Low Normal Thyroid? Any Ideas

Hells Bells

Recommended Posts

Hells Bells Apprentice

I just got the results of my blood tests back for thyroid. MY doctor said at first they were normal but the tests were not very subtle and infact I was at the low end of normal. This explains why I am always colder than everyone else, am fatigued, have dry brittle hair and have problems loosing weight. BUT as it was normal she was not going to take any further action at this time.

Does anyone know of a way I can naturaly boost my thyroid function? Foods suppliments ect.

Thank you

Do you use iodized salt? Kelp is also a source of iodine.

I used to take Solaray Thyroid Caps. They worked great for me.

Change Drs ? To one that knows Thyroid, and knows how to read a blood test and interpret it ?

You need to get your thyroid peroxidase antibodies checked as well. They should be under 20. If your Tsh is over 2.0 you need meds. Low normal for one may be fine, but for another may be awful. Georgie is right. Find a doc that know what he is doing. Check out Dr. Lowe.com for lot of good info.

I definitely agree with what georgie and loraleena said... When your levels are on the low end of "normal" and you have classic symptoms of being hypothyroid, the best thing you can do is find a doctor who is willing to work with you until YOU feel better.

A great resource for finding doctors like this is Open Original Shared Link.

It has reviews of doctors all over the world written by actual patients.

It's also worth noting that the "normal" ranges that most labs use are often outdated. I've done a bit of research on this topic, but I don't have the resources in front of me. It's quite interesting though.

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.
