 I am in love with my order.

Cheeks: WAFFLE CONE   Very nice soft peachy color...now that I'm at work and have gone in to check myself out in the mirrors  I wish I had put more of it on.

Weekend Getaway--this was the first blush I ordered and I liked it...it's a slightly darker peach, but it didn't turn orange on me--think I need to try this again (I have TOOOO many blushes  )

Glad you love your order Donna!

Waffle Cone is sounding very nice. I might swap it for Weekend Getaway. I think the more subtle blushes look better on me. Thanks for the report! :)

Joni, I know, blushes are so hard for me to choose too!

You have some great colors in your cart :D

The only blush I have that you list here is Best Friends, it is a very pretty color but it leans to the purple side, a rosey violet, lavender, definitely NOT ORANGE.

Thanks Julie! I'm having such a hard time waiting this special out.

I don't know what to do about the Best Friends. It sounds pretty and I have Anytime from a prior order, which is lavendar and does look nice on but it's very light - almost too light really. Is Best Friends really light or on the medium-ish side?

I love using the darker blushes as eye shadow. you can put a lot on and it just deepens your eyes without looking like you're wearing eyeshadow.

Also tried a bit of oasis over my lip color. Nice gold finish.

Nice tip Jestgar. I like the eye shadows that don't scream color. I think the subtle hints of color really bring out the eyes so well.

Joni! Blushes! I don't know! I'm confused about which blushes to order too... (but I'm definitely getting waffle cone).

I think Waffle Cone sounds really nice too. More cart swapping!

Okay so this is weird....A bunch of people on other forums are talking about using a certain type of....monistat as a foundation primer. Hmmm...not something I would have thought of...

I don't know about that one... :o Sounds a little scary!

I sent in a gushing email to EM. Basically saying I've felt like doodoo for 5 years and couldn't have cared less about my appearance and now I'm having so much fun with makeup and it doesn't cause reactions.

Oooooooooooooh Donna, maybe your email will end up in the testimonial section at EM. You will be beautiful and famous!!! ;)

EM is changing lives, one face at a time!

You should honestly be a spokesperson for EM, Julie. Love your slogan!

Me too Joni, I am having a hard time deciding if I should order, if I should wait. I go to the EM website, sign in, and stare at the contents of my cart......then I think about other color possibilities, should I change out some of my colors or just go with it as is? So much pressure

:lol::lol:

Ok, Best Friends, well since I don't have Anytime in order to compare it to side by side I am not sure what to tell you.

I'm terrible at describing colors

When I apply it it isn't really strong on, it doesn't seem to be extremely highly pigmented, too dark or harsh, or anything like that. But I wouldn't exactly describe it as too light.

On the website they are side by side, it does look like Best Friends has more color to it between the two.

I am looking at it in the jar now, it truly is a rosey mauve like the description says, very pretty.

I don't know if I was any help, this probably confused you even more

Has anybody tried Swimming Pool blush?

That is a negatory for me Mango.

I considered it, but Waffle Cone went in my cart instead.

I have Best Friends, it was the first blush I ordered. It is a mauve/rose pink. I like the color but I like jump rope much better as a blush, it is more mauve, less rose. I like Best Friends under my natural lip gloss.

I thought when I was using Best Friends as a blush that it was too strong a color on me, but then started mixing it into a little foundation and liked it quite well that way.

I keep returning to Jump Rope as my blush of choice though.

I also went over all my current foundations yesterday, and came back to the one I am using, sun-kissed fair. It is really close to multi-tasking in the jar at least. I think it has a little less pink undertone, but it isn't yellow either. I wore multi-tasking yesterday and it is fine but it is more noticeable to me that I am wearing foundation, while the sun-kissed fair seems to blend in.

I am looking for the Monistat gel that is supposed to work as a primer, I might have seen this on the EM forum rather than here. I want to try to see if I can get a smoother look.

Today's review:

Wearing the free sample Ivory that they describe as a foundation/eye color. The first brush touch down on my face was pretty light for me, and it's in Original Glo formulation, so probably will be too glowy for me, but once I got it on all over, it looked okay. Probably won't be a keeper as far as foundation...I may try it as an eyecolor eventually, but with my oily eyelids, I'm thinking Original Glo won't work well for that. (Oh, and I DO have on the Sunlight Finishing Dust as a primer on my eyes and face.)

Blush: Okay folks, the burning answers to some of those questions I saw posted overnight, lol. I am wearing a lavendar sweater today, so I decided to try Anytime blush. Um, waaayyyy tooooo light for me, lol. It's a pretty color so I'll try this again with a different foundation and if that doesn't work, I'll try it as an eye color, and if that doesn't work, I'll try it as a lip gloss, lol. I want this color somehow. :P

So then I put on Veranda over that, which looks a bit darker. Um, that was also way too light...looked like someone hit me with a "grey" powder puff. I also love this color though, so will try it with all the other combinations I mentioned for Anytime.

