Deli Meat

Just wondering if anyone knows of any "less expensive" brands of deli meat that are both gluten free and soy free. I'm at college right now and I have recently been getting sick on the turkey so the head chef called the company and found out that there was soy protein in all of their lunch meats. So now I'm out of lunch meat options and although the cafeteria staff has been making me special tuna, chicken, and egg salad I would still like an occasional turkey or ham sandwich. The chef said he would look into finding a deli meat that I would be able to have but the problem is the only brands I can come up with are Boars Head and Thumanns (what I use at home). So if you have any other suggestions please let me know.

I buy Oscar Mayer Shaves lunch meats, like turkey breast - mesquite flavored but they have ham and stuff too. I know the mesquite turkey, none of the ingredients stand out to me as having gluten and I have never had a reaction. I haven't look at the ham, but I also know the chicken is o.k. too.

Hope it works for you! :-)

Oscar Mayer is a Kraft company, so they will clearly disclose any gluten ingredients.

Many of their shaved lunch meats are gluten and soy free....click on the name to read the ingredients.

Best of luck as school is starting again!!

We like Hormel Natural Choice because it doesn't have nitrates in it. Nitrates tend to give us headaches.

I think the Buddig lunch meats are safe (at least the corned beef one is) and they are super cheap!

Hormel says gluten-free right on the package.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
