  1. I use Desert Essence. A lot of their products now say gluten free right on the label, and their "Organics" line is completely gluten free.
  2. I have taken both NatureMade and Sundown brands, which you can find pretty much anywhere. Both brands are gluten free, and say so on the label. I'm pretty sure they're dairy free too, but double check the lable on that. I like them also because they both make some of their vitamins in softgel form which is easier to digest/absorb.
  3. Good idea...i needed a list when I was stuck at the mechanic for 4 hours with nothing "safe" in walking distance but a gas station. My suggestions: M&Ms, sunflower seeds, some places may have fruit...
  4. I haven't been very impressed with Udi's lately. When I've used it the last few months, it's seemed dried out, and some slices even had these big gaping holes in them. I'm sold on Rudi's, though. It stays soft when I toast it and is the closest thing to tasting like "real" bread. Sooo yummy!
  5. Here's another list from last year. Again, you will need to double check the ingredients just in case. Open Original Shared Link
  6. The lady on the below website updates her candy lists every year...she may just not have done the Easter one yet. Here's the Easter candy list from last year. Some of these may be ok still, but you'll need to double check in case something changed. Open Original Shared Link
  7. Just some thoughts... If you share your home with gluten-eaters, are you doing everything you can to avoid contamination? Do you share condiments, toasters, cookware, etc? That would be something I'd check first. It may also be that you need to cut back on the processed foods for a while until you're completely healed. Even if they're gluten free, they can...
  8. In the US, Cadbury is licensed by Hershey.
  9. Places like Moe's and Qdoba make me nervous anyway. It seems too risky with the cafeteria-style food prep they do. I was there with some coworkers one day and noticed the crumbs flying when the girl behind the counter picked up a tortilla bowl to make a salad. I decided not to eat.
  10. I tried it, too (after originally posting this topic), and seemed to do ok with it.
  11. Try not to beat yourself up about it...you're going to be ok! You'll have this disease all your life, and mistakes are bound to happen. The good thing is that they help you learn what not to do again. Hang in there!
  12. Just taking a shot in the dark... are you getting enough protein?
  13. I guess I must have overlooked her statement because I was thinking of it in terms of addressing people who are going gluten free for the sake of weight loss or just being healthier, when they really don't need to. But, you make a good point.
  14. I was expecting the same write-off of the gluten free diet as a fad. Was pleasantly surprised... Open Original Shared Link
  15. I would guess it was the restaurant. You'll find restaurants can be hit or miss, even if they have the gluten free menus and appear to take precautions. Sometimes the staff is uneducated, and sometimes they have bad prep practices in the kitchen. My advice would be to take a break from restaurants for a while until you get the hang of things and understand...
  16. I'm not sure about CC bumping numbers up that high - it seems to me that she would have to be getting significant amounts of gluten for them to keep climbing upward. I would think that now that the whole house is gluten free that you should see some improvement. Personally, the day before my last blood draw, I was most likely cross-contaminated by a restaurant...
  17. I saw it yesterday morning at the gym and was so excited and encouraged to see it. Hope there will be more to come!
  18. Your statement above makes me think you have trouble with corn itself...not necessarily corn that has just been cc'd. (Forgive me if you've already clarified...I may have missed it.)
  19. Just wondering how you know you don't have celiac. Were you tested? My thought would be that if you truly don't have it or a life-threatening allergy, then you would not need to be as overly cautious.
  20. Oats are not considered safe unless they are certified gluten free, and even then they are a debatable choice for celiacs. Since McDs wouldn't confirm it, I would take the oatmeal as not being safe...steer clear.
  21. I've already seen it mentioned on this site, but if you print off the Rudi's coupon, they will donate money to celiac disease research and education. Here's a link to the coupon: Open Original Shared Link
  22. This thread is over three years old, so keep in mind some of the ingredients may have changed.
  23. Do you feel bad after eating nuts? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. I was tested for food allergies and came up positive on 30-40 different foods, but I don't necessarily have any adverse effects. (Food allergy test results aren't always reliable, btw.) Since I have no detectable symptoms from eating the stuff I'm supposedly allergic to, my allergist told...
  24. Don't over-analyze it...sometimes people are just forgetful. If you think they'd be really offended, then smile and say thanks, and then pass it on to a gluten-eater later. It doesn't have to be a big deal.
  25. Thanks everyone. I'm thinking I'll just have to wean myself off of it. I had one can this morning, so that will be it for me today. I think I'm addicted to the bubbles...plus there's just something about an ice cold diet coke. I do like the Izze carbonated fruit sodas, though...those have helped. This is going to be about as tough as giving up gluten...
