Eggs, soy, or dairy???

I've searched and haven't found any without mayo, but I would really LOVE to have some ranch type/flavored dressing.

Thanks everyone!!

Here are a couple links to egg free mayo recipes that might do.

The second recipe on here just calls for soymilk, but I bet any other milk sub would work (maybe just add a little less).

And once you've found a good mayo or base, I have the best recipe for Ranch dressing. It comes from Carol Fenster's book 1000 gluten-free Recipes, and it's the closest thing I've made to "real" ranch dressing.

Ranch Dressing

Dry ingredients:

1/2 tsp celery salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp dried oregano

1/4 tsp dried chives

1/4 tsp dried parsley

1/4 tsp dried marjoram

1/4 tsp dried savory

1/4 tsp sugar

1/4 tsp onion powder

1/8 tsp garlic powder

Wet ingredients:

1/2 c mayo (I've also used tofutti sour cream, which has worked well, if a bit sourer)

1/4 c DF milk (The recipe calls for 1/2 c, but it's a bit runny w/ that much)

1 tbsp white wine vinegar (I use cider vinegar, b/c that's what I have)

In a blender, process the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until smooth (You can also just pour everything into a small tupperware, and shake it up). Let stand one hour to allow flavors to blend. Store, tightly covered, in the fridge, for up to a week.

Makes about 3 servings

The recipe doesn't specify, but I've always let the dressing sit in the fridge to blend the flavors. Anyone know if you're supposed to leave it at room temperature?

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