So THEN I tried Soft Touch. Okay, I think by that time there was just tooooo much white dust on my face. That also didn't show. This is also a really pretty color, so I'll again try it with other foundations and in other ways.

I wiped off as much of the white dust  as I could without taking off my foundation, and put on BEST FRIENDS!! Okay, bingo, hit a winner. This is beautiful...nice mauvy pink. Very nice on--course, I'll have to try this on it's own before I do a double  on it. :P

Eyes: Bedtime story--used as a base...it looked pretty light when it first went on, but I decided to just wait it out until I got the other stuff on.

Net Surfing-- Love this...have it on the lid and when blended up over the Bedtime Story, was just about what I was looking for a couple of weeks ago when talking about wanting lavendars.

Mystic Night--   I love this...I have it on as an eyeliner. Very pretty smokey purple. Love it!!!!

I came to the site looking for a daily moisturizer - and I've ordered a sample kit of makeup.:D I'm excited.

Has anybody tried Swimming Pool blush?

I have swimming pool. It looks quite brown in the container, but looks OK if applied with a light hand. It has no sparkle, so it's nice for a non-sparkly day like casual Friday. :)

I got my last order on Wednesday. I ordered it on Saturday, so I am quite pleased with the quick turnaround. I opened all the eyeshadows and applied each one up and down my left arm. By the time I was done trying all 10 colors, I looked like I had been in a horrifying car wreck or had some strange version of flesh eating bacteria. :D I love all the colors I got, but my favorites so far are pots and pans (a lovely sparkly pink), wild flowers (a nice matte puce color - in a good way) and mystic night (a royal blue/black kinda thing). I can't decide what color to try next. I got floating feathers because I read it was a good hilighter. Now I have to admit that I have no idea what a hlighter is used for. Oh senior cult members, enlighten me!

One thing I will mention about the blush color I got for my sample kit. It is Veranda. I think it was described as an icy pink shade with a touch of purple. This stuff is lavendar. There's no touch of purple about it. It tried putting it on, and it hardly showed. Bythe time I had enough on to show, I looked like I was healing up from a good beating. I did try it as an eye color, though, and it is a very wearable lavendar. I have been looking for an eye color like this. The quest for the perfect blush continues. So far jump rope and chit chat are my favorites. I can't decide what to try net. Cookie sheet? Pink ribbon?

Far from expert on the subject, lol, but highlighters....

The book I'm reading says to highlight any area that you want to bring forward. Lighter colors come forward and darker colors recede.

I have deep set (relatively) eyes, so technically I SHOULDN'T highlight my brow bone. I do anyway because I'm a rebel. If your eyes are not deepset (or you are a rebel) you could highlight the area right underneath the eyebrow.

The other places (which I HAVEN'T tried yet) are just above the cheekbones, down the center of the nose (this would be especially good for me since I have a big nose, and especially if I contour the sides of my nose with a darker color, lol), and in the center of the chin. There's also a couple of places on the forhead, but I don't really want to highlight that areacovered by bangs anyway. :P

dlp252 Apprentice

I just got a compliment!! :P Someone said I looked really nice today, then asked if I was wearing makeup. :P

For the lighter blushes - Soft Touch and Anytime - you guys might be surprised by how nice they are when swiped over other colors. They're nice for brightening and lightening things up.

Have you guys ever gotten an EM shade you thought you hated, then tired it again several weeks later only to discover it's fabulous?

Well that happened to me this morning. Spring Pink lip gloss is fantastic. I had read that you have to kind of activate the pigment in some of the EM glosses buy using it a few times first, so I swiped it over my hand several times and bam...a better color. :D

I wiped off as much of the white dust as I could without taking off my foundation, and put on BEST FRIENDS!! Okay, bingo, hit a winner. This is beautiful...nice mauvy pink. Very nice on--course, I'll have to try this on it's own before I do a double on it.

Do I need to ad Best Friends to my cart now too?

:D:D I'm excited to try this one!

So today, in celebration of Quit Your Job Friday:

Eyes - Good China, Hot Chocolate and Samba Lessons (:wub::wub: <---my feelings towards Samba Lessons)

Cheeks - To Do List, Corner Office and Light Pink

All Over Face - Natural

Lips - Spring Pink

Eeeeek! This is interesting. I always felt the lighter colors looked better on me but didn't realize why. I have deep set eyes and it's true when I try to do a smokey look or dark eye shadows, I look tired. I also have the puffy type eye lids so I probably shouldn't be highlighting that area either. Do they suggest an alernative method for eyes.

