  1. Thanks for the post. There is a Red Robin not too far from me and it's great to have another choice. I've been pretty surpised by the awareness of people where I live. A few days ago, we went to a local place, I ordered eggplant parmesan w/no bread. The cook even asked ot make sure there were no breadcrumbs either. It was great, and I felt great after I ate...
  2. I have mild scoliosis as well. I also had a reverse curve in my neck- talk about a bummer of that day. I went to the chiropracter for my headaches, she took xrays, and when I went back she broke the news. The good news is that she has helped TREMENDOUSLY for the constant dull ache in my back, along with some magnesium supplements I've been taking b/c mag...
  3. Celiac is definitely work looking into. I also wanted to say that my mom had her gallbladder removed a few years ago with no stones. So, if you feel that your gallbladder needs further investigation, it will probably be up to you to spearhead that project. She was experiencing terrible pain, and when the test came back negative for no stones, the docs said...
  4. I'm such a conspiracy theorist... What if the agricultural lobbiests are influential in Celiac Research not being done because of the economical impact? I mean, there are dairy lobbiests... milk is NOT the best source for calcium or vit d as the FDA would have us believe. Do you every hear of vegetable lobbiests? Vitamin D is added... makes me wonder who...
  5. I have no idea. Have you tried their website, emailing or calling them? I have found the email responses I have received to be very helpful.
  6. The dairy thing is difficult to answer. Some people find that they need to go off dairy for a bit while they are healing. I have seen many recommendations from this site. There are also just as many who say give it a try and see how it makes you feel. If you find you can tolerate dairy products with no problem, I say go for it. If you do find that dairy...
  7. That IS really interesting. At my previous job, we had a fingerprint imaging based time clock. Since I was a manager, I very rarely had to use it, unless I was putting new employees in. But when I first went to create an image for me, it was very hard to get a consistent print that would take. When it finally saved my image, I would often have difficulty...
  8. I am pretty new to this, too. But I have not read anything to do with fingerprints. Can you explain this further, I am very intrigued. Thanks, Liz
  9. THe headaches, mouth sores and chronic fatigue are definitely symptoms/signs of Celiac. Sounds like you found a keeper for your doc!! I hope your test is soon and gives you some answers. Remeber though, they are not always conclusive, so regardless of the result, you should go gluten-free for a few weeks to see if you feel any relief. But make sure you stay...
  10. Hello I really only know your story from this one thread, but as the mother of a 2 1/2 yr old, I want to send you my support and thoughts! I can only imagine what that must be like for you and especially him. I hope that gives you the answer you are looking for so you can move on and focus on helping him get better!!! I'll keep you in my thoughts! Liz
  11. I COMPLETELY understand. For me, it was when I came home from work at 2:30 and had to put him in his crib because I couldn't keep my eyes open and the thought of having to keep up with him made me sick... That is NOT normal, but some people you just cannot convince!
  12. I really appreciate you taking the time to tell me your experience. I know everyone is different, and what might affect one may no affect another. But that's why I posted here, for some ideas and to see what other people have experienced. So, this has definitely helped. Right now I am waiting for the results from my CT scan and then I will probably decide...
  13. So possibly one could lead to another? It's definitely something to consider. For me, my life seems to have gone south after my pregnancy. I could eat pretty much anything and I felt good most of the time. He is almost 3 now, and it seems that over the past year or so was when the headaches started and I started noticing that I was feeling run down and...
  14. I too, have never been called a hypochondriac. BUT, my GI did tell me that when I did the "Atkins" diet I messed up the motility of my intestines... My family is just so happy that I'm me and feeling good again, they make sure I stay away from gluten.
  15. My question is this: An allergy is different from an intolerance. Some research suggests that if you are not severely allergic to something, you should rotate it every 4 or 5 days. An intolerance, however, you should stay away from. For a while I thought I was allergic to wheat or gluten, now I am truly wondering if I was in the beginnings of celiac, because...
  16. YOU CAN DO IT!!! I thought it would be way too hard to cut out cheese too. Milk I could care less about. But it's way easier than you think, especially if you feel better!! Best wishes!
  17. I have never heard of Christina Cooks. Is that the name of the book? or is it a series? I would be interested in checking into that. I am ALWAYS looking for new ways to cook foods; especially greens. The only way I have ever known them to be cooked was one way: to death with a honking piece of fat back. YUCK! So, now I'm trying to eat them, but not quite...
  18. Thanks for your reply. Sorry to hear no one answered... sometimes we may just not know. I've not had that experience here, I've found everyone to be most helpful. I'm trying to eat mostly meats, fruits and veggies. Rice has been the one thing that doesn't bother me. But it's not one of my favorite foods, so I'm pretty good at moderation. I've also started...
  19. This is for all of you who have egg, dairy, and or wheat/gluten allergies: I know for sure that I have an egg white allergy and now am wondering if I have a casein allergy? I noticed that I can tolerate VERY small amts of dairy, but a small cup of yogurt will make my stomach feel the same way as when I eat eggs... Could I have developed another allergy...
  20. Hello all! I am pretty new to this forum and anything that says weight loss, I am always interested in reading. Mostly for ideas and and the like. Soooo, I have been perusing a bit... I just wanted to thank whoever posted that recipe for the stir fried kale!!!!!! (I'm sorry, I forgot the name... ) HOW GREAT IS THAT STUFF?????? I do have to say...
  21. Hello I personally have not done the core plan, but my mom did and lost 25 lbs and she kept it off. She is not gluten-free, but I know she had to count breads and dairy products if she ate them. As I understood her, as long as it's a whole food, you don't have to count points- with the exception of nuts. Which appealed to her since she is not into counting...
  22. Yeah, the trick is to find what works for you. Working out is as much mental as it is physical, when you know you are doing something great for yourself, it makes eating better a little easier. (For me anyway!) There are a million diets out there, and some are really bad. Balance is a good thing. You sound very well informed, so stick with what works...
  23. Where do your kids go to school? When I first moved here from Suffolk, I though this place was HUGE!! But my husband and I have been here 4 years now and doesn't seem so big anymore. It's big enough for me... of course everything is very compartmentalized, so you really never have to go more than 5 miles from your home if you don't want to. I have two...
  24. Gotta love this forum!!!! Thanks a bunch!
  25. I'm another Raleigh-ite Momma Goose, we had some friends that used to live in Edenton. It's beautiful there. I grew up in southeastern VA, Suffolk. It's about a hour to Edenton (if I remember) and about an hour and a half to the OBX. I miss being so close to the ocean... Liz
