Test To Confirm

my doctor informed me 2 days ago that my blood test and endoscopy result was very suggestive that i have celiac sprue. i asked if there's another way to confirm it and he said those 2 are the only ways.

obviously i've only lived this condition for 2 days (or maybe for many many years of my life without knowing it) so i'm wondering if anyone could share any doctors' opinions and/or results?

any suggestions and advices are welcome and appreciated.

thank you!

Welcome reni!

This is where I would normally say "Welcome to the Club!", but I sense your reservation on becoming a member. :P That's ok though...many of us have walked in your shoes.

In conjunction of the positive Celiac Blood Panel and a confirmation with your endoscopy exam, a positive dietary response can be another piece of the puzzle (Although either one of the two test you have already had, is a diagnosis of Celiac.

Start a simple diet for a few weeks and you may be surprised how elementary it can be to reclaim your life, without drugs or surgery.

If you need assistance, we can walk you though the next few weeks. That's what we're about.

AND, ummm.... Welcome to the Club! :D

PS - Post your test result and they can be interpreted here.

The tests are very rarely false positive. It sounds like your doctor was being vague and you don't know whether the test was positiv eor not. Get a copy of the tests to read for yourself and you can also post them here--many on this board are good at explaining test results. If the tests are positive you pretty much have it. Your next step is to try the gluten free diet.

If you had positive blood tests and biopsy you are in the right place. It can seem daunting at first but you found a great site for information and support. Ask any questions you need to, be strict with the diet and try to go with whole unprocessed foods at first. I hope you are feeling better soon but do be aware it can take a bit of time to heal. It is best if you drop dairy also at first as the area damaged by celiac also helps you to digest dairy. Most can add dairy back in after they have healed.

Congrats! Can you share the recipe? We just picked up a bread maker from an estate sale and are experimenting.
