What A Sad Day.

GF Lover Rising Star

Last night my Hubs Mother died. At the same time my Hubs brothers wife's Dad died. This morning 26 students and personnel died in Connecticut. Every hour a person dies of Melanoma. Every day innocent people give in to the lords call to come home. I have a candle lit to help show the way to heaven for these innocent people.

I am so saddened with grief and will offer extra prayers tonight.

Colleen

So much sadness and grief heading into the festive season :( . My condolences on your losses, Colleen.

Such a tragic loss for your family. (And so many others right now.) I know too well how hard it is to head into the holidays after a loss but have always tried to remember that those we love loved us back and want us to be happy. It will bring them great joy above if we can find something to smile about and still find a way to enjoy the holidays, even just a little. (((hugs))) There are so many to pray for today, so many hurting, my prayers will be with you and yours as well.

Sorry, sweets. :(

I know you and your family have been going through so much, and it is unusual for a family to lose 2 members on the same day.

My love and ((HUGS)) .

If someone is elderly, it is somehow more "expected" .... but still shocking and sad....(I know, when I lost my beloved Dad, I was numb for months) and when it is children involved... anyone's child....lost somehow through illness or taken in a horrific, senseless act, it seems so much more tragic somehow.

As a teacher, I find this abhorrent ---because honestly, a school is a sanctuary. A neutral place for learning and joy and has nothing to do with violence.

This young man was obviously mentally unstable and chose the wrong path to express his anger at his mother. I pray for his soul.

I have already thrown up once over this today...and I may just go do it again.. :(

Colleen, you always show so much courage, hon.... and I know you will remain strong, my friend.

My sympathy to you and your hubs,

xxoo IH

(((((Hugs))))) Colleen. I'll say a prayer for your family too. The passing of the children and staff at the school is very sad.

Colleen - so much loss in one day.

Please know that you and your family are in my prayers tonight and in the days ahead.

I must add your beautiful card was one very bright spot in a very tearfilled day. Thank you.

I think going back to your GI isn't a bad idea - my visits to the GI did not stop following my diagnosis as I had annoying issues on and off for some time.  Thankfully he is a lovely chap, a great sense of humour and actually great fun to be with, so it wasn't a chore to see him again although I'd rather not have had to, obviously!  But I needed my mind to be put at rest as my symptoms didn't seem to go away overnight as I'd hoped they would.  Initially I recall he recommended I went Dairy Free for three weeks, and he told me it would take that time to see an effect.  At that time, even lactose free milk went straight through me, so it is important, I would say, to even avoid that during a Dairy Free trial. My ongoing symptoms were bloating which did respond a bit to that trial.   However, within about 18 months there was a return to a very sore stomach, plus various aches and pains.   It turned out some gluten was sneaking in with my iron supplement (I was buying Floradix instead of Floravital), but I also think the dishwasher, the oven and eating out were contributers, too. Before my numbers normalised (from memory, about eight years!) I had several follow up appointments and a few more tests, but things gradually did get better.  Having read many accounts on this forum over the years, I don't think it is uncommon for symptoms to get a bit worse before getting better, that was certainly the case with me.  But do try to be as scrupulously gluten free as you can possibly be as a first step, and I'd definitely try a three week Dairy Free trial.   Your villi because they are damaged are not able to create the lactase required to digest dairy at this time so you may well see some improvement if you come off dairy for a while.  Give it three weeks. But of cousre don't hesitate to contact your GI if you are at all concerned.

Thankfully those are normal. B12 was on the low end of the normal range when I first got diagnosed. When I last got it checked, it had come up a lot (455 last time checked).

You can search this site for prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication: To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the medication and maker in the results, then scroll down to "Ingredients and Appearance" and click it, and then look at "Inactive Ingredients," as any gluten ingredients would likely appear there, rather than in the Active Ingredients area. https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/  I didn't notice any gluten ingredients in Kirkland Almond non-dairy beverage, however it does contain Locust Bean Gum. Some gums may cause IBS-type issues in some people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity:

Have you had B12 levels checked?

For the past few months, I've been taking several supplements (a multi-vitamin, an iron supplement, a vitamin C supplement, and a magnesium supplement), all of which state that they are gluten free on the label.
