Hi all. I am having a martini party with my boyfriend next Friday and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions of some gluten free appetizers/pick up foods that you have used at parties in the past. Any suggestions/recipes would be greatly appreciated! Ones that are easier to prepare would be best! :) Thanks.

Madisson

Veggies with dips! (Guacamole, salsa, hummus, etc.)

Deviled eggs.

Pears and cheese (if you can do dairy).

Marinated mushrooms.

How about whipped cream cheese or goat cheese spread on a rice cracker and topped with a gluten-free sundried tomato? Classy and tasty. Also, white beans pureed with garlic and green onion and served with tortilla chips. And that artichoke mayo dip everyone makes. You can adapt almost any dip to gluten-free simply by making sure you use a gluten-free brand. The only thing I haven't been able to do is find Chili Sauce that is gluten-free. Oh, another great thing is to take a block of cream cheese, pour a can of tiny shrimp (drained and rinsed) over it, then take a bottle of cocktail sauce (Crosse & Blackwell) and pour over the cheese and shrimp. Serve with a little knife for spreading, and either rice crackers or Blue Diamond nut thins. Yummy! Enjoy!

And... take the juice of 1/2 a lemon, add 1 1/2 ounces Skyy citrus vodka, and 1/2 ounce Cointreau. Take the lemon and wet the glass around the rim. Put sugar on a plate and dip the glass in the sugar. Meanwhile shake the ingredients with crushed ice and pour in the sugar rimmed martini glass. Float a sliver of lemon and enjoy... :D

Thanks so much for the ideas!

I'm not sure on the martini ingredients. I'm new to this too.

So far 3 months in - worsening symptoms. I have had the worst constipation in my life and I am primarily eating naturally gluten-free foods like potatoes, eggs, salad with homemade dressing, corn tortillas, etc. I hate gluten-free bread and pasta so I don't eat it. Occasionally I eat gluten-free almond flour crackers. As stated in the post, I don't have any vitamin deficiency. I was already tested.

Talk to your  Talk to your provider about testing for vitamin and mineral deficiency.  celiac disease causes malabsorption and eventually malnutrition.  Especially vitamin D. Having the gallbladder removed seems to be a common step on the way to a Celiac Disease Diagnosis,  Gallbladder is a sympton of deficient Choline. Eggs and red meat are the primary source..Choline makes up a majority of the bile salts.  The bile gets thick, doesn't get enough into intestine to digest fats well.  Can eventually back up into gallbladder, cause gallstones.  Without bile, bowel movements can become hard. Try to avoid all processed foods while you are healing, The gluten-free foods are not fortified with vitamins and use various ingredients to mimic fat that bothers many Celiacs.  Choose vegatables with low omega 6.  Optimum omega 6 to omega 3 ratio is less than 3:1.  Wheat flour is 22:1.  Grass fed milk is 1:1.   Commercial Dairies milk is 5:1.  They feed wheat, rye and barley Gluten as part of the food mix.

Your DGP-G is also high. The thing to do now would be to trial the gluten-free diet for a few months to see if there is improvement in symptoms.
