Whats The Point Posting

Once again my posts have been deleted without explanation or comment.... just like they were never there???

Meanwhile there is a thread with several rule violations where people are mentioning there own websites.

Why are posts deleted or the whole thread so far as I can see in one thread and another has incvreasing rule violations and not a peep from a mod?

Hi Steve ,

First, the only one who can delete a post (other than the person who posted) is Scott. The mods can render a thread "invisable", but it's never actually deleted. Sometimes we do that if a thread has gotten particularly nasty, or if the member only posted to sell something. It is then up to Scott what will be done with it. We (mods) do not have the capability to render a single post invisable.

Be assured that whenever I see a website being featured in someone's signature, I report it. You would not be aware of this, as only the mods and Scott would see the report. There would be some lag time between the report, and the link being gone.

Anytime you see something that you feel is against the rules (we are only human, and are not on all the time), you can hit the "report" button and report it yourself.

I'm not sure if this is the thread Steve was referring to, but yesterday someone posted for the first time claiming that he "cured" his Celiac Disease. There was at least one complaint that I remember, and this morning, the thread is gone.

Steve, in a case like this, anyone who happened to post in the thread will have had their post (s) deleted. A little like an innocent bystander

One new poster assualted me. Steve missed it, but it was after one of his posts that she got nasty. I called her on it, she got nastier. The WHOLE THING was deleted starting with Steve's post. One of my posts that should have been deleted wasn't, so you can still see it there and all it says is "deleted post". If that's the thread, Steve, that's what happened. I agree that your post didn't need to be deleted, but the rest did.

I actually belong to another forum, and it is for adults who have braces well in the last week we had a new poster who got banned. She came on explaining her treatment and then started asking all sorts of questions for pictures and different things. When people questioned her she got very nasty and would get all fired up. I know a few members reported her as being a fetish poster looking for pictures of girls.

It is horrible when people come in and disrupt the community.

Thank you. I may not have come across nice to her ... she jumped on Steve, rudely, and, like I said, I called her on it, pointed out to her that her assessment was incorrect. She was insulting to ALL members of the board, actually, in the things she said, including the first poster who needed support. I explained to her, without lowering myself to her level, how wrong she was. I just couldn't let someone come on here and make that kind of blanket judgments about all of us. Scott deleted all the posts, as he should have. Steve's post was one of the ones that got deleted ... I'm betting that's the post he's referring to. If he didn't see any of the posts that were deleted, it would seem his was singled out, but it wasn't ... I would say about 10 posts were deleted altogether.

To hijack the thread momentarily, how are the braces going? My ortho says I'll get mine off early, in 9-12 months!! YAY! I can't believe how much better my teeth are looking!

Actually, good news! I was there on Monday, and we are looking at finshing in May or June. It will be nice, in time for the October wedding. We are waiting on the gaps to close where I had two teeth pulled. It is very tiny, so not much left.

Good news for you. Early removal is a good sign. I too am amazed at how much nicer they look. I cannot wait until they are finished. Overall it has been a good experience.

Overall this has been a good experience for me, too. The most important thing is that my TMJ feels better. I was worried about wearing all stainless steel braces at 43, but I quickly learned that NO ONE CARES! I've never had a negative comment about them. Sometimes I wear red lipstick just to show off my most expensive fashion accessory!!

I have to say they are my most expensive as well, I got clear ones because I too was worried about the look. I am happy I paid the extra money for them, it was worth it.

I've been wondering about deleted posts also. If a post does not get a response, is it then deleted? I've posted a couple of times about an IgG antibody test I had done, but it suddenly disappeared. Is it because no one responded?

Just curious.

A post is deleted because it has violated the board rules. If a thread gets into arguement mode, Scott has the option of deleting the entire thread.

As for a thread with no responses, if you are using the "view new posts", it won't show up if it hasn't had any responses. Otherwise, it still should be there in the section where you posted it.

If you started a thread that violated rules you would have heard about it. I'm guessing nobody replied and your post disappeared from "view new posts."

I also have had some of my replies disapear, and I know darn well they were not rude or violating any rules. At first I second guessed myself, wondering what I did wrong. But just figured it was a glitch on the board.

I am nice when arguing with people I've never met. I must have been okay this time ... the posts got deleted and I didn't get a warning! I had two board member pm me that they were appalled at her treatment of me, it was nice of them.

Here's what I do. Click on "Gluten-Free Celiac Disease Forum at Celiac.com (Home)" above, under your name. Make that your shortcut on your desktop. When you use it to come to the forum, scroll near the bottom and click on "today's active topics" (in Board Statistics). Now you will see all the posts, no matter how many times or how often you visit.
