  1. Walt- in particular- im recommending you not take St. John's Wort. for some people it's okay and helps- but for others- it can make u feel worse- almost slip into "mania".
  2. Rhoda- thanku SO MUCH- i will get my Ferritin checked... thanku for your story- it helps to not feel alone. ive had panic attacks/s.o.b. off and on since for the last 23 years.. but so relentless the last decade... i ASSUMED it would get better after going gluten free. after going on thyroid meds- it improved up to 80%... and before i could get to the...
  3. thanku!!! will definitely try... and i prefer white cakes to yellow
  4. thanku SO MUCH! i am organizing to ask for my next tests... iron, b12 maybe.... can i ask u what your symptoms were from low iron? just fatigue? anything else? im desperate to cure my Shortness of Breath- it is so bad sometimes- that i dont want to live like that for the rest of my life- it's absolutely debhilitating and keeps me from living my life....
  5. ya, what everybody else said i got the same answer when i called Advil to clarify what the starch was- "corn gluten". it's not the same as gliadin. unless you have a sensitivity/intolerance to corn products- you should be fine.
  6. you might want to test out the rice. ie: some fodmap lists include brown rice as being problematic. maybe you should see if you react differently to brown or white rice. i too feel much much better if i avoid all grains in my diet- but if i have basmati white rice 2x a week i feel just as fine.
  7. you might be deficient in a lot of digestive enzymes.... i think if you're going thru phases where you only eat rice- then you're not getting any enzymes - so then, maybe it becomes a vicious cycle. ?? look at the lists above.. and also the fm lists- and get creative cause you gotta get some veggies and fruits down. what about pineapple??? try it- it...
  8. thanku for bringing it up!! ive only been to the dentist once since i went 100% gluten free- and i NEVER EVEN THOUGHT TO ASK about it!!!!!! wow... i feel so dumb... so now i have to investigate before going in? do most of them have gluten in that gross paste??
  9. it might not be ALL via.. ive always heard from the gluten free community- to stay away from FLAVORED coffee.. possible gluten contamination... so maybe it's just the caramel via and not regular via. ?? but of course- Rooibos is probably healthier. altho, i am NOT a pro in knowing which tea bags dont have gluten contamination.?? ive only had publix decaf...
  10. its not all fruit- only fruit with a higher fructose content than sucrose content. i can eat plenty of berries and pineapple.. i can do a 1/2 of a banana more ripe than unripe, and a little bit of peaches & mango. and plenty of lemons and limes. most of the other fruits hurt me- esp. pears & dates. OH- i can also do some watermelon too. google...
  11. yes it is possible to have both, and it is a PAIN in the A. cost wise- you know how everyone charges differently and usually overcharges- ... i have catastrophic insurance- and they actually pay for 1/2 of my visit, and MOST of my labs.. it is pretty pricey. my visit is like 250 something.. and maybe 70 goes on my bill- and my labs are WAY overpriced BIG...
  12. ive got Celiac, Hashimoto's, and Grave's. why would your conditions make u not live too much longer???? i understand hypoglycemia, but i dont know anything about the other condition? my blood sugar is so much more stable since going gluten free. and also i try to eat fat &/or protein with every meal- otherwise my sugar will drop. i also suspect...
  13. they even make u sick with the peanut butter???? cause if i eat some almond butter with mine or toast or whatever, im usually fine... it's if it's by itself am in trouble
  14. omg YES bananas are gluten free!!!!! and i totally relate- bananas in baked goods dont make me sick at all!!! most of the times-as long as i eat the banana WITH SOMETHING... yogurt, almond butter, toast, im fine- but by itself- i could be throwing up
  15. yes- eating gluten free will really help any autoimmune disease- but we have no idea how much damage has been done to your thyroid- or how high your TPO abs are... or if you by chance also have Grave's abs..... like said above- this has to be monitored by an Endocrinologist- and that Endo should be checking ALL your numbers.. trust us- if you need to be...
  16. i love that site- and Dr. J seems like the nicest guy. i also find a lot of truth in there for me... my cousin especially loved this site- i shared it with her because she gets extreme migraines & PARIAL seizures whenever she ingests MSG & aspartame- even if it's just in toothpaste... dont know if she's celiac or not.. but she and her two...
  17. ok, from what ive read- a total t3 test is kind of worthless.. or rather doesnt explain much. i think you need to specifically ask for FREE T3. your TSH & T4 (latest) to me say you are entering into HypOthyroid! the doctors are still using the old range for TSH of .5 to 5.0 or 4.5... but it really should be .3 to 3.00. a Thyroid condition can totally...
  18. ya, im pretty sure it's ONLY Olive oil- and i sure as hell hope so... cause i have to avoid a lot of things in addition to gluten. i did see an article that exposed that the food companies were being dishonest about grading their olive oil. ie: some bottles that say Xtra Virgin are not really xtra virgin, but just regular.
  19. thanku so much GFinDC for all the info. i have to say, im very in shock that the WHO even knows what DH is, but impressed. so the WHO has nothing to say about Potassium Iodide & Hashimoto's &/or Grave's??? there's a lot of talk within the thyroid community- and the panic i felt on it was horrific.
  20. instant coffee always makes me more nauseaous than reg. brewed coffee... i just assumed it was an acidic problem rather than a cc issue.. but i could be wrong. coffee can be irritating for some- because of the acidity and the tannins. if i just have 1 big cup with some kind of creamer im okay... but if i overdo it- i will get nausea & diarreaha.. same...
  21. YESSSSSSSSS please post the recipe!!!! ive NEVER seen gluten-free choco chip cookies look that good ever!! damnnnnnn
  22. u should ask for a blood test now! are you eating gluten regularly??? (equivalent of 4 slices of bread per day?)... if so, then -if i were u, i would get a blood test now- no sense in putting it off- because you may feel so bad later on- that u may not want to do a "gluten challenge"... so do the test now- demand a complete Celiac panel: TTG Iga &...
  23. it might be the cheaper quality vitamins... i know if i take vitamins from the grocery store- i get incredibly nauseus.. also, zinc makes me nauseas. and ascorbic acid gives me gerd. or it could be the corn byproducts ??? caramel color sometimes makes me nauseaus and i think it's from corn ??
  24. OMG that's so AWFUL!!!!! why did they use the Betadine in spite of what you told them?????? oh that makes me angry. yes ive seen pictures online of people burned after surgery from it.im sorry that happened to u. ive wondered what i would need to tell them in the even of surgery- or even something like a bone scan when they inject you with iodine and other...
  25. i dont even think you have to get that scientific. bottom line is- a vaccine "jolts" the immune system. if you have genes that predispose you to an autoimmune disease- then you may be gambling. you dont even have to get into all the poisons they put in there to understand that some of us may end up having our diseases "triggered" by these jolts. of course...
