Yes. I think it's generally awesome for a box mac & cheese. I can only say that it is way better with the butter than without. I only know this because I once realized after I had the pasta in the water that I had no butter or I wouldn't know.

Has anyone had Annie's gluten free white chedder mac and cheese? Any tips on making it?

Used to get it for the kids...they like Sam Mills Mac and Cheese better now if you can find -- added bonus -- it is cheeper.

Oh and Velveeta is making a white block of cheese type food substance that is awesome tossed with any pasta shape.

Adalaide Mentor

Velveeta also makes cheese sauce in a packet now that you can just squeeze out onto your pasta that is easier even than the block. It's something like $2-3 for a box of 3. They're great for my husband. I can just cook up a batch of gluten-free pasta and throw that on there and it's perfect. And I may sneak a few bites no matter how bad I know it is for me. It's so yummy. I'm terrible, I shouldn't like things that aren't food.

Yo Addie!

The new AP Flour just arrived in my monthly subscribe and save shipment :)

Hmmmm....what shall I try it in first - cookies, yes I believe cookies will be a very good experiment and I do have a few items I'd like knocked off the Honey Do List ;)

Adalaide Mentor

Lemme know how they turn out and what recipe you use. I haven't made cookies yet and my husband just spent his day off carrying heaving stuff to my new kitchen for me instead of playing video games. And I'm dragging him shopping and to my vendor meeting. I don't think the rib eyes I decided on for dinner are gonna cut it for a thank you. The carpets are being cleaned tomorrow and I'm going to need recuperating time but I think I could manage some baking on Friday. Cookies sound like just the thing, and he loooooooooooves him some cookies.

I buy it regularly and really like it.  White rice pasta can overcook, but not as easily as corn pasta, so don't overcook it, and yes it is better with the butter added.

I haven't seen those!  I would buy them once and enjoy, and then not again cause they are bad for me, haha.

The heat got bad today...so most of the day was spent "cleaning" the pool ; )

I am going to go for gold with the new gold flour -- our favorite cookie (pre-celiac), other than chocolate chip was crisp sugar cookies - a recipe passed from person to person -- often quickly at time -- never understood their name, but called "My Cup Sugar Cookies".

Can't wait -- no matter how they turn out I'll let you know....likely quite "loudly" if they are good as they are not only my favorite, but my Mom's  .

Tonight's crock recipe rocked!  The recipe calls for it to be served as sandwiches.  Was too hot so I was down in the pool...hubs took over -- at my suggestion he thickened the sauce, pulled a bit out for me, then added a can of diced tomatoes -- threw the whole deal over pasta with a side of yummy carrots :)

Used some left over turkey I put in the freezer and made a Bisquick Turkey pot pie. Yum!

No. It's this one with some modifications

I use a 9x13 pan. So I use about 1 1/4 cup Bisquick for the crust - add a little extra milk if needed to get a thick consistency. I peel , cut boil , drain, 2 potatoes. I use about 1 cup milk and 21/2 cups chicken broth.

There is another recipe with canned soup that is good but pretty salty. Really easy though.

I have an amazing husband who worked his butt off on his day off for me. Halfway through the move I decided I wanted a little lunch. Exactly when the dishes were 100% in the new kitchen and the food was 100% in the old kitchen. Not exactly helpful for finding a meal. Lucky me I had one leftover slice of pizza that I threw in my little oven on a piece of foil and had that after it was warm. I dragged my husband off to my meeting, and will get a smaller space that better suits me that is in the shade for half the price for the markets. YAY!!! Went shopping for a few things we needed and finally splurged for something I've been dying for for months. This is our new move in gift to ourselves. http://www.chefn.com/Product.aspx?id=261

Dinner was pan fried rib eyes (balsamic glazed onions topping for me) with ore ida simply potato wedges and corn. Simple, yet perfectly delicious and a great way to end a long and stressful/wonderful day.

