  1. I ate a bite of something that said gluten free and didn't really like it, so that was all I had. Not a healthy bite either, like a nibble. Read the label next time I was in the store and it had oats in it. No ill effects I can tell- but it was so tiny that I might still react to a real dose, so I have not as yet been willing to really try it. I's too skeered...
  2. Fried apples w/ pine nuts!
  3. I'm not the only one who does this?!?!?! YAY!!! Just need words in a row, whatever lands in front of my face, it's gettin read. Do you like the Stephen R. Lawhead Arthur books?
  4. Love2- What's the difference between calabrese salad and caprese salad? I's confused!!
  5. One time I got glutened by sour cream that had corn starch in it that was contaminated. It took some doing to figure THAT one out!
  6. ^ What he said.
  7. If it helps, my DH rash doesn't look like anyone else's either. I never got blisters or big round bumps. Mostly just tiny bumps, red rash, crazy itching, no burning. More like the first day of a poison ivy rash. Maybe a bit like heat rash, or the rash people get from cats. Not hives though.
  8. Yes, this is perfectly normal. Basically, anything that changes when you go gluten free is perfectly normal. If you were covered in big green dots and started walking on all fours, someone here would probably be able to tell you they'd seen it before. In your case, it's probably a decrease in appetite because your body is starting to absorb nutrients properly...
  9. Udi's bagel w cream cheese.
  10. I Irish too! She also occasionally needs a break, though, right guys? I'm sure her hubby is appreciating the time she's spending off the forum  !
  11. We found a Lock&Lock container that's designed to hold eggs. It's shaped like an egg carton and locks down like Lock&locks do. Maybe tht would keep the smell in?
  12. He just writes the best bad guys, doesn't he? My fave Odd was the second one, made me cry like a baby.... But I loved all of them, can't WAIT for the next one! Campout at Barnes&Noble, who's with me?
  13. Stick with it- he makes it totally worth it in the end, with how he resolves the subject of 'what they shouldn't have seen' and with the evolution of the characters themselves. I just lurves Dean. Have you read Odd Thomas? Or Watchers? Happy Birfday!
  14. Stubborn overachiever.
  15. I use Burt's Bee's lip balm and lip colors. Also, lip colors from Everyday Minerals. Only place I'll buy face makeup from, cuz they're CHEAP!
  16. I know, right? HAHAHAH!!!!!
  17. Dude! It works on allergy-related rashes! Not DH! Dude!
  18. The super-taster thing isn't snobbery, I'm reading a book by Herve This, who's a German food scientist, and they've demonstrated how a not-so-small percentage of the population actually just has more taste buds. It's a really interesting book, talks about how temperature affects the taste of food, and how tenderness and juiciness are perceived by the human...
  19. Really? Perhaps it's not a widely used treatment because of the side effects of long term steroid usage, hence noone talking about using it, as most docs don't treat that way? Good to know! On the rare occasion I get glutened my rash is nowhere near severe enough for me to consider using steroids to treat, but other people may want to consider it. (The poison...
  20. Yeah, when I used to use BRM mixes for sweets I'd serve them to other people who adored them, and I'd be thinking (what's wrong with these people....) I wonder if it has anything to do with the whole super-taster theory?
  21. It may be that removing the gluten from your diet has allowed your immune system to focus on overreacting to something else, which is why the steroid shot helped. Steroids would not help with DH rash, but with a histamine-based reaction like hives they do. Since you've removed the gluten, now your immune system has more resources to concentrate on your hive...
  22. Always tasted like blood to me. Blechh... Glad the brownie mix doesn't have bean flour!
  23. We finally bought barstools! Yay, I have somewhere to sit in my kitchen!!!!
