  1. I have had moldy Ener-G bread that was not expired and still sealed.
  2. Eggs are super bad for me.
  3. Could be but we have no choice. I had to use Nucoa because they need to be dairy free. That still wouldn't explain the sickly sweet taste though.
  4. It gets worse. Even when chilled they were not very firm. I had to roll them repeatedly in the powdered sugar because it just kept melting into them. I then had to really pack the powdered sugar around them, pushing and pressing it in. And then it still melted. And then they looked like Swedish meatballs that got into a fight with flour. And then upon...
  5. My guess is that they are processed on the same lines as products containing wheat and milk. So likely to be cross contaminated. They were one of my daughter's favorite foods. I think they are nasty.
  6. People do that to us all the time. Often they just aren't thinking. Or they don't realize that what they are giving you is something you can't have. We just got home baked cookies. We just put them aside for my husband. If you don't have a friend or family member to pass them on to, then just donate to the food bank...assuming they are not home baked...
  7. We just attempted this recipe and...yuck!!!!! Did not seem to work at all. The stuff would not mix together. So I kept adding water and adding water and then all of a sudden it just sort of melted. I had goo and water on the bottom. I tried adding more oats and then some powdered sugar and now it just tastes to me like sweet. I should add that I...
  8. When I was looking at houses, I had to count the cupboards. There had to be at least 13. So I was happy when I found this one! Until I moved in. Turns out several of those "cupboards" are just doors with two sliding, flat drawers beneath. They are fine for largish pots and pans but don't work well for anything else. The other things fall behind the...
  9. I can see why people wouldn't want to put gluten-free on their labels. Cross contamination is highly likely. And many companies package their food on shared lines or in a facility that uses all sorts of ingredients. In such a case they would not want to use the gluten-free label even if the product is gluten-free in and of itself. Yes, I know some companies...
  10. I guess it would help if we knew what set off your acid reflux. For me, it's chocolate. Dark chocolate in particular.
  11. For Christmas I like to mix them with cherry or grape tomatoes or strips of red pepper and a little onion. They are also good with onion and bacon. Some people like them with ham. I don't like ham. They are super with almonds. But I am allergic. I make a Spud Puppy casserole. Spud Puppies are organic and like Tater Tots but without the soy. ...
  12. I'd be more than willing to bet that even if she did use gluten-free flours, she has cross contaminated them. I would NEVER have regular flour in my kitchen now.
  13. Have your thyroid checked. Why? Smoking can mask the symptoms of a thyroid problem. I developed a problem when I quit. I was also pregnant at the time and that didn't help. But a thyroid problem can make you feel depressed and can mess up your digestion. As for the cat litter, there is one that is wheat based but it says so on the package. I believe...
  14. The brand that Albertsons sells is not safe for us but I can't remember why. Could be that it contains one of our other allergens.
  15. I didn't click on the poll because I myself am not gluten-free. Daughter is. And has been for about 6 years. I just had a problem with the terms "easy" and "hard". On the surface it seems so easy! I remember my friend putting her daughter on a gluten-free diet to see if her situation would change. I don't know exactly what she was looking for to change...
  16. I have never had a Big Mac nor have I been tempted to eat one. Never had Taco Supremes either but suspect I wouldn't like them because they just sound like they would have sour cream and guacamole on them and I don't like those. I have never been much of a fast food fan. But we did get food at Wendy's the other day because I wanted to try their new...
  17. Unlce Ben's makes pouches of cooked rice that are two servings each. Many different flavors. One of daughter's favorite meals is the roasted chicken flavor topped with canned chicken. Another favorite with canned chicken is to put it over bagged salad. She likes the additon of black olives, baby carrots and Costco's sesame dressing. That dressing comes...
  18. I've never had an island but would LOVE one. I would also like a separate little sink for washing produce. Would also love those drawer refrigerators and a big freezer. As it is, we have a side by side that doesn't hold so much. We also have a little frige with freezer that isn't so good. Originally bought it for daughter because she wasn't old enough...
  19. Are you using a Silpat or a nonstick cookie sheet? If so, that could be the problem. I have not tried making gluten-free ones. But many years ago I made countless batches of regular Spritz. The best cookie sheet I had for the job was an expensive double walled one. I think it was called Airbake. It was not non-stick. Another thought would be instead...
  20. Did she say why she can't eat wheat? BTW, Rice Krispies do not contain wheat. Gluten yes. But wheat? No. My mother is not supposed to eat wheat. For her it is not an allergy but it does bother her athritis. She does eat it though and much like the nurse thinks of it only in things like bread. She doesn't even think of it in things like pancakes...
  21. Keep in mind that if you are going to grow truly organic, you'll need to use organic seeds, soil, fertilizer, etc. I didn't do that. I used regular seeds and soil, I did use some Miracle Grow fertilizer, but I didn't use any more chemicals. I have a kitchen garden window. I have tried to grow herbs, lettuce and tomatoes with varying degrees of success...
  22. Thanks! Can't use peanut butter because daughter is allergic. I plan to use Nucoa.
  23. We have a mixed kitchen, although there isn't a lot of gluten in it. I buy bread from time to time and when husband is home, there are other baked goods sometimes. He is currently on a diet so not eating cookies, cakes, etc. I do not bring flour into the house or regular pasta. So no worries about cooking stuff. What I do is use all kinds of paper...
  24. What gets me are the multitude of people who tell me things like... One cookie won't kill you! Or... You can eat anything you want in moderation! Now it's true gluten is not an issue for me. I do have other food allergies. But food allergies aside... I'm talking diabetes here. My diabetes is out of control for the most part. I am on two diabetes...
  25. Someone on another food allergy site said the new boxes do contain soy flour. If your boxes do not, then maybe they are old. If this is true, this is not good. We do not eat soy flour. But occasional soy lecithin is okay.