Also, last night I noticed a light rash on the backs of my hands. I shrugged it off thinking I must have gotten a little cleaner on me or something that irritated my skin. Today I got into no cleaners, only my dish soap and water. The rash has spread onto the backs of my fingers, one wrist and my hands very lightly yet noticeably puffy and warm to the touch. Panic time, popped the benadryl. I have no idea what the actual hell I'm reacting to. If it's worse when I get up I may end up in an instacare for my morning. Joy.

Adalaide Mentor

This is my new kitchen. It isn't large, but it's all mine! One from right after I finished cleaning and the other is after I moved in my stuff, the counter appliances and such are (maybe) where I like them.

Nothing wrong with the size of that kitchen -- loads of cabinets and less floor to mop :)

Another scorcher today so we continue with the week of KFG cooking...next up is the Balsamic Chicken recipe I posted yesterday -- don't think I'll be doctoring this one much except I'm using a whole cut up chicken -- hubs is a breast man ;)

You guys are funny. I'm not complaining about the size of the kitchen, was just mentioning that it's small. The only downside to it is if we're passing each other we're rubbing up against each other. Well, maybe that isn't a downside after all. ;) There is a "cabinet" around the corner (freestanding) to use as a pantry, that's what makes it feel small. The lack of a pantry.

I'm not sure exactly what will happen tonight for supper. He's working 2 hours earlier than usual to do a sleep study, but I had already made plans to go to my bff's office and work for her this evening (she's an accountant and I do bookkeeping stuff) thinking I'd be home before he gets home late. I guess he's on his own for dinner and to see himself off. I'll just have to feed myself and while that means I could have whatever I want, I'll probably just do something easy with little cleanup. Maybe that burger I keep saying I'm making and don't get around to.

I love your kitchen!

Cool bunnies set.  Do they come as a black and white set or your choose black OR white?

I love those tiered basket things.  (I bought one for myself then donated it to a fundraiser.  Maybe I thought I would buy it back, but the bids went too high.)

My whole house needs to be scrubbed!

Adalaide Mentor

It comes as a black and white set. I had intended when I went into the store to buy the plain little ball that is either red, blue or green and clear. But my husband was all omg this is so cute! And I was like yeah, it's freakin' adorable. And $20. (on sale!) We walked a bit and came back to it deciding we needed both a move in gift and could pass on a few other small things for a while to fit it into our budget. It isn't like they're on sale every day. I may have an impulse shopping problem.

My MIL bought that basket thing when I was doing the Bountiful Baskets produce thing every Saturday morning. There is also a hanging one upstairs. (which I'd prefer to have but takes more effort to move) She doesn't want/need them and told me to take this one so I did when I realized I had nowhere to put all my onions.

We were in a dollar store last night that is closing and I picked up a bargain $.75 bottle of Rainbow Dash colored nail polish. Today is manicure day for me.

Adalaide Mentor

My husband is away for a sleep study again tonight. He didn't sleep enough the first time to get enough readings to be conclusive about needing a c-pap so they're just going to try one to see if it helps since he obviously has at least a moderate apnea problem. I was at the office late (it feels so weird to say that!) with my best friend setting up all my accounts so I can start doing everything and doing taxes tomorrow. (lots of people file late, and there is lots of tax stuff to do all year round) So, with all this going on, I came home and had toast and fried eggs for supper and painted my nails while watching the episode of Grey's Anatomy I've been waiting months for!!!

