This is gross, but I have to ask it:

After you get "glutened," does anyone else have problems with having D, but D that almost "burns" as it comes out of you?

Like an idiot, I ingested Gluten last night at a Halloween Party (Could not resist everything!!) I got home this morning and am sick to my stomach and had D that actually hurt when coming out. It's also very, very stinky and very, very dark in color...almost black.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Yup, that's what happens with an autoimmune response to gluten when you "just can't resist" . Sooner than later, you'll find that it's just not worth it. Hope that the other, more significant issues haven't settled in by then. ;)

It has happened to me also. Recently I ate a meat product that had soy in it. It was a large roast, so it was ingested over a period of about 3 days. After a few "explosive" intestinal incidents, I got to thinking....do I have a soy problem also?? Enterolab did another test, and sure enough, I have a soy problem.

Use some vaseline in the rectal area after such an incident, and drink some Gatorade to hydrate yourself. Some Pepto Bismol may help also.

Oh, yes, I'm very familar with that. I remembering watching the South Park episode where Cartman had flames shooting out of his rear and thinking, "I've felt like that before..." ;)

Funny you mention that about soy. I think Soy is my other problem. I cannot, for the life of me, get better. And what do I eat everyday for breakfast? Tofu. Oh no!!! I can't live without tofu, too...but I wonder if Tofu is prohibiting me from getting well, too? I have mouth problems...I wonder if the soy causes that or if it's the gluten or what?

Also remember that you need to be totally gluten free to get better.....which means that even at parties ect you need to check ingredients and not just eat whats there or you will never get better!

I tested for soy with Enterolab and am seemingly not sensitive to it, yet I swear I am! I get sick from wheat free Tamari sauce, and I don't do well with tofu or any other soy products. So I avoid them all.

Welcome to the  forum @maylynn! Have you had a follow-up endoscopy/biopsy of the small bowel to check for healing of the villous lining? If not, it's about time one was done. As Scott mentioned, I also wonder if you have food intolerances in addition to gluten. Oats (even gluten free oats), dairy, soy, corn and eggs are some of the most common ones in the celiac community.

Is your gluten-free diet strict? Do you eat out in restaurants? If so, you could be getting contamination, and over time that can slow recovery. You may want to get a follow up celiac disease antibody panel done to make sure that your levels have gone down since your last tests. Also, have you had various nutrient levels checked via a blood test, and have you been taking vitamin & mineral supplements since your diagnosis?  The most common nutrient deficiencies associated with celiac disease that may lead to testing for the condition include iron, vitamin D, folate (vitamin B9), vitamin B12, calcium, zinc, and magnesium.    Do you still have celiac disease symptoms?  Many people with celiac...

Hello!  I am here as a last result, hoping for some advice, similar stories, etc. When I was 17, I was diagnosed with Celiac disease. By the time we figured it out my iron levels were so low I had to get infusions, and I had lost 20lbs. in two weeks going from a 5'11 130lbs woman to a 110 lbs. Now, I am 21 and have gained 4 lbs since. Every time I eat a meal, I get three bites in and feel so full that I feel sick. I can't eat a full meal. Something else has to be wrong right? This can't just be more "normal" right? I have done test after test and no doctor in my area can figure anything else out. They have told me I most likely have shrunken my stomach by now with how little I am eating so that has to do...

Thank you so much, Scott. I find it incredibly daunting navigating this celiac space and I find comfort in your wealth of knowledge. Thank you 🙏🏻
