Do celiac disease Labs Take Longer For Results?

I don't want to call and harass my doctor unnecessarily, so I thought I'd ask around here first. I had my blood work done for an antigliadan panel and thyroid levels last Friday. I know lab response times vary, but mine are usually back within two or three days. Is there something about the celiac lab that takes longer? I'm so curious what it says and how to proceed, and I'm still eating toast and sandwiches and pasta in case I need more work don, and I'm ready to change my diet already!!

Thanks. Just needed to blow a little steam. I'm not very patient for UNimportant things, and this is pretty important.

In my experience it can take up to two weeks for the celiac panels to return. Call your doctors office and ask them for a time frame if the results are not in yet. Also some offices will not contact you if results are negative. I ask doctors to always send me a hard copy of my results no matter what they are.

My local hospital (small town, USA) had to send my celiac blood panel to another lab to be processed and it took a bit longer than if it had been done in-house, like normal blood work. And yes, I was pretty impatient, too. Hope you get your results soon!!!

Sometimes the Celiac labs have to go to another lab. First your office might send them to one lab that then sends them on to another. Also, my Peditrician said that some labs only run certain labs on certain days. For example, maybe only run celiac on Thur. Can't hurt to call this a.m. & see. Waiting is sooo hard!

Tests like total IGa are usually done in-house, but the gliadin, EMA, and ttG tests are usually sent out from your lab to either Promethius, Mayo Clinic - or another Celiac testing lab. That is my experience. I would definitely expect a week or two for labs to come back, unless you go to a celiac center. I went to Cleveland Clinic and had them within a few days posted on an electronic chart option.

Thanks, everyone! I'm right outside Philly so I didn't think it would matter as much but I guess so. My doctor said he'd call either way once he heard anything.

Hey, I just had my test done yesterday at the Cleveland Clinic and can't wait to hear back!  Did you have any trouble getting a diagnosis?  I like my doctor and she was fine about doing the test but I think she only did the IGG and IGA.  Is that common to start?  Did you have to do the endoscopy?

But M&M's contain milk, and would not be at all like a Tootsie Roll.

I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets for disability because I show no signs of celiac BECAUSE IM GLUTENFREE! Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver. After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values.  Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.  I use them as a gluten free substitute for a peanut butter sandwich.  Try her on grass fed, pasture fed milk. While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

I see it everyday on my feeds.  They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts.  I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field.  Some days I would just like to scream.  So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach them properly. I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.