I also haven't played a minute of video games for over 48 hours, which must be a record for me and haven't played more than 30-45 minutes at a time since last weekend. So, since I'm alone and in far too much pain for sleep I think I'm going to have a late night gaming session to give my nails the time they need to set. And I need some fun since tomorrow is "relax" day while I sit and lose myself in a virtual stack of tax paperwork. A mecca. ^_^ (I'm twisted)

GottaSki Mentor

Last night's Balsamic Chicken rocked the crock....also did something I found brilliant...I married Addie's Brazilian Cheese Bread with Jamie's new donut pan - really worked well..instead of puffs it made firmer cheesy bread rings...hubs hasn't made fun of the donut pans crowding the cupboard...between chocolate carmel donuts and cheesy rings...I think they are safe (he tends to "clear" out kitchen items when I'm horizontal, meanwhile there is an entire shop and storage room downstairs that never gets "cleared of crap" ;)

Still cool here...that'll change in a couple hours...might be one more night of crockin'...Spider-Man with the men late afternoon/early evening - can't wait.

Some interesting articles regarding the use of Zinc Carnosine to help heal gastric ulcers, gastritis and intestinal permeability. I would consult a medical professional about it's use. https://www.nature.com/articles/ncpgasthep0778 https://www.rupahealth.com/post/clinical-applications-of-zinc-carnosine---evidence-review https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7146259/ https://www.fallbrookmedicalcenter.com/zinc-l-carnosine-benefits-dosage-and-safety/

He is. Which makes everything even more difficult. I’m not a believer in “staying for the kids” but I have nowhere to go and it’s not just me, it’s me plus my babies. We live in a beautiful place, lots of land in the country and me and the kids love the place we’ve called home for their entire lives. But Im seeing that he’ll never change, that my kids deserve a happy healthy Momma, and that staying in this as is will be the early death of me. Then I look at the scars covering my entire body…this disease and the chronic stress I’ve been enduring for years that tell me I’m no longer beautiful and no one will ever look at me with interest again. I try self care, try to give myself grace so I can just start loving myself enough to gain strength but the slightest sparkle in my eye and skip in my step attracts his wrath and it all comes crashing ten fold. Life is just absolutely railing me from every single direction leaving me wanting to wave that white flag bc I don’t feel like there’s much hope no matter what happens.

Hi, I was recently diagnosed with Celiac and dermatitis herpetiformis after years of suffering without answers. I lost my mind. I lost my job. I lost so much time. I lost Me. Conventional doctors are opulent come near me and the one who did sat across the room, misdiagnosed me, pumped me full of steroids which collapsed my entire hip for 6 months. So without answers I began my holistic journey. Fast forward a couple of years and still struggling with a mysterious whole body itchy, crawling “skin hell”, perfect teeth now deteriorating, thick hair now thinning rapidly and no more than a day or 2 at most relief….An acquaintance opened up a functional medicine practice. Cash only, I found a way. Within a month tests clearly showing my off the charts gluten allergy/sensitivity as well as the depletion of vital nutrients due to leaky gut and intestinal damage. dermatitis herpetiformis was more than likely what I was experiencing with my skin. I was happy. I thought this is easy, eat healthy Whole Foods, follow the diet restrictions and I finally get to heal and feel confident and like myself again very soon! 😔 Supplements are very pricey but I got them and began my healing. Which leads to the other major issue: not working, stay at home Mom of young kids, entirely financially dependent on my man of 7 plus years. He’s never been supportive of anything I’ve ever done or been thru. He controls everything. I’m not given much money ever at a time and when he does leave money it’s only enough to possibly get gas. His excuse is that I’ll spend it on other things. So my “allowance” is inconsistent and has conditions. He withholds money from me as punishment for anything he wants. Since being diagnosed, he’s gained a new control tactic to use as punishment. He now is in control of when I get to eat. He asked for proof of my diagnosis and diet bc he said I made it up just to be able to eat expensive organic foods. Then after I sent him my file from my doctor he then said she wasn’t a real doctor. 😡. I go days upon days starving, sometimes breaking down and eating things I shouldn’t bc I’m so sick then I pay horribly while he gets annoyed and angry bc I’m not keeping up with all the duties I’m supposed to be doing. His abuse turns full on when I’m down and it’s in these desperate times when I need his support and care the most that I’m punished with silence, being starved, ignored, belittled. He will create more of a mess just bc I’m unable to get up and clean so that when I am better, I’m so overwhelmed with chores to catch up that the stress causes me to go right back into a flare from hell and the cycle repeats. I’m punished for being sick. I’m belittled for starving and asking for healthy clean water. I’m purposely left out of his life. He won’t even tell me he’s going to the grocery or to get dinner bc he doesn’t want me to ask him for anything. I have no one. I have nothing. Im not better. My supplements ran out and I desperately need Vitamin D3 and a methylated B complex at the very minimal just to function….he stares at me blankly…no, a slight smirk, no words. He’s happiest when im miserable and I am miserable.  this is so long and im condensing as much as I can but this situation is so complicated and disgusting. And it’s currently my life. The “IT” girl, the healthy, beautiful, perfect skin, perfect teeth, thick and curly locks for days, creative and talented IT girl….now I won’t even leave this house bc Im ashamed of what this has dont to my body, my skin. Im disgusted. The stress is keeping me from healing and I think he knows that and that’s why he continues to keep me in that state. He doesn’t want me confident or successful. He doesn’t want me healed and healthy bc then how would he put the blame of all his problems on me? This journey has been hell and I’ve been in Hell before. I’ve been killed by an ex, I’ve been raped, robbed, held hostage, abused beyond nightmares but the cruelty I’ve experienced from him bc of this disease is the coldest I’ve ever experienced. I’ve wanted to give up. Starving and in tears, desperate…I found a local food pantry in our small town so I reached out just saying I had Celiac and was on hard times. This woman is blessing me daily with prepared gluten free meals, donations, educational info, people who know this disease and how they manage life and the blessings just keep coming. But it’s overwhelming and I feel like I don’t deserve it at all. He just glared and I know he’s going to sabotage it somehow. I don’t even know what to do anymore. I’m so broken and just want peace and healing.

