ARCHIVED Trouble Staying gluten-free
lizard00 replied to Salazarai's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
First off, I have to say that I agree with Scotty. Because this is your problem, it's his problem, too. Is he unaware of the host of medical problems that you already are ecountering, not to mention what awaits you in the future? Does he really want to care for small children while you are down with a migraine or unable to get up because of your arthiritis... -
I just did a google search and this came up on MedicineNet. Doesn't really talk about Tylenol so much, but the hypothesized (sp?) cause of motion sickness. An interesting read, anyway. Open Original Shared Link Ginger, along with being an anti-inflammatory is also a digestive aid, so it helps to calm nausea, vomiting, etc. Not sure about the Tylenol...

I did get nauseous. But I also got a headache, would sometimes get dizzy- sometimes the heat made it worse and I felt almost like I was going to pass out. The nausea went away when I got out of the car, but there remained a general icky feeling. I didn't necessarily feel like I was going to be physically ill, but I also didn't want to eat anything either...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Salad Dressings
lizard00 replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My favorite is Naturally Fresh Ranch. I contacted the company and their ranch is currently gluten-free, but not all. So, I would recommend going to their website and sending them an email and they'll send you a list of which ones are good and which ones to avoid. -
I am so jealous of anyone that has a pizza place nearby that can get gluten-free pizza. Don't get me wrong, Amy's pesto w/soy cheese isn't bad, BUUTTT... it gets old really quickly. Sounds like a great place to be!

I most definitely get sicker in the back seat. I have noticed it getting better since going gluten-free, but I think that's because my stomach is no longer in distress all the time. I rode roller coasters a lot when I was a teenager, but the last time I went on one I got nauseated. Bummer And forget anything that spins... the teacups make me cringe...

ARCHIVED What's Next?
lizard00 replied to FlyGirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome to the Forum!!!! You will find that a lot of us are self diagnosed for one reason or another. I had inconclusive blood tests, but a positive response to the diet. So, I am gluten-free and consider myself a Celiac. And, as is discussed often, until the current criteria is changed, many of us will never have an official diagnosis. You said you... -
ARCHIVED Good Books To Read About Celiac?
lizard00 replied to stolly's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have the book "Gluten free for Dummies" by Danna Korn. It is written for anyone who wants to learn about the gluten-free lifestyle, and explains things very simply. It would be very helpful for you and your mom. -
I've gotten car sickness for as long as I remember. For a long time I couldn't sit in the backseat without getting nauseated, but it's gotten a tad better. (And I do mean a tad!) It also depends on the driver and type of vehicle... but then it gets complicated and who wants to deal with that!! It's just easier to say get in my car, I'll drive. HAK...

Did you try an online translation service? I know google has one that's free. It's not 100% accurate, but it's pretty close and you can probably tweak it a little once you get there.

ARCHIVED Sublingual B12
lizard00 replied to lizard00's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've been taking two a day. Maybe I'll try three, but I'm not sure the amt in each lozenge. I'll have to check it out, I know it's mcg. I felt really good Tuesday, had lots of energy. But the weather is CRAZY here right now, and I've had a headache for about two days now. Although today I can at least hold my head up. So, I'm not sure if I feel better yet... -

ARCHIVED Biopsy Results Within Normal Limits?
lizard00 replied to Perthgirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome to the Forum!! You will find lots of support here!! Sorry to hear about all of your struggles! The tests for Celiac are pretty notorious for being negative. And even with an endoscopy, a biopsy can miss the part of your intestine that has been affected. There's 22 ft (if memory serves me correctly) of small intestine, so that's a possiblity.... -
Could it be something in the curry? Reactions can most definitely be delayed. I have a mild egg white allergy, which takes a few hours for me to have a reaction. Took me a while to figure that one out, especially if I wasn't eating eggs but egg whites were a main ingredient in something I didn't realize. And when I get glutened, I might not necessarily...

ARCHIVED Blood Work Negative: Bioposy Questionable: Gene Positive, Am I Nuts?
lizard00 replied to AllieB's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think my problems began after my son was born. Pregnancy can definitely be a trigger. I had headaches daily and my fatigue became increasingly worse over a period of about a year and a half. I took myself off gluten after I did an elimination diet, so by the time I was tested, it was too late. It sounds to me that if you have some intestinal inflammation... -
ARCHIVED Can Someone Explain Leaky Gut To Me?

Check out this website: Open Original Shared Link That is the best way that I have seen it explained and the symptoms that it involves. Hope that helps! -
ARCHIVED Please Help! Am I Confused, Or Have I Been Misdiagnosed On Some Level?
lizard00 replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have to completely agree with the previous poster. I was tested after close to a month of being gluten-free, and my results were negative for celiac. But... I know that I gluten is toxic for me. So, whatever they want to call it; intolerance or celiac (which may be one in the same), I have it. I react to it. And trust me, I've purposely glutened myself... -
Hey, it's amazing the things you have a new found appreciation for!!! It took me a few times purposely glutening myself before I was finally convinced that I was really gluten intolerant, and not just crazy pants! I kept thinking, what if I am just wanted this to be the answer so I convinced myself it was the answer... that was when I really wanted...

Thanks RiceGuy! I'll pass it along. He started taking Red Rice Yeast with co-Q10 yesterday. We're hoping that will drop it down pretty quickly, and he's doing a hand full of almonds. Last night, I ground up some flax seed to try to add fiber to our foods. He really is pretty cautious about what he puts into his body, which is why he is so upset about...

If you think it's an additional intolerance or an allergy, I would first recommend keeping a food journal in detail. What you ate, when you ate, and any kind of reaction or strange feeling. Sometimes the reactions can be the next day rather than immediate, so being able to look back over the course of a week or so will be able to give your a broader perspective...

ARCHIVED Sublingual B12
lizard00 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
For those of you who started taking a sublingual B12, how much do you take and how often? So far, I've taken one a day since Sat. I haven't really noticed a big difference, although I didn't expect much in 3 days. But, I was just wondering if that is a good amount or if I should take go more/less? -
ARCHIVED Whole Foods Baking Mix 365 Great Product!
lizard00 replied to zachsmom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks, that is so great to know. I don't bake a lot, but it's good to know. That makes a lot of sense though. The gluten-free baker for Whole Foods is Celiac... small bit of info... He found out he had Celiac and once or twice a week, he would sanitize everything and bake gluten-free goods. His baked goods became so popular that they eventually dedicated... -
