  1. I'm sorry your having such a hard time right now. One suggestion I would make is to stop the herbal treatments for a couple of weeks and see if you improve. If you are doing more than one preperation then if you are feeling better but still feel you need the herbs add them back one at a time and make sure that you are not having problems with some of the...
  2. It would be a good idea to have a celiac panel done even if you had one a while ago and it was negative as things can change. Doctors do not always do a biopsy looking for celiac when we have an endo. They need to be looking for it to find it as often the celiac changes can not be seen with just the scope. After all celiac related testing is finished then...
  3. I cook many things in the oven this way. I call it my lazy day method cause you toss stuff in the foil and then ignore it till it's done. And no pans to wash.
  4. Welcome to the board. I had one of those babies also. Asleep for 2 hours, up for 2 hours around the clock. Thought I'd never sleep again. If your breastfeeding the little one who knows maybe your being gluten free will help the little one sleep better. Ask any questions you need to and feel free to vent if needed.
  5. Actually there are lots of risks to a salt water flush and no you shouldn't try it but then again you shouldn't have deliberately made yourself sick either: Open Original Shared Link Specific Salt Water Flush Dangers: altars critical pH and mineral levels in the body kills all beneficial intestinal bacteria can overwork the kidneys as they...
  6. Sublingual B12 was very helpful for my neuropathies even before my celiac diagnosis. If the vitamins you were taking helped then personally I would start taking them again.
  7. Welcome to the board. First off feel free to 'whine' all you need to. Yes there are some of us whose disease got very far advanced before we got a diagnosis but that doesn't make what you are going through any less distressing. Do feel free to vent or ask any questions you need to ask. If you were back on gluten for less than 2 to 3 months then that may...
  8. Until my local Wegmans started getting a lot of gluten free stuff I ordered from the Gluten Free Mall. The only thing I didn't like about ordering on line was having to wait for my 'goodies' to be delivered. But the happiness when the box arrived ourweighed that disadvantage.
  9. I get the Pocono Cream of Buckwheat. I really like it when I want something warm and soothing, especially if I have been glutened.
  10. You, according to your sig, stilled showed some antibodies after a couple of weeks gluten free. That really was a significant finding. It isn't unusual for us to have liver and gallbladder impact and things can improve for both after we have been on the diet. If you are losing gallbladder function on gluten there is a chance you may recover normal function...
  11. I would give all I have to be able to go back in time and have had one person, one doctor, one book or website or anything tell me to try the diet even if my tests were negative. I was a textbook celiac in all respects except one, I showed a false negative on the blood tests for celiac that the doctors kept doing over and over and over as I slowly died in...
  12. Your reaction actually started fairly quickly. It was the D part of the reaction that was delayed and that is not uncommon. While some will get an upset tummy within a short time for others the digestive upset can take up to a week. It can make it hard to figure out what glutened us until we know our own pattern.
  13. Well since you are traveling you may want to pick up some Depends for the trip home. Better to be prepared than to ruin your clothes. Hopefully you won't be like I was when I had to do my 2nd challenge after being gluten-free for 2 weeks. I ended up not only with violent D but ended up bleeding from my intestines for 3 days in addition to a flare up of all...
  14. If your doctor did a celiac panel and said you might be celiac you were likely a low positive. Perhaps, as long as you are still eating gluten, you should have those tests rerun. After all celiac related testing is done then do give the diet a good strict try.
  15. Personally I would not put him through over two months of poisoning to have the doctor tell you what you already know. Plus if he has been gluten-free for a month already he could become seriously ill during the challenge. I would ask your ped why he thinks this is needed when you already have one diagnosed child and your son's blood work is positive.
  16. Hopefully the specialist will be able to help with this. Keep us posted.
  17. Welcome Colleen. Hopefully you will continue to improve but gluten can be sneaky so we do often have some ups and downs at first. If you go with whole foods you will heal the fastest and do make sure you are doing what you need to do to keep yourself safe from cross contamination like a new dedicated toaster, replacing strainers, not sharing condiments and...
  18. If your symptoms are worse and you are having bleeding then yes you should get back to the doctor. It would be a good idea to have the blood tests rerun and perhaps do both a colonoscopy and the endo to make sure you haven't got other things going on. As the other poster said if you can get a close family member to go with you so the doctor can explain how...
  19. First the bad news, if you are going to get tested you need to go back to a full gluten diet for at least a couple of months before you get tested. If you are gluten free or gluten light your test will be negative because the test is looking for the antibodies and if you are gluten free those antibodies won't be there. If you have had issues for a while have...
  20. That's always so disappointing. Sounds like it would have made a good hockey puck for the breadsticks I made last week. You could have driven nails with them. When I cooked for a living I learned to put all ingredients in a line on the counter to my left. As I used them I lined them up on the right. That kept me from either forgetting something or adding...
  21. Welcome to the board. Please be aware that you can not be tested for celiac if you are already gluten free. If you are now low or no gluten you need to get back on gluten for a while before you test.
  22. I don't know if there could be a connection. Celiac does seem to mess with female's hormones and can send us into a premature menapause and cause inferitility. Could it impact males hormones? Perhaps, as both females and males have estrogen and testosterone just in different levels. Maybe some of our more scientific folks will know. You do sound like your...
  23. I don't know if cigs can slow down the healing, they didn't for me but I switched to an additive free tobacco when I was diagnosed as I know some cigs have gluten derived ingredients. One big plus to the switch was I went from smoking a pack a day to now smoking about 5 to 6 a day with no effort. I think I was addicted more to the additives than to the nicotine...