@Colleen H   I am just curious,  when you were tested for coeliac disease, did the doctors find out if you had any deficiencies? Sometimes muscle pain can be caused by certain deficiencies, for example, magnesium, vitamin D, calcium, and potassium.   Might be worth looking into having some more tests.  Pins and needles can be neuropathy, again caused by deficiencies, such as iron and B12,  which can be reversed if these deficiencies are addressed. In the UK where I live we are usually only tested for iron, B12 and vitamin D deficiencies at diagnosis.   I was very iron anemic and supplementation made a big difference.  B12 was low normal, but in other countries the UK's low normal would be considered a deficiency.  My vitamin D was low normal, and I've been supplementing ever since (when I remember to take it!) My pins and needles definitely started to improve when my known deficiencies were addressed.  My nutritionist also gave me a broad spectrum supplement which really helped, because I suspect I wasn't just deficient in what I mention above but in many other vitamins and minerals.  But a word of warning, don't take iron unless blood tests reveal you actually need it, and if you are taking it your levels must be regularly monitored because too much can make you ill.  (And if you are currently taking iron, that might actually be making your stomach sore - it did mine, so my GP changed my iron supplementation to a gentler form, ferrous gluconate). Lastly, have you been trying to take anything to lessen the pain in your gut?  I get a sore stomach periodically, usually when I've had too much rich food, or when I have had to take an aspirin or certain antibiotics, or after glutening.  When this happens, I take for just a few days a small daily dose of OTC omeprazole.  I also follow a reflux or gastritis diet. There are lots online but the common denominators to these diets is you need to cut out caffeine, alcohol, rich, spicy, acidic food etc and eat small regularly spaced meals.   When I get a sore stomach, I also find it helpful to drink lots of water.  I also find hot water with a few slices of ginger very soothing to sip, or camomile tea.  A wedge pillow at night is good for reflux. Also,  best not to eat a meal 2-3 hours before going to bed. If the stomach pain is getting worse, though, it would be wise to see the doctor again. I hope some of this helps. Cristiana
