  1. She uses American Health Super Papaya Enzyme Plus. I get them at Whole Foods. They are a whole bunch of things -free including gluten, milk, soy, yeast . . . Kelsmom, consider the enzymes as well. The villi provide more enzymes than just the one that breaks down lactose, although that's the one that everyone talks about. Keep in mind that although...
  2. I did this too . . . chasing a lot of dead ends. In the end, I just needed to give her time. It actually took ten months before she was completely symptom free. In the meantime, everytime she had an issue, I was chasing down or eliminating something that turned out to be nothing. It's not necessarily the food that is the issue but the fact that she...
  3. I am curious as to how the nutritionist diagnosed you with allergies and parasites and bacteria? What was the nutritionist recommending you do for the parasites? This is not who I would see for this type of diagnosis. That being said, I would say that depending on what your cause was for developing these intolerances (I'm using the term intolerances...
  4. You Go Girl!!! <applauding_emoticon_here>
  5. Croquet? . . . my former neighbors were BIG-TIME serious croquet players when they all got together as a family . . . about five 30ish brothers. You might have thought basketball or something but no, it was croquet and they were ALL business. You don't have to be all business . . . you're allowed to do it just for fun Now MY family always...
  6. Some of the comments (on #5 and after): "Strange taste (not in a good way)." "Falls apart in my mouth instantly ... like sawdust!" "Weird taste and consistency. Not worth swallowing." "Tastes like there's a bad piece of fish in my mouth." "Ack! I had to spit this one out." My personal favorite: "Like the Sahara in my...
  7. Did you guys read the comments? They obviously had ten different breads and the "judges" simply ranked the ones that they were trying. By about number 5 or 6, the comments were none too flattering.
  8. Check out this link. I don't know how up to date they keep the restaraunt section, but it's a starting place. It's got both national chains and local places listed. Open Original Shared Link
  9. I have learned at PF Changs . . . if it's not on the menu, just ask. They've changed their menu recently (at least locally) and something was removed. I asked the waiter about it and he said they would still make it. Just because lunch prices aren't on there, it doesn't hurt to ask if they would do it.
  10. Will this help? I called the doctor's office this afternoon to find out if the insurance company will cover an upcoming MRI that my doc wants. The answer was "Yes", followed by "You know, that MRI was this morning, right?" Well, I do now. I even had it on my calendar . . . which doesn't help if you don't actually check the calendar. Btw ...
  11. Adding additional arguments for a good digestive enzyme: I just want to point out that the villi produce more than just lactase although that's the one that gets all the publicity. My daughter's biopsy was officially "normal" as far as visual damage was concerned. However, she was found to have a generalized disaccharidases deficiency. They tested ...
  12. Yes it is a big deal. It's a lifetime committment. Some people will see the light once they see what it takes to be gluten free. Most people don't understand until they see it/live it how many things gluten is in and what it takes to protect yourself from cross contamination. Some people won't get it and you'll have to learn to let their comments...
  13. Digestive enzymes seem to help my daughter more than anything else. She uses American Health Chewable Super Papaya Enzyme Plus. For gas I like Simethicone (I'm using a store brand). I'm not a Celiac but every so often, I'll have a gas issue where it feels like it's in my gut expanding but not moving on and the simethicone helps.
  14. Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps 2 garlic cloves minced (I use the minced stuff in the jar (but not dehydrated)) 1 pound ground chicken (buy ground or you can make yourself using boneless skinless chicken breast coarsely chopped then food processed) 1 Tbsp dark sesame oil 3 Tbsp teriyaki sauce (La Choy) 2 Tbsp peanut butter
  15. If you can take a crock pot, I've got a great option for you. It's a knock off of the PF Changs lettuce wraps. Let me know and I'll post the recipe.
  16. Yes! Yes! Yes! . . . Cheaper (99 cents/lb) and finer ground. We prefer it to BRM. I buy Flying Horse brand. We haven't had any issues with it
  17. Here's a link to a list of companies that disclose gluten ingredients: Open Original Shared Link
  18. Dang!!! Am I a slow typer or what???!!! There weren't any responses when I first started my reply.
  19. If the modified food starch was made from wheat, it would still have to list wheat (usually in parenthesis after the mfs). Ragu is a Unilever product. Unilever, ConAgra and Kraft (along with some others but those are the big three) will list wheat, rye, or barley on it's label and not hide it under a vague term such as "natural flavors". It's good to...
  20. We use the same pots/pans/utensils/storage containers/etc. I have a gluten cutting board and a gluten free cutting board. We only have gluten free pasta now so only one colandar but I would have a separate one of those. I put aluminum foil on my baking sheet when I'm making my son a corn dog or gluten chicken nuggets . . . even though I can wash that off...
  21. Emily made me go look at that dang photo again against my will . . . just to see what these white patches were of which she spoke. I think they are adhesive pockets . . . where else would they keep their car keys? No! No! No! I don't want to hear any speculation on that!!!! LaLaLaLaLa <fingers-in-my-ears> I can't hear you.
  22. No worries, Sora. We can take care of that.
  23. At my age . . . after a couple of kids . . . not really "jigglin". More like . . . ??? . . . swayin'???
  24. Just sittin' here by meself . . . gigglin'
  25. Holy Cr@p!!! I just blew my own mind!!! Em!!! You are not going to believe this, but I had not clicked on your link until AFTER I had posted about ghtomnass.
