  1. You are still such a newbie to the diet that your body is still healing. Withdrawals can last for months. Use the search function on this forum to read old threads about people's experience with withdrawals. It could also be dehydration. My dizzy spells were debilitating and i went to a celiac specialist. He said people with celiac and other autoimmune...
  2. Two weeks wasn't nearly enough time to see a big difference from the gluten free diet. It's so complicated that it takes 2 weeks to get the hang of it, so likely you weren't truly even gluten free yet. However, since you are eating gluten I would get tested. Ask and then demand if you have to that your doctor run the celiac blood panel. Only ONE out of...
  3. I thought I got glutened a few days ago so I just was toughing it out with the nausea, vomiting and terrible lower abdominal pain. But 6 days later I was getting worse and last night I started having horrible pain in my lower tummy area and my lower back. It also hurt to pee so I thought I better go to the doc. Not only do I have a bladder infection...
  4. You're overreacting. Don't be so hard on yourself. It's called enjoying time with your girlfriend. There wasn't enough pretzel on that bottle to make you that sick I'm sure and even if there was, you caught yourself and didn't drink it.
  5. My favorite is when they think it has something to do with sugar. Just tonight a friend who is a NURSE said to me "Well you might not want to eat that with your gluten diet. It has a lot of sugar." I'm not on a "gluten" diet and sugar is not my problem. Some lady today at Sprouts was looking at a gluten free pizza. I told her it was good, although...
  6. It will get better!!! So much better. I have small kids too and the first few months were HARD. But now I feel great unless I get glutened by accident.
  7. You are only 2 months into the diet and that's not a very long time. I would check all your products and then give it time. You also might want to try eliminating a couple of other foods people tend to have trouble with, namely dairy and soy. If you get better after a couple of weeks add one back in at a time and see which ones causes you trouble. It's very...
  8. I eat out A LOT and I rarely get glutened. I'm very sensitive too. I'm just careful about where I eat out and what I eat there. But I'm going to give up on popcorn at Target. Not good enough to be worth it. My daughter was eating it. I was hungry. That sort of thing. Next time I'll stay hungry or bring a snack.
  9. You are right. Gluten filled rinse water will contaminate your dishes!!! The dishwasher I don't worry about because it rinses with gallons and gallons of water and it's very hot. Your husband needs to stop being a brat and do more to keep you safe.
  10. You cannot let this disease destroy your life and make you a hermit!! I eat out a lot, like several days per week and I only get glutened once in awhile and I'm VERY sensitive. Many places have gluten free menus now and then you tell them "I am very sensitive please be extra careful with my meal" and they will be. Mom and Pop type places can be great because...
  11. It was 6 months before I had ONE symptom free day. It takes time for your body to heal. The best thing you can do is eat clean and give your body the fuel it needs to heal the mess in your intestines.
  12. I'm 11 months gluten free and still processing the anger. I had celiac for 40 long years, got diagnosed a few weeks after my 40th birthday. Just honor it, journal it, feel it and then move past it. It's okay to be angry. We all are!
  13. It can take months to get better. It was 6 months before I had one symptom free day. what about beauty products? Shampoo runs down your face in the shower, soaps and creams get on your hands. If your products have wheat (never found any with barley or rye) then you are getting glutened still.
  14. That doctor should lose his license!!! Celiac does NOT go into remission. ARGh that makes me angry. Anyway, yes the reactions get way worse. I used to be random too. Sometimes i would eat pizza and feel fine and others get sick. However, I was ALWAYS just sort of sick, so maybe I was reacting and not realizing it because I had so many symptoms all the...
  15. I went through the whole process of reading the big tubs and labels at my local Target to see if I could eat the popcorn and it was fine. No gluten. I ate it no problem several times. Until today... they must have changed formulas of seasoning or something because it got me. Vomiting and horrible pain in my gut all day long. Sheer misery. Seriously...
  16. Hang in there Jason. You do have triumphs and improvements here and there and you have a girlfriend now. Stay focused on those things as much as you can.
  17. Remember an elimination diet is just a tool. It's not forever! Hang in there. You can do it! Not sure how long you have been on it, but as soon as you start to feel better, which is generally by 3 weeks or so, then start adding in foods you love to make life easier. If you aren't feeling better after 3 weeks, then maybe look at other options? With the...
  18. Don't despair because some people take longer to heal but you might just get back to your old self eventually. It took me about 6 months to have one symptom free day and now 11 months gluten free I feel great most of the time. I only have lingering afternoon fatigue but it's managable. Make sure you are totally gluten free and that includes hair products...
  19. I also like Tinkyada. I buy it at Whole Foods or Sprouts but you can also order it online. I'm Italian and was so freaked out about pasta until I found Tinkyada tasted "normal".
  20. My neuro symptoms- dizziness, foggy head and anxiety attacks- happen within about half an hour or less. It's my first symptom and how I know I'm glutened. I hate it!
  21. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot gluten free pole. Decaf coffee and tea have some caffeine in them because it's just impossible to remove all of it. I would imagine gluten is the same way. I can't see how they could remove all the gluten and why even bother when there are so many non wheat based alternatives? Scary to me.
  22. Oh honey, you're gonna hate me now. It was SIX months before I had ONE symptom free day. However I did have improvements in some things right away and everything kept getting a little bit better all the time, but it takes a long time to completely heal. There is destruction in your intestines and it takes awhile for your little inner army of construction...
  23. Both my brothers are Sheriffs. Welcome to the club you never wanted to join! Kinnikinnick donuts are good. I do second that recommendation.
  24. This is crazy talk-- liking celiac! LOL I abhor celiac and the pain in the buttocks it is for me. But... I love feeling good so I love that I was finally diagnosed celiac and I'm not sick anymore. But if I could have 3 wishes from a genie I'd wish to be a gluten eater again in a heartbeat. Celiac SUCKS!!!!!
  25. Don't tell them!!! Lie and say it was positive. Make your life easier!!!