I just got a compliment!! :P Someone said I looked really nice today, then asked if I was wearing makeup. :P

Yay on the compliment! :D

Hehe! I actually left the house without any makeup on today. It was only to drop off a truck for repair and I didn't have to see anyone, but I felt really awkward, lol!

I love highlighter colors! Camomile is a really great brow highlighter. It's absolutely beautiful. I also love Spin Cycle and Light Pink. I highlight...pretty much everything lol.....upper cheeks, brows, inner corner of my eyes..and a line down the nose really works too.

Wow wow wow wow wow!!!:wub::wub:

I got my order today, and I am absolutely hooked now!

I ripped open the box and ran right into the bathroom to start playing lol.

I started out with sunlight concealer....it went on VERY yellow, and that scared me right away. It did cover my dark circles really well, but man, that yellow....I wasn't sure. I got the concealer brush in my kit, and I love it. I put the sunlight on wet, and it was great. I have a huge pimple today, and the sunlight covered it perfectly.

I got the new flat top brush, and I now see what you guys were talking about with the difference in the brushes! It's soooo soft, and it put my foundation on beautifully. I used the fair in original glow today, and it was perfect. Once I got the foundation over the sunlight concealer, the yellow didn't show at all! I followed that with the finishing dust....it feels so good going on your skin! My face looks flawless.

I went with In The Garden on my eyes today, with my foundation as a base....I absolutely love it! The sparkles are just so pretty. I used the smokey eyeliner....I do need a thinner brush to apply that, since I'm used to liquid liner, and I only had an eye shadow thing to put it on with today, but I still love the way it looks.

I went over my face with the finishing dust one more time to clean up the shadow mess, and used the Nick Nack blush....kind of light, but very pretty. I have on Cherry Fizz lipgloss, which is so pretty! The only thing I don't like is that it feels like it's very "melty"...like the tube won't last long.

My best friend came over and LOVED the way it looked, so I showed her all my goodies. She uses BM, and now she's switching! LOL

Starry Eyed looks very pretty, I think I'll try that tomorrow. The Cherry Fizz eye color looks pale, but I'm sure it'll be better when it's on. Text Message is a little scary, kind of dark for a blush with my pale skin, I think. But I will try it, and even if it's too dark on my cheeks, I think it'll be a great eye shadow. All Smiles isn't exactly what I thought it was, but it's pretty. Jump Rope is very pale too, but a nice shade. I can't wait to try them all! The Bisque color correcter is a little dark, I think....but hey, it was free!

Thank you all so much for all your advice and input, and for being here! I would have never found this amazing product without the cult!

It's funny you mention that. I recently saw an ad for a "medical spa" (whatever the heck that is) that offers semi-permanent eyelash dying for $20. I actually considered it  I won't do it though...a quick google search told me it has been known to cause blindness

TATOOING though? OUCH!

So I told a friend of mine yesterday that I am the founder of an online monster make-up cult.

Her response: "That is rad."

I was expecting her to be like :huh:

So I recently had allergy testing for IGE antibodies in response to foods. My test results came back positive to corn, white potatoes, egg whites. Tomatoes, almonds and peanuts to name a few.  I have had obvious reactions to a few of these - particularly tomatoes and corn- both GI issues. I don’t really understand all this allergy versus celiac stuff. If the food allergies are mild do I have to avoid these foods entirely? I don’t know what I will eat if I can’t  have corn based gluten free products
    • Kris2093u4
Geography makes a difference.  I'm in the West and Trader Joe's gluten-free bread tastes great and is a better price than most gluten-free breads sold elsewhere in my area.
    • JForman
We have four children (7-14 yo), and our 7 year old was diagnosed with NCGS (though all Celiac labs were positive, her scope at 4 years old was negative so docs in the US won't call it celiac). We have started her on a Gluten Free diet after 3 years of major digestive issues and ruling out just about everything under the sun. Our home and kitchen and myself are all gluten-free. But I have not asked my husband/her dad or her other siblings to go completely gluten-free with us. They are at home, but not out of the home. This has led to situations when we are eating out where she has to consistently see others eating things she can't have and she has begun to say "Well, I can't have <fill in the blank>...stupid gluten."  How have you supported your gluten-free kiddos in the mental health space of this journey, especially young ones like her. I know it's hard for me as an adult sometimes to miss out, so I can't imagine being 7 and dealing with it! Any tips or ideas to help with this?

