Pf Chang's - Crunchy Stuff In Lettuce Wraps

Hi all!

Whenever I go eat PF Chang's I get my food to go. My usual order is Lettuce Wraps and the Chang's Spicy Chicken. And maybe some cake. :D The other night I went there with a friend, and we ate in the restaurant. I ordered the Lettuce Wraps and they were served on top of some crunchy white noodles. When I order the Lettuce Wraps to go, they are not served with those noodles. So what are those noodles? Are they rice? I ended up feeling very sick that night and all day yesterday, and I have no idea if it was the Lettuce Wraps or the Spicy Chicken. This is the first time I've ever gotten sick from Chang's since going gluten-free. My Lettuce Wraps definitely looked different than my friend's - hers were much darker and richer looking.

Thanks!

They are rice noodles and most likely not on your to-go meal is because they would get soggy.

There is always a chance for a mix-up, but I have yet to hear of one. If you notice, even the plates that they serve are different shaped to aid the waitstaff.

As for the plates, I think it depends on the PF Changs. When I contacted them, it wasn't the shape of the plates, but whether they were plain white or had a logo on it.

Yeah different managers and kitchen staff do somthing different. The one here where i live use a flowerd shape carrot on it.

I always eat the little white crunchy things and have never had a problem with them.

Thanks for your input, everyone! I have no idea what made me sick, but I hope to have better luck next time!

@pilber309, as knittykitty pointed out, lactose intolerance is not the only issue with dairy in celiac community. Lactose intolerance has to do with the sugar component of dairy, lactose. However, some celiacs react to a protein fraction in dairy, namely, casein, like they do gluten.

It could well be a new intolerance developing.  Does your diet incorporate pure oats i.e. those safe for coeliac consumption?  I find I can only tolerate a certain amount, same goes for dairy in fact, then I start to get gastric symptoms.   Or have you started consuming a new type of gluten-free bread, or more gluten-free bread than normal, that might contain oats?  I remember reading a post on this forum from a woman who had started to eat a lot of loaves made with oat flour and her coeliac symptoms kicked off again.  I am sure you know this, but some coeliacs cannot tolerate pure oats.

I eat a lot of dairy but its intermittent is this burning so I would assume it would happen all the time. Plus I have been tested for lactose intolerance  etc and I am fine and the other symptoms of that I don't get. As a aside  my dad died last month after a long illness so I wonder if the stress of that might be a influence as a bodily reaction to stress.
