I found it odd that when you click on the link to her "award winning recipe" that it does not appear to be gluten free. -

To my knowldege no. It came up in casual conversation while at my eye appointment, but the eye doctor didn't elabroate any more on it. He just mentioned that I just might have to give up on the notion of wearing contacts. I have no redness or damage to the eye from the contacts. I remember when I was 14 when I first got contacts, the doctor did tell me... -
I had my antibody levels rechecked at 6 months and then again a little over a year later. I did have a repeat EGD and biopsy this April (1 1/2 years since last one) but I had the test for other reasons and since he was there he rebiopsied the small bowel to check progress. I my opinion I wouldn't rescope this soon. Wait for your six month blood work and...

ARCHIVED Might Be Changing Jobs And Am Stressin
Roda replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you choose to do the move I would go into it with a positive attitude. Be honest from the start if it comes up. Just state matter of factly that you have food intolerences etc. and not make a big deal of it and manage them accordingly. -
Well here were my finds today. Went to Food Lion and they indeed had the chocolate and yellow cake mixs and the cookies marked down to $1.88. I bought two boxes of each. Went to Big Lots and they had Perky's nutty flax cereal ($2.00/box), Envirokidz orgainic gorilla munch and panda puffs cereal ($2.50/box), Thai kitchen instant rice noodle soups ($0.5...

My kid's pediatrician REFUSED to test my children. I was so mad that I scheduled an appointment just to talk to him. I was going to go in armed with information and articles. My husband ultimately convinced me not to go and to ask my kid's allergist/immunologist (he also knew that I would be very confrontational). All I had to do was get on the phone...

My original pcp never even brought up celiac when I was having problems. After about a 1 1/2 years with a new endocrinologist I asked her if she knew anything about celiac (I had been doing research for a link between low ferritin/hashimotos and celiac kept coming up) and she said not much except that it was autoimmune and I was probably at greater risk...

I may have to check out Food Lion today. Also on a side note when I was up in PA the end of June, Big Lots had Perky's nutty rice and nutty flax for $2.00 a box. They were clearing out the old style boxes since the box changed. I bought 5 boxes. It was really nice not paying tax on food too. I don't know if it was a regional thing or if other Big Lots...

My PMS symptoms got really bad after I stopped breastfeeding my youngest son in 2006. That is when all my other symptoms started up also. My husband said that I was unbearable to be around that my mood swings were horrible. He also noted that I was never that bad before, just a little emotional. The back pain and cramping were bad enough that I would...

ARCHIVED What's The Easiest Bread Recipe W/o Bread Machine?
Roda replied to Glutenfreenoobie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Go to the libary and check out that recipe book. It just might be up your alley. Cornstarch is pretty inexpensive. I buy argo and it states gluten free on the container. I bought two really big containers recently at Sams Club. Potato starch is a little more expensive and around here I have found it at our local health food store, Earth Fare (an organic... -

Also, I forgot to ask if your contact lens are the daily disposable ones that you use a new pair every day? That is what I have been using for the last year. The brand I am using now are alot more comfortable than the previous. Dr. said they are made out of the same material heart stents are made from. He told me that the material is more compatible with... -

Could you have sjogren's syndrome? It is an autoimmune disease that can affect the eyes, mouth, mucus membranes, and probably other things (there are several people on here with more knowledge than I) that could be causing the dryness? Here is a link: Open Original Shared Link On a side note I gave up wearing contacts in 1999 due to the constant dryness... -

There are several recipes in that book for bread that I have yet to try. I have made the biscuits and they had the consistency and feel I was looking for. If you are looking for a bread that has the feel, texture an taste of regular bread then according to her recipe try this one (I have not tried it yet, but I am going to soon). Egg Bread Loaf Roben... -

Some suggestions for keeping the deer out of your garden that my mother has tried and had luck with: put a radio out in the garden and have it on a timer to come on and off at certain times, tie scented soap or fabric softner sheets around the fence and tying metal pie tins around also. These have worked for my mom in the past. This year the deer have...

I've been picking green beans. My first picking on Monday morning I got a plastic grocery bag 3/4 full. Thats quite a few considering I only two rows about 7' long and another patch about 3'. I've been picking them now as they come on. I just picked 5 more cucumbers and we are going to eat them for supper with the green beans. Now I'm waiting on my zuccs...

ARCHIVED Vent - My Turn - Tired From Thyroid Disease
Roda replied to Skylark's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes I have hashimotos and no I have not had my dosage increased since gluten free. Actually I had my levothyroxine dosage reduced last year. I had plenty of medication increases in the years before gluten free. I started with current endocrinologist in 2007 long before my celiac diagnosis. The first visit she added cytomel to my daily levothyroxine after... -
Alot of people can tolerate the fosamax and the other similuar durgs just fine. Be aware of the side effects and just watch for any unwanted symptoms. That said, my mother who has osteopenia/osteoporosis cannot take any of those drugs. She does not have any dental implants but did have jaw pain. They switched her to another one and her symptoms worsened...

ARCHIVED Digestive Enzymes - Malt Diastase Free?
Roda replied to newburyport's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know this is an older post, but I was wondering if you still take these? I've been trying welchol for my diarrhea and it really hasn't made a big difference. At my worst I know I was not, and still am not digesting fats well. My GI suggested testing the stool to look at a pancreas problem. I am contemplating trying a digestive enzyme but don't know... -

On the few occasions that I have went out to eat it never occured to me to ask if I could bring something in, I just did. There have been times that I have carried a little playmate cooler too. A few weeks ago when I met my parents in WV they wanted to eat at this buffett. Dad went in and asked if there was anything gluten free and they told him no. So... -
My family along with my parents are going to WDW in Feb. My parents are taking their airstream and we are going to stay in it at the Walt Disney World Resort. It looks and sounds like a great place to stay and the kids will love it. We will be doing most of our own cooking at the campsite in the airstream since my parents don't want to pay the high prices...
