  1. Coffee/caffeine has been known to be inflammatory to the bowel as well as a laxative to many folks. Personally, I don't drink the stuff anymore since the colitis diagnosis. But that might be the problem for many people. I know even people with muscle/back problems/joint problems have been seen to improve on a caffeine free lifestyle.
  2. Nifty lil thing. Thanks for the heads up. Had no idea this existed.
  3. EOS - States Gluten Free right on the package, Burts Bees as well. Just ordered some lip gloss and lipstick and eye shadow from Red Apple Lipstick
  4. I think (please correct me if I am wrong guys) hemp seeds (shelled or hulled) are high in fiber and can cause GI issues. I know I have that problem with them, I bloat and get really painful GI symptoms. I think a healthy "movement" or two might help. Sorry your feeling icky. I hope it passes soon.
  5. I always thought that taste came from the xanthum gum that would need to be added to certain mixes...maybe it is the bean taste....I never knew.... Amazing cake though Simona
  6. Hi Guys. I was shopping at Walmart this weekend (I normally don't go there because of several reasons, but I was there anyways) I found the new apple cin chex (marked gluten-free) this weekend AND I found the EOS (they look like little balls) chapstick/lipgloss stuff - I happened to pick one up and look at the label and it actually said gluten free!...
  7. Welcome to the board! I do find that nightshades as well as dairy give me those symptoms, and together...whoa! So it is possible for sure that nightshades could do that to you. I would remove them and see how you feel Feel better!
  8. I too have had reactions to the cin gluten-free chex. And I have eliminated milk and eaten them plain and I still have an issue. But not a normal glutening type issue so I think it must be something else in that box.

    ARCHIVED 1 Year

Congrats! And well done! I do kinda feel like we need lil medals of strength or something for each year we go through gluten-free. We are all warriors after all.
  10. OOOH! Good idea. TY TY!
  11. This isn't bad maybe I could just remove the cayenne and add more black pepper for a lil spicyness. TY!
  12. Peppers are nightshades Including cayenne. Except black pepper. That is not considered a nightshade. I think I miss my nightshades more than gluten and dairy at this point.....lol
  13. Anyone out there that is Gluten-free Casein-free and Nightshade free have any recommendations for a spicy sauce for things like tacos or chicken wings? I am seriously missing my taco sauce/spicy sauces, etc. I need alternatives that are nightshade free which seems to be the main ingredients in products like these. Thanks!!

    ARCHIVED Help!

Sorry. I hope you feel better. Water and rest seems to help the most if you can rest. Maybe even some advil or tylenol if you can take either of those for the pain in your knees. Or even some pepto for your tummy might help? By now hopefully your feeling better. And yes I think we have all done this before early in our diet. Just kinda re-enforces that...
  15. Around 114 to 120 today (depending on what part of town). Yesterday my car said 119. Ugh.
  16. Dang that sucks (there's that word again, lol) but yeah its amazing what food has the capacity to do to our bodies. I feel ya.
  17. It could be thyroid. That you would need a doctor to test for. But in the interim, perhaps an elimination diet might be something you could try until you could test with a doc? I would recommend removing dairy completely and see if that helps, if not then you know it's not dairy. But there are other foods that can give you grief, so maybe running through...
  18. Irish, I think sucked/sucks is the perfect word. I know when I did both together 3 years ago it was horrible, but since I did casein and gluten together it prolly wasn't that bad because I didn't know there was such a thing as casein withdraw. When I added casein/dairy back into my diet 6 months later, no issues I went back on it. Now, with colitis...
  19. Interesting. I also found a link ( Open Original Shared Link ) about gluten and casein, which is interesting as well. Since many of us have had to go off casein and I definitely notice the withdraw there.
  20. Does anyone else think it's ironic and funny that the potato seasoning may contain gluten. Ok, that might be my twisted sense of humor but yea.... Thanks for the updated list
  21. Pretty much what Karen said. Especially with hands. You might find that you lick frosting or something off your hands but you had just put on lotion that has gluten in it..and blam: a glutening can happen at that point. Several folks have mentioned accidentally getting shampoo in their mouths in the shower...it happens and can cause a glutening. Chapsticks...
  22. I think another way to look at this too is that Kraft and all others are businesses. Even though they are nice enough to be as honest and up front as they can be to the folks of the gluten free community....they still run a business and they still have to cover their butts legally from any folks that might want to sue them. I think it's hard to look...
  23. Celiac effects the small intestine not the large, so a colonsscopy only looks at the large intestine, can't see celiac there. The endoscopy would have looked at the small intestine and would have had to biopsy a piece (or several) for celiac confirmation. Of course some docs can see damage there as well without the biopsy, but that is the golden rule for...
  24. It could be the milk, but also chocolate is known to be a trigger for migraine headaches. Perhaps waiting on the milk up to 6 months. That seems about the norm around here. And when you try it again, I would recommend only trying milk. If you have no issues then move on to chocolate..but if the chocolate continues to give you migraines it might be the...