By the time I was 5 I had my first auto0immune disorder, Migraine headaches, with auras to blind me, and vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound. I was 5 years old, and my stepfather would have pizza night, milling his own flour, making thick cheesy gluten pizza, that I would eat and the next day, I would have serious migraines, and my mother & stepfather did nothing about my medical problems. When I was 17 in my first year at college, I was diagnosed with my 2nd known auto-immune disorder, Meniere's disease. I was a elite athlete, a swimmer, and soccer player. And once again my parents didn't think anything of understanding why I had a disorder only older people get. Now after my mother passed from Alzheimer's disease she also suffered with living with gluten. She had a rash for 30 years that nobody could diagnose. She was itchy for 45 years total. My brother had a encapsulated virus explodes in his spleen and when this happened his entire intestines were covered with adhesions, scar tissue and he almost lost his life. He has 5 daughters, and when I finally was diagnosed after being pregnant and my body went into a cytokine storm, I lost my chance to have children, I ended up having Hashimoto's disease, Degenerative Disc disease, and my body started to shut down during my first trimester. I am 6ft tall and got down to 119lbs. My husband and I went to a special immunologist in Terrace, California. They took 17 vials of blood as we flew there for a day and returned home that evening. In 3 weeks, we had the answer, I have Celiac disease. Once this was known, only my father and husband made efforts to change their way of feeding me. At the family cabin, my stepfather & mother were more worried that I would ruin Thanksgiving Dinner. It wasn't until one of my cousins was diagnosed with Celiac disease. They finally looked into getting Gluten Free flour and taking measures to limit "gluten" in meals. He did nothing but ask for me to pay for my own food and wi-fi when I came to the cabin to stay after our house burned down. When he informed my mother, they proceeding to get into a physical fight and she ended up with a black eye. The is just more trauma for me. Sam had no interest in telling the truth about what he wanted. He lied to my mother that he had asked my husband if I could pay for "food" when he asked Geoffrey if I had money to pay for my wi-fi. My mother hates when he spends so much time on the computer so he lied and said I could pay for my own food. I will remind you I weighed 119lbs at this time. (At 6ft) that is a very sick looking person. Neither parent was worried about my weight, they just fought about how cheap my stepfather was. As my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2014. He had her sign over the will to a trust and added his children. He had no testimonial capacity at the time, so she signed without proper papers. Making this Trust null and void. When I gave my brother my childhood home, my mother stated I would be getting an equal part of inheritance to the house on Race. It currently worth 2.0 million $. I got nothing, and my stepfather has since disowned me b/c of my claim and he knows that my mother would never have left it uneven between my biological brother and myself. She sat me and my husband down, as we lived at the Race Street house and treated and took care of it as our own. My brother took over b/c he was going through a horrific divorce and needed a home so he could get a better custody deal with his soon to be ex-wife who was a Assist DA for Denver. She used the girls against him, and he & I were the primary caregivers. We, Judd and I spent the most time with them pre the divorce. Once Judd moved into the house, he threw all of my mother, grandmother and my family heirlooms out to the Goodwill. Nobody told my mother about this as she was going through cancer treatment and had Alzheimer's disease in her mother and her sister. My stepfather and biological brother took advantage of this matter, as I called a "family council" that my brother just never could make it to at the last moment. All of the furnishing, kitchen ware, everything was in the house my brother just moved into. He had had 2 weddings, I chose to elope b/c my stepfather ruined my brother's first wedding by talking about his relationship with my brother in front of my dad and his entire family, insulting him and having my grandfather leave the ceremony. It was a disaster. My stepfather just plays dumb and blames my father for the slight. I was the only child not to have a wedding. So, my mother and stepfather never had to pay for a thing. My mother had had an agreement with my father he'd pay for college and all medical issues with their kids, myself and Judd. So truly my mother never had to pay for anything big for me in her entire life. I am looking for anyone that has had a similar story, where they grew up in a household that had a baker that regularly milled flour and ate gluten. What happened to you? DId you suffer from different auto-immune diseases b/c of living with a baker using "gluten" Please let me know. I have been looking into legal ways to get my stepfather to give me what my mother had promised, and he erased. Thank you for listening to my story. Jane Donnelly

Possibly gluten withdrawal. Lot's of info on the internet about it. Somewhat controversial but apparently gluten plugs into the same neuro sensors as opiates do and some people get a similar type withdrawal as they do when quitting opiates. Another issue is that gluten-free facsimile flours are not fortified with vitamins and minerals as is wheat flour (in the U.S. at least) so when the switch is made to gluten-free facsimile foods, especially if a lot of processed gluten-free foods are being used as substitutes, vitamin and mineral deficiencies can result. There is also the possibility that she has picked up a virus or some but that is totally unrelated to going gluten-free.
