I have been jonesing for ice cream lately. Must be spring. DQ said the soft serve is gluten free but I need gooey and nutty. So I wrote to Hagen-Daz. Here is the responce for anyone who is feeling the same way.

They're sending coupons and everything! That's too cool! I've been using Breyers. Haven't checked the gooey stuff. But I figure, with it being all natural, there's no guessing what the ingredients are. Does anybody know anything about Breyers that I should be aware of?

KaitiUSA Enthusiast

Breyers won't hide anything so just check labels

I eat mostly Haagen-Dazs....also if you go to Edys website and go to flavor finder, then you can choose "gluten free" as an option you want and get the gluten-free list.

Just sat down last night with a pint and me and my boyfriend just polished off the entire thing!!! I understand the craving, must be spring B) . But it was the Haagen-Dazs and I had no reaction!

You can also have the Turkey Hill Premium ice creams. And the hot fudge sundae at MickeyD's is glutenfree. It's even diet ice cream I just found out. Hm! And at the moment they have this special offer 2 for 2 dollars. At least here in PA...

Ice cream is great, but I'm having lactose issues right now so I've switched to popsicles. But, Edy's/Breyers fruit bars are getting old. The Good Humor popsicles list natural and artificial flavors in their ingredient list, but won't disclose the source. Does anyone know if the Popsicle brand (by Good Humor) are o.k.? What about brands?

I never ate them before, but on the Sholland-List it says:

Breyers/Good Humor Popsicle Ice Pops - all fruit flavors; No Sugar added Popsicle Ice Pops

celiac3270 Collaborator

Yea...I've also heard that Popsicle brand is gluten-free.

hthorvald--I'm also lactose intolerant, and Breyer's lactose free vanilla is wonderful. I haven't eaten it since going gluten-free, but Breyer's will not hide any gluten, and from what I've been told, it looks to be gluten-free--another option besides popsicles, which do get tiresome!

KaitiUSA Enthusiast

Breyers, Good Humor, Popsicle will not hide any gluten at all so just read their lables and they will tell you

Thanks for the info. What's a Sholland List?

Helen.

They're referring to this list:

This is great information thanks! I love ice cream!

Can I ask how everyone put their information to appear at the bottom of their messages? I have a feeling this place is going to become a second home for me while I'm online and want to share some more information about me as well.

Thanks

Go to my controls up by your log in and go to edit signature

celiac3270 Collaborator

Go here: Open Original Shared Link

or as Kaiti said, to "My Controls" and then "edit signature". If you want to use any colors or bold font, etc, I would advise you to not click once, type and try to close them all correctly. Just highlight what you want to make..say, red, and then choose the color. Also keep in mind that if you do that there will be all this weird code, but that should be removed when you update it.

If you need any help let us know here or post under the technical section :)

Cold/flu or gluten poisoning? Hello. I've had another similar episode. I find it very difficult to differentiate between the symptoms of a cold or flu and those caused by gluten poisoning. In fact, I don't know if my current worsening is due to having eaten something that disagreed with me or if the cold I have has caused my body, which is hypersensitive, to produce symptoms similar to those of gluten poisoning.

I'm no longer dealing with constipation. I got my liver test last month and it was in normal range. Two years ago I did have a vitamin D deficiency but I'm know taking vitamin D3 pills. Last month I got my vitamin D checked and it was in normal range. I don't believe I've had my choline checked. However, I do drink almond milk eat Greek yogurt on a daily basis.

Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) can be associated with low ferritin and iron deficiency. Once Celiac Disease (1% of the population affected) has been ruled out by tests the next step is to check for Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (10% of the population affected) by eliminating gluten for a trial period, then re-introduce Gluten Challange. Have you been supplementing Iron? How are your liver enzymes? Low levels of ferritin indicate iron deficiency, while  59% transferrin saturation indicates high iron levels.  Possibly indicating Fatty Liver Disease.  Choline is crucial for liver health, and deficiency is a known trigger for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver.  Some experts say that less than 10% eat the the Food and Nutrition Board established Adequate Intake that are based on the prevention of liver damage. Severe constipation and hemorrhoids may be linked to a bile or choline deficiency.  "Ninety-five percent of phospholipids (PLs) in bile is secreted as phosphatidylcholine or lecithin."  Fatty acid composition of phospholipids in bile in man   Deficiency of these bile salts causes the bile to get thick. Some people with Celiac Disease are misdiagnosed with Gall Bladder bile issues.  Removal of the gallbladder provides only temporary relief. Whether or not celiac disease or NCGS are your issues you need to look at your vitamin D blood level.

If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.
