Jack Link's And Mountain Dew Voltage

Roda Rising Star

I put my youngest son gluten free a week ago. The boys went out with dad and came back with Mountain Dew Voltage and Jack Link's KC Masterpiece Barbeque beef steak. My gluten free child had already eaten the beef steak and had drank some of the Mountain Dew. Both have natural flavorings or flavorings on the lable. I guess it's too late if they are not gluten free since Dad already let him eat it. He did look at the lables but for wheat only. He still has a little to learn about gluten hidden in flavorings.

You can look at Pepsi's website. Most or all of the sodas are gluten-free. Kc Masterpiece BBQ sauce is gluten-free, plain flavor for sure. Don't know what "Jack's Link" is.

Jack Link's is a brand of beef jerkey and beef jerky. Here is the link. There is a question regarding gluten, but they seem to only say they will list wheat. I emailed them so I will see. Just thought I would see if anyone had any info also. I figure the soda is fine, but was questioning the other.

I just so happened to contact pepsi this morning to ask if their products are gluten-free. Below is the email they sent me. I figure this is a good place to post it, plus it gives official confirmation that the 'natural flavors' in their drinks don't have have gluten.

Dear Mark,

Thank you for contacting us at Pepsi with your inquiry.

While this company does not make gluten-free label claims, none of the ingredients in Pepsi-Cola products are derived from grains or flours that have been linked to malabsorption syndrome associated with gluten sensitivity.

We want to assure you that our products continue to be suitable for gluten-sensitive individuals with Celiac Disease. Please know that we fully understand the seriousness of this issue, which is why we have shared this information with Celiac Sprue Association and the Celiac Disease Foundation.

Please visit www.pepsiproductfacts.com for additional ingredient and nutrition information on all our beverages.

Thanks again for writing and for your interest in our products.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.

I hope you are on the mend soon. About 1 in 5 people who contracted chicken pox as a child go on to develop shingles in later life - it is not uncommon. There are 5 known members of the herpes virus family including chicken pox that commonly infect humans, and they all cause lifelong infections. The exact cause of viral reactivation as in the case of shingles or cold sores is not well understood, but stress, sunburn and radiotherapy treatment are known triggers. Some of the herpes viruses are implicated in triggering autoimmune diseases: Epstein-Barr virus is suspected of triggering multiple sclerosis and lupus, and there is a case where it is suspected of triggering coeliac disease. As to whether coeliac disease can increase the likelihood of viral reactivation, there have been several cohort studies including a large one in Sweden suggesting that coeliac disease is associated with a moderate increase in the likelihood of developing shingles in people over the age of 50. US 2024 - Increased Risk of Herpes Zoster Infection in Patients with Celiac Disease 50 Years Old and Older Sweden 2018 - Increased risk of herpes zoster in patients with coeliac disease - nationwide cohort study
