  1. Did your doctor test you for Celiac first?
  2. I have used both brands and been fine.
  3. I am with Cycles - I remember this post said "pin worms" originally? Anyway, glad you feel better. However, there is no scientific evidence any of this will cure Celiac Disease or that parasites are the cause of most Celiac or NCGI.
  4. Why not? You don't know if you have Celiac. Maybe its has nothing to do with gluten? If you do have Celiac, you can eat a regular gluten containing diet for a few months and then get Celiac blood tests. Unfortunately, there are currently no legitimate tests for "gluten sensitivity".
  5. I have a "mixed" household. We do all the dishes together in the dishwasher. I wouldn't want a pan with a whole bottom of a gluteny burned pizza crust going through but ....I wouldn't really want a burned stuck-on gluten-free one going in either. We use the same plates, glasses & silverware. Use the same glass or ceramic pans/bowls. Mostly...
  6. The gluten-free diet is a lifetime requirement. Eating any gluten, no matter how small an amount, can damage your intestine. This is true for anyone with the disease, including people who do not have noticeable symptoms. It can take weeks for antibody levels (indicating intestinal damage) to normalize after a person with celiac disease has consumed gluten...
  7. There is no cure for Celiac disease - you have it for your whole life. Now... Because you are currently eating gluten, maybe you should just get re-diagnosed? Then you will no for sure. And get a new doctor....the one you have sounds like a jerk.
  8. Often they do more than one test on a vial of blood.
  9. Maybe it was corn all along? Maybe the other things you have cut don't bother you? Maybe you can try adding something back in to your diets - in a few months.
  10. Every year, you will get your blood tested. That should help you to know if you are doing enough for your body. I don't remember how long you have been gluten-free, but it might be best to eat only simple safe foods you have prepared for a few months to let your gut heal. After it is healed, you may find you do get symptoms from an accidental glutening...
  11. I think it is an interesting article. Dr. Jabri is a Celiac expert. In my family, we have a very strong immune system - if it takes everyone else 24 hours to run through a virus or "bug" - if we actually get it, which is rare, we are over it in 12. So I have always wondered if my great immune system might have something to do with Celiac.
  12. It's probably not directly caused by Celiac but may be a complication of anemia caused by the Celiac & the inability to absorb iron & B12

    ARCHIVED Chicago

Open Original Shared Link I didn't go here but they catered at the ICDS 2 years ago when it was in Chicago. They do events with the Univ of Chicago Celiac Center a lot. Also, a lunch place in the suburbs..that catered a lunch... I'll think about the name and add it here. Edit - it's Rose's But this looks like a good list Open Original Shared...
  14. Why did you go gluten free? If you have Celiac disease, you can not eat gluten again. Sometimes, when people cut out something that was a major part of their diet, things get out of whack. Maybe they aren't eating as much fiber, or more fiber. Maybe they aren't eating as much fat as they used to. OR have added a lot of processed gluten-free cookies...
  15. I think it's sometimes a problem with the definition of what is unhealthy? A few drops of food coloring? Butter? Wine? Potatoes? Carbs? Fats? Gluten? Corn? Grains? Dairy? Red meat? Fish? Nuts? I eat peanuts, but for some people, that would be a very unhealthy choice. I eat non- gluten grains. I think that is healthy for me but some people will...
  16. I don't think anyone said they contain gluten - but even if they did, they aren't ingested. Knowing Colleen, I think she saw this notice and thought it might be helpful for some people. Perhaps some over sight on products marketed as medication or supplements would keep people from wasting money on useless or dangerous cures? Please note - this...
  17. i bought a set of backpack pans from Cabelas. I bought the biggest set I could get. Probably $40-140 depending on what you get. Backpacking pots and pans fit inside each other and are fairly light weight. I can get a pan big enough for 2 people's pasta, a small fry pan, a lid with a built in colander ( you really don't want to use someone colander), smaller...
  18. I would just wash it. IF a seed falls on it, you will see it. It isn't pulverized like flour.
  19. Yes and no. If it gets in your mouth - it needs to be gluten-free. So obviously, lipstick, needs to be gluten-free. I look for gluten-free lotions and shampoos because I seem to get them in my mouth. I don't worry about mascara or the hair dye at the beauty parlor. The gluten reaction happens in the small intestine. "...Because gluten cannot be...

  21. To be a bit gross but - If he has gluten in his mouth, and gives you a peck on the cheek - fine. But if he or you want a "deeper" kiss, whatever is in his mouth is in your mouth. So, if you would not drink the beer or eat the Whole wheat bread -then you have a problem. As for eating out - maybe don't for a couple of months? Give your intestines...
  22. To the national chain list add PF CHangs, Pei Wei, most Brazilian Steak Houses, & Bone Fish, Probably all Self-serve frozen yogurt places (No toppings), Dairy Queen soft serve, Wendy's Frostys - cause we need desserts.
  23. Sunday night - steaks, roasted spare grass, and crash hot potatoes with pina coladas for dessert. Monday night - Last week I threw chicken breasts in the KFG (crockpot) with some Gates BBQ sauce. Shredded it and we had sandwiches, Made nachos with black beans and the chicken and some more BBQ sauce. YUM!

Yeah but it still won't keep her from making antibiodies, etc to gluten - which I think is what she was asking?
  25. Sometimes I eat first. Sometimes I bring food. Sometimes I see if there will be something I can eat. sometimes I bring a dish that I can eat and get the first serving or bring a little bit separate for me. It depends. A good caterer may be able to give you gluten-free food. But I would talk to them first. If you are going to a restaurant, you might...
