Maybe it is the type of file, like jpeg or wks. I use jpeg for all of my saved pics, and they transfer well to my avatar.

Hi, this is driving me nuts. I have a nice avatar, but I wanted to put in a picture of myself. I have it in other forums, and it works fine.

The picture I am trying to use is only 12 kb, and 80 x 97 pixels, well below the limit. Still, every time I try to update it, it will just resize my old avatar to the same size as the one I want, distorting it in the process. I even left the forum after deleting the old one, and went as far as getting off the Internet, before trying to upload it again. And despite the fact that I had DELETED the old picture, it would pop right up again! I am baffled and frustrated!

Please help me with this!

Thanks

Hi Ursula,

I can see a pic of you - try hitting refresh, if that doesn't work, you may need to log out and log back in?

Hugs!

Karen

Hi Ursula, I see the picture of you! I had to hit refresh at the top of my screen, you probably need to, too.

You can also clear the cookies set for this board, and then the new pic should show up. I can see it too.

Thank you so much, such an easy fix, and yet so frustrating if you simply don't have a clue you need to do that! And I kept resizing it smaller and smaller, thinking that was the problem. Now I put a better one in, clicked refresh, and there it is. I learn something new every day!

I have removed my current avatar several times and tried to boot up a new avatar picture and for some reason it keeps adding this one (it just changes the dimensions of the picture). I do not understand why,I have changed my avatar several times, and I can't seem to get rid of this picture. What's going on?

maybe you need to refresh your screen?

Its a browser cache problem. Change your avater to what you want, and when its all done, hold SHIFT and hit the REFRESH button. You will then see the new avatar.

Just hit "refresh"--your new picture is there!

Leave the site wont do it... well eventually it would, but not in 2 days. :) The only way to force it its hold SHIFT and hit REFRESH (its F5 in IE if I recall right, or just mouse click the icon).

I was going to add a nice picture to distinguish my online appearance a bit from the dull, pictureless tedium of grey/no avatar, and it said:

"Sorry, the board administrator has not enabled your permissions for this part of the control panel."

Am I not special enough yet?

flagbabyds Collaborator

Did you do personal picture? 'cause that is not enabled for anyone, go to "My Controls" then on the side, click on "edit avatar settings" and then you should be able to upload your own picture. Make sure it is compressed and all.

CarlaB Enthusiast

No, when I was trying I got that once, but then was able to. For me it had to do with the size of the pic. The one I ended up posting was cut down. Don't know the solution, but you should be able to post a pic.

Edit: Molly that's exactly what happened and that's the solution! Then I also had to cut it down.

flagbabyds Collaborator

and everyone is special enough, even if you haven't posted, i think you can have an avatar.

got it... i was at personal picture instead. thanks

I was just wondering how I go about putting a picture or quote or something under my name like I see on so many others?? Thanks :P

jerseyangel Proficient

Hi Jenny--You can go to "My Controls" and then to "Edit Avatar Settings" on the left. Then just follow the instructions. I think you have to have a certain number of posts to put a quote under your avatar--500, maybe?

jennyj Collaborator

thank you :D

Every time I try to download a picture from my computer, I get the error message including something about the picture exceeding the limits for my group. What group am I in and why isn't it re-sizing my picture like it says it will.

Ursa Major Collaborator

I had the same problem, until I resized my picture myself to the required size (I think it was max. 50 kb, and 100 x 100 pixels, but I'm not 100% sure), and then it worked fine.

Thus has got to STOP , medical bit believing us! I literally went through 31 years thinking it was just a food allergy as its downplayed by medical if THEY weren't the ones who diagnosed us! Im positive for HLA-DQ2 which is first celiac patient per Iran and Turkey. Here in the States especially in Cali its why do you feel that way? Why do you think your celiac? Your not eating gluten so its something else.Medical caused me depression. I thought I was safe with my former pcp for 25 years considering i thought everything I went through and going through will be available when I get fired again for health. Health not write-ups my health always come back when you're better.Im not and being tossed away at no fault to my own other than shitty genes.I was denied disability because person said he didn't know how to classify me! I said Im celiac, i have ibs, hernia, sciatica, high blood pressure, in constant pain have skin and eye issues and menopause intensified everything. With that my celiac nightmare began to reprove my disregarded disease to a bunch of clowns who think they are my careteam when they said I didn't have...I feel Im still breathing so I can fight this so no body else has to deal with this nightmare. Starting over with " new care team" and waisting more time on why I think I am when diagnosed in 1994 before food eliminated from my diet. P.s everything i went through I did write to medical board, so pretty sure I will continue to have a hard time.

@Scatterbrain, Thiamine Vitamin B1 and amino acid Taurine work together.  Our bodies can make Taurine from meats consumed.  Our bodies cannot make Thiamine and must consume thiamine from food.  Meat is the best source of B vitamins like Thiamine.   Vegetarians may not make sufficient taurine since they don't eat meat sources of taurine.  Seaweed is the best vegetarian source of taurine. Vegetarians may not consume sufficient Thiamine since few veggies are good sources.  Whole grains, legumes, and nuts and seeds contain thiamine.  Many of these sources can be hard to digest and absorb for people with Celiac disease.   You may find taking the forms of thiamine called Benfotiamine or TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) and a B Complex will give the benefits you're looking for better than taurine alone.

@Jmartes71, I went to Doterra's site and had a look around.  The Doterra TerraZyme supplement really jumped out at me.  Since we, as Celiacs, often have digestive problems, I looked at the ingredients.  The majority of the enzymes in this supplement are made using black mold, Aspergillus!  Other enzymes are made by yeast Saccharomyces!  Considering the fact that Celiac often have permeable intestines (leaky gut syndrome), I would be very hesitant to take a product like this.  Although there may not be live black mold or yeast in the product, the enzymes may still cause an immune system response which would definitely cause inflammation throughout the body.   Skin, eyes, and intestines are all made from the same basic type of cells.  Your skin on the outside and eyes can reflect how irritated the intestines are on the inside.  Our skin, eyes, and intestines all need the same vitamins and nutrients to be healthy:  Vitamin A, Niacin B3 and Tryptophan, Riboflavin B2, Biotin B7, Vitamin C, and Omega Threes.  Remember that the eight B vitamins work together.  Just taking high doses of just one, vitamin like B12, can cause a deficiency in the others.  Taking high doses of B12 can mask a Folate B9 deficiency.  If you take B12, please take a B Complex, too.  Thiamine B1 can be taken in high doses safely without toxicity.  Thiamine is needed by itself to produce energy so every cell in the body can function, but Thiamine also works with the other B vitamins to make life sustaining enzymes and digestive enzymes.  Deficiencies in either Niacin, Vitamin C, or Thiamine can cause digestive problems resulting in Pellagra, Scurvy, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi.   If you change your diet, you will change your intestinal microbiome.  Following the Autoimmune Protocol Diet, a Paleo diet, will starve out SIBO bacteria.  Thiamine keeps bacteria in check so they don't get out of control as in SIBO.  Thiamine also keeps MOLDS and Yeasts from overgrowth.   Menopause symptoms and menstrual irregularities are symptomatic of low Vitamin D.   Doctors are not as knowledgeable about malnutrition as we need them to be.  A nutritionist or dietician would be more helpful.   Take control of your diet and nutrition.  Quit looking for a pill that's going to make you feel better overnight.  The Celiac journey is a marathon, not a sprint.   "Let food be your medicine, and let medicine be your food."

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.
