  1. Give it time. It took a over a month for me to get much better after stopping soy. It is not a light switch reaction.
  2. I had pain in my left side below my rib cage for years. And all over pain in my abdomen. And that stuff hurts! Anyhow, whine on, whine off. There are some people who have celiac but refuse to test positive on the official doctors tests. We call them RavenwoodGlass. So you have to decide at some point if you are going to believe a doctor and a test...
  3. Oh boy, are you guys in for some fun! Well, actually, everyone is different, or rather an individual, and our bodies do their own thing regardless of what I or anyone else says. But for me, a bit over 3 years in, I am in pretty good shape. I have a lot more energy than before, and I can think and remember things better. I had to weed out a lot of...
  4. I had very bad reactions to coffee and had to stop it. But after I quit soy, my entire system got much better. So I think if I had quit soy first maybe I could have kept on with the coffee. I think soy was the real problem. But I am not willing to test that theory out now. Not my idea of fun, no sir.
  5. Very cool. Beam me up Wil's Mom!
  6. Also check all your meds and vitamins for gluten. It is easier to go with a whole foods diet to start out. You can avoid lots of time reading labels and scratching our head if you stick with whole foods.
  7. I cough some lately too. Been on the gluten-free diet for a little over 3 years. I really just think life is inappropriate right now. little Cough cough, Kidding! Anyhow, I was drinking a lot of peppermint tea over the winter. I had developed (sounds impressive eh?) an ongoing sinus infection since last December. So, it's warm now (kinda) so I stopped...
  8. Some people want to participate in clinical trials for celiac treatments. Usually they want only biopsy diagnosed celiacs for the trials. Do if you want your kid to be a guenia (sp) pig then get her endoscoped. Otherwise there is not much advantage to it that I can see. Assuming that the relates are smart enough to get tested also. The only treatment...

    ARCHIVED I Am Stupid

You are learning how to do things better. You are learning how your body reacts now vs a few years ago. Learning involves trial and error. Gettin' smarter is a process of time and errors. You is started down that path, keep going and you will get there!
  10. Oh my gosh, these kids these days! Tiddle taddle, piffle paffle, what are they all about? Never seen BVS? Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Sarah Michelle Geller? Good heavens! Open Original Shared Link And after you watch several seasons of Buffy, you can checkout Angel, her sweetheart: David Boranez (sp) Open Original Shared Link But before...
  11. Shoot, tell them you have an important horse race to go at the track and lots of money riding on it. Then tell them you lost it all at the races and need them to send you money to buy GFCFSF food. Or you'll come and move in with them and your husband too. But you are too sick to baby sit but can watch their TV all day. OK, maybe that's a stretch. But...
  12. They will probably do both a colonoscopy and an endoscopy then. You should ask them to confirm. If the endoscopy is to test for celiac they need to take biopsy samples to examine under a microscope. Usually people here want more than one biopsy sample taken for testing.
  13. Have you considered nightshades and soy as possible problems? Many, or I should say most, gluten-free processed foods have both or one. So you could be reacting to nightshades or soy or both.
  14. Really well done video! I just have one little nit-pick. In the narration at about 6 minutes and 20 seconds is is stated that "when gluten is eaten the bowel will get infected". It is in the section where the body outline is shown. We don't get infected by gluten though, as it is not a living organism. Gluten does trigger an immune system reaction that...

    ARCHIVED Burritos!

You might have to ask at the store where they keep them. In one of my local stores they are kept on the bottom shelf of rack near the wine and meat cooler. not refrigerated though. Why, I don't know. Everywhere else I've been the tortillas are frozen or in a cooler. But these are just on a shelf in the middle of an isle with lots of other non-gluten...
  16. Hey Zack, One more thing you could try is Old el Paso corn tacos shells. They are available in many stores at a reasonable price. You can try the rinsing with water than zapping trick with them also if you want them softer. Open Original Shared Link
  17. The rice wraps will crack too, but you can fix that by running water over them before microwaving for 30 seconds. The water treatment will help the corn tortillas also, as will heating them in a pan. Here is a link the microwave bread recipe I mentioned: Easy, Yummy Bread In Minutes An experiment gone right! You c also make gluten free pancakes...
  18. That's very common to become more sensitive to gluten after going gluten-free. It doesn't mean anything else is wrong, it does mean you need to be more careful to avoid cross-contamination
  19. I don't eat much bread myself. Maybe every few months or so I will get a loaf of gluten-free bread. But otherwise I don't eat it. I do get Trader Joe's brown rice tortillas sometimes to make wraps. There are also Food For Life brown rice tortillas at Whole Foods but I prefer Trader Joe's. There is a recipe for microwave buns in the recipe section posted...
  20. You might find this article interesting. It's about gluten mimicking opiates in the brain and gluten withdrawal. If you search for "gluten opiate" you will find lots of info on it. This articles doesn't mean you are a druggie, just that your brain can have a craving for gluten. The first step is admitting you have a problem? Open Original...
  21. I vote for celiac disease over celibate disease too! Welcome to the board. French's mustard is gluten free too, but do check labels. It is good to do a google search for the food name and gluten and you will usually find your answer. Manufacturers web sites usually have the nutrition info for their products available also. And many have an FAQ with...
  22. Hey Zack, You asked about cheese. My big think on it is the way to find out is to do it. In other words if you want to know if it is bothering "you" vs. other people who may have different bodies after all, then you need to try living without it for a while. There is no food intolerance testing that I know of, except to eliminate the food from your...
  23. How do you do with meats? Most plain meats you can buy in a grocery store are gluten free. Hamburger, chicken etc as long as it doesn't have those marinades and such on it already should be fine. French's mustard, salt, pepper, turmeric, and garlic, are good spices to use. Frozen green beans and veggies are generally ok, but check the labels. You can...
  24. Just get one nice stainless steel pan with a lid, and you can do most anything in it. Non-stick pans are not good for you anyway, the coating flakes off and gets in your food and is not healthy. Or go to a thrift store or hardware store and get a nice cast iron pan. Just clean it real well and dedicate it to gluten-free forever. A simple diet is easier...
  25. Congratz on the vid posting success Carin! And the Mustangs rambling and roving robot. They really had 'em moving. I had to "like" your video post on Ye Old Tube.
