Has anyone read The Primal Blueprint by Mark Sisson? I'm just starting it today, trying to learn some new ways of eating. Any thoughts on it?

I have not read Primal Blueprint but I did read The Paleo Diet (Cordain) shortly after my dx. I found it to be a very good read, very informative, well researched and thoroughly footnoted (not surprising since the guy is a respected PhD and researcher).

When I initially went gluten-free, found that thinking about food in terms of what I could *not* eat was limiting and even somewhat depressing. Thinking in terms of "eating paleo" has been more expansive since there is so much I *can* eat, which really helped with my motivation, moving towards something rather than away. I feel very good on the paleo diet, lost my middle-age guy spare tire, and I am able to add more weights every week to the Nautilus machines I work out on at the gym, so it seems to be enabling me to get stronger, not surprising since the diet is so nutrient rich compared to the standard American diet I was eating previously....

Paleo is worth checking out, IMO. From what I know about Sisson, he seems credible so it should be a good read. Good luck!

Thanks, I'll check the other out as well! I think there must be a bit overlap between the two in some areas. Should be interesting!

I haven't read the book, but I learned all I needed to know from Sisson's website. Mark's Daily Apple.com.

I went Paleo after a whole year of being gluten free.

As soon as I went Paleo my recovery was fast and my weight stabilized and my muscles improved in tone and response. I was amazed.

In May I went off Paleo because I wanted to splurge on treats...it was my birthday month.

I regret that now.

Because I'm still craving sugar and sweets and fighting to get back to strictly Paleo.

I found that Darned Brazillian Tapioca Cheese Bread Recipe...and I fell in love!

It's absolutely devoid of nutrition!

But ymmy!

Anyway, for my body, Paleo is the really right answer!

I just felt tons better on it.

Not sluggish at all!

I recommend his site for a good read any day. It sure makes you think about what we put in our bodies!

Good luck!

I think it should be called Mark's Daily Steak instead of Mark's daily apple though!

Hope you try it and post back how you do with it!

PS...Don't try the Tapioca cheese bread

It ain't Paleo no matter how hard I tried to convince myself that cassava root is only a vegetable! Haha!!

Hahaha I'll make a mental note of that!! ???

Glad to hear you had great success, I'm excited to learn something new and try it out, hope I respond as well as you!!

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
