Neverland Ranch just to play pinball) but it got the disease discussed and now lots of people know what it is. Before it had been virtually unheard of.

i actually just heard about this on the radio when i was getting ready this morning...looks like a lot of people heard about it! :)

the report i heard was "blah blah i guess jessica simpson won't be doing any more pizza hut commercials because she has an allergy to wheat, tomatoes and cheese." i'm sorry i don't really like her so my first reaction was omg...yeah right *eye rolling* but i guess if people heard it from difference sources maybe it is more plausible. can you really be allergic to just cheese? or is it dairy or something... that's what made me wonder.

but yeah i agree, she is dumb and if people hear about this and then are like oh jessica simpson looks so great maybe i should go wheat free as a "diet" which i'm sorry maybe it's selfish but i think it's an insult. my friend's mom (who is just...don't get me started...) recently decided to eat "wheat free" as a weight less diet and i find it an insult!! she wouldn't even have known what it was until i went gluten-free a year or 2 ago. it's like she just give up wheat on a whim and it's nothing. it is NOT like that! it's hard!! it's not a choice so i can loose weight! besides i saw her eating a "spinach wrap" the other day...seriously you think that's just made of spinach?!? i'm sorry that was a little off topic, but i needed to vent because it makes me really irritated... ;)

LOL....I was thinking the same thing! Maybe she will become a genius after going gluten free

You know, I have a very evil thought... Perhaps Jessica Simpson is "allergic to wheat, cheese, and tomatoes" so that she can bow out of her contract with Pizza Hut. Maybe she just got a better offer and down the road her allergies will mysteriously disappear. I'm not trying to offend anyone, just a thought.

Yeah...and in this case she could be the *perfect* spokesperson for Celiac and the effects of gluten on the brain.

I found it more amusing that although she was the Pizza Hut spokes person every time there was a pizza box in the background of the show (no matter how well they bleeped it out) it was a Domino's box. Haha.

ROFLMAO!!!! I am going to die I'm laughing so hard. This post is genius!

As for JS having celiac, I agree, she may be dumber than a chicken mcnugget, but still it can only help.

I take both Benfotiamine and TTFD.   You might want to start with the Benfotiamine for a few days and then add in the TTFD.   You can look for NeuroMag (Magnesium Threonate).  A magnesium glycinate is fine, too.  Doctor's Best is a good brand.  Don't take more than 300mg total per day of magnesium or it may have a laxative effect.   Be sure to take the B Complex.  The Benfotiamine and TTFD will need the other B vitamins.

Life Extension Benfotiamine with Thiamine has 100MG of Ben and 25 of Thia..... Do you think this is the one I should take or Objective Nutrients Thiamax (TTFD) which has 100MG Thiamine. How much magnesium should I look for? I take the womens 50+ multivitamin since consumerlabs stated and tested that it has the right amount of vitamins and not too much for men and doesn't have BHT which has shown to cause liver cancer in animals. I was never big with multivitamins as well as doctors I just read when I was first going gluten free to take a multi but I think I will stop them and work on trying the super B Thia and Ben, Mag.

Hi all I’ve been celiac for 4 years now, I’ve done pretty well to avoid it thus far. Last night I took the wrong pizza out of the freezer and ate the whole lot!! The non gluten and gluten pizza boxes are both very similar.   2 hours later I was throwing up violently on my hands and knees over the loo.  .horrendous stomach pains,  My hair was wet from sweat every part of my body was wet. What an awful experience, just had a bad headache today  fortunately.    Is their any products/pills anyone takes if they have realised they have just been glutened to make the symptoms a little less worse.  thanks
    • knitty kitty
Yes, do take your B Complex with Benfotiamine or Thiamax.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins in the B Complex to make energy and enzymes, so best to take them together earlier in your day.  Taking them too close to bedtime can keep you too energetic to go to sleep.   The Life Extension Benfotiamine with Thiamine is Benfotiamine and Thiamine Hydrochloride, another form of thiamine the body likes.  The Thiamine HCl just helps the Benfotiamine work better.   Read the label for how many milligrams are in them.  The Mega Benfotiamine is 250 mgs.  Another Benfothiamine has 100 mgs.  You might want to start with the 100 mg.    I like to take Thiamax in the morning with a B Complex at breakfast.  I take the Benfotiamine with another meal.  You can take your multivitamin with Benfotiamine at lunch.   Add a magnesium supplement, too.  Thiamine needs magnesium to make some important enzymes.  Life Extension makes Neuro-Mag, Magnesium Threonate, which is really beneficial.  (Don't take Magnesium Oxide.  It's not absorbed well, instead it pulls water into the digestive tract and is used to relieve constipation.)  I'm not a big fan of multivitamins because they don't always dissolve well in our intestines, and give people a false sense of security.  (There's videos on how to test how well your multivitamin dissolves.).  Multivitamins don't prevent deficiencies and aren't strong enough to correct deficiencies.   I'm happy you are trying Thiamax and Benfotiamine!  Keep us posted on your progress!  I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

I looked further into Thiamax Vitamin B1 by objective nutrients and read all the great reviews. I think I will give this a try. I noticed only possible side affect is possibly the first week so body adjusts. Life Extensions carries Benfotiamine with Thiamine and the mega one you mentioned. Not sure if both in one is better or seperate. some reviews state a laxative affect as side affect. SHould I take with my super B complex or just these 2 and multivitamin? I will do further research but I appreciate the wonderful explanation you provided on Thiamine.
