  1. Jim was a good guy, too bright, a bit too sensitive... knew his smoking was killing him, but the last thing he did was smoke a cigarette
  2. We got in and had a fab meal - what a luxury to have the table for the evening, wander in the herb garden, peek in the back door of the kitchen. But it would be even more of a luxury to eat a CHEZ LOVE2TRAVEL meal (in Croatia )
  3. I am very happy at the return of your mojo Long may it remain!
  4. A racing sailboat, the name Nizam she bore With owner/skipper 'Hargie' and a crew of four. The boat was fast, the crew were 'ept' And other boats in her wake she left. Forty knots of wind, no big deal, Up on the rail, guys, she's got too much heel. So those were the sailing days of yore And one of the crew was my ex-brother-in-law. But her glory...
  5. Every chance, I would say Others' 'gluten free' cooking can be one of our biggest hazards. Just think of all the lengths you went to to degluten your kitchen, and then think of that loaf being made in a regular kitchen and all the opportunities for gluten to hop in along the way. Off utensils, boards, pans, contaminated ingredients... It is wonderful...
  6. Takala, that sounds a lot like my taper schedule for when I had to take Valium to get any sleep while I was on Prednisone (for poison oak - my cat used to roll in it like catnip) I used to take 5mg Valium for sleep while I was being constantly glutened without knowing any better, but when on Prednisone that didn't come anywhere near hacking it for...
  7. Rice Dream milk has traditionally been filtered through barley and although there are claims that the barley does not contaminate the milk many celiacs do not tolerate Rice Dream. We have had many discussions on here about it in the past. There are plenty of other rice milks. Ditch the Rice Dream or switch to almond or hemp milks. Just last month...
  8. I wouldn't think so. That's why they run all the tests in the first instance. Really, the only difference between the two up to this point has been the biopsy showing damage to the small intestine which has always been used as the hallmark of celiac disease.. This may or may not change as further research is done into non-celiac gluten intolerance. Of...
  9. The purpose of a food diary is to see if there is any pattern to your symptoms. So you not only record what you eat and when you ate it, but what your symptoms are at various times of the day. Then you can see if two days after eating corn, e.g., you always have X. Or the evening of a day you eat soy you have Y. You are looking for a pattern of responses...
  10. Loey!!! You keep finding new ways to alarm and shock us. Glad Rob was heads up and saved you But I already did that one -- you should really find something unique and not copy me!! That said, breathing and feeding tubes are no fun
  11. Many of our posters have had fertility problems resolve and carried to term after healing from gluten. I personally would hold off on trying to conceive until you have replenished the nutrient levels in your body due to malabsorption, which may well have caused your previous miscarriages. Have you had your pcp check all your vitamin and mineral levels?
  12. I eat lots of brassicas, sweet potato, swiss chard, carrots, in fact all root veggies except for beets, all meats, lettuces and herbs, onions, garlic, asparagus, artichokes, avocadoes, all fruits except lemon and lime, all nuts except peanuts, rice, alternative grains except for quinoa, millet and amaranth. The doctor probably ordered the IgG tests to...
  13. The Immunoglobin A is the total IgA. Are the test results you posted similar to your previous results?
  14. They are just called A1 and A2. A2 is the good guy
  15. Welcome to the forum, BMeist. You have told us your villi are fully healed, which means you are doing a good job on the gluten. That should also mean you are able to tolerate lactose without any problems. But as shadowicewolf says, you could have additional food intolerance(s). Many of us find when we get rid of gluten that other foods jump into the...
  16. Soy is a very individual thing. Some people (many celiacs) do not tolerate it at all. Others have no problem whatever with it. You will just have to test (either experiment with or or if you are one of those that likes the 'evidence' get some IgE testing for it) If you do not react to it and enjoy it then there is no reason not to eat it; obviously many...
  17. The scalloping is a fairly typical finding on biopsy. The degree often depends on how long you have been undiagnosed. As Lisa says, it's way too early to be talking about refractory sprue. Healing is not something that happens instanteously as soon as gluten is withdrawn. It has taken you a long while to get where you are and it may take you as long...
  18. Whoa, don't come visit down here - we live on that. (You do have to degrease / defat, though )
  19. I agree with Chaser 100%. While irritable bowel syndrome, stress, somatization, fibromyalgia, anxiety and many other 'bucket' diagnoses are all legitimate descriptions of various conditions, most of them are not very helpful to the patient. Stress, as Tarnalberry says, is something you can do something about if you are aware of it or made aware, and...
  20. Been there, done that; fixed on warranty
  21. You and IrishHeart should get together and discuss this problem. She has solved it by depositing the tea in the computer or keyboard, or both. You may be more adept??
  22. Here's one of many possibilities: Almond Flour Bread 2 A versatile recipe that can be used for bread, cakes or pizza. Ingredients: DRY INGREDIENTS 1 cup of brown rice flour 1 cup almond flour ¾ cup white rice flour ¼ cup tapioca flour 2 ½ teaspoons guar gum or xanthan gum 1 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons instant yeast WET INGREDIENTS 2 e...
