  1. I think you have to keep good records of the difference between the gluten version and the gluten-free version. So. - if a loaf of bread costs $3 and a loaf of gluten-free bread costs $6, you keep the receipt and some proof of the price of regular bread. Then $3 is your medical cost. And, your medical expenses have to be, I think, 10% of your AGI. I would...
  2. Have you tried a sulfite free toothpaste? Helped my son with mouth sores.
  3. The stuff I have learned about Community College classes, bad grades one semester of HS and state University- Good grades in CC show you have buckled down and grown up, which most Universities like. You might talk to the admissions counselor at the places he might want to go. State schools are more likely to accept the credits and forgive the stupid high...
  4. Welcome. Lots of new people start new topics/ threads! Much better etiquette than hijack someone else's thread . Start here for some basic info: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/
  5. "Can the Elisa IgG food panel detect non-celiac gluten sensitivity? No, it can’t. In fact, it can’t detect any form of food allergy or intolerance." Open Original Shared Link Seems like some sort of elimination diet might be cheaper and more accurate. Not as easy....
  6. Looks like they meet every other month and have a meeting tonight. Open Original Shared Link
  7. Back in the 1970s my mom would make Chex mix. We all, my mom included, hated the wheat ones. But she made us eat them! When my sister & I grew up, we only used the Rice and corn in our mixes.
  8. Doesn't make sense for me. I never was a big bread/ baked goods eater. I would say I ate a lot less gluten than most people I know.
  9. Fortunately, I think we would notice it contained noodles instead of rice! When the package actually contains Chicken & rice soup - is it gluten-free? I have never looked as it seems so many soups put flour in the broth.
  10. I don't see any gluten in it.
  11. Have you googled "celiac support Denver" I'm sure there is a group. You live in a great area for gluten-free eating. My son is at CSU. We like Beau Jos for pizza. There are all the usual good Celiac friendly places like Outback Steak, Bonefish Grill, Pf Changs, Pei Wei (? not sure if its in CO). And a bunch more. There is someone who just mentioned...
  12. This has nothing to do with dinner - more a breakfast issue. I got some Enjoy Life Flax cereal. Not much taste but good for you. The cat is very insistent that she should have some. More insistent then she is with ham! And this cat LOVES ham! She comes running if you just open a pack of ham.
  13. Buffalo chicken pizza and 4 cheese pizza ( didn't see a fifth cheese in the fridge I wanted to use )
  14. US list for Frito Lay Open Original Shared Link Chex cereals are all gluten-free , except the yucky wheat flavor. I think Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles say gluten-free on the box? Most fruit snacks, Jelly Bellys, many candies....... So much junk food..... So tight jeans!
  15. Look at someone else's profile. That is the stuff they can see on yours. Or sign out and come on as a guest and look at your profile. I think guests ( unregistered users) can see profiles unless that changed.
  16. Enjoy life is dairy free. I think some of the really dark dark dark dark chocolates might be, too. Open Original Shared Link
  17. Usually, doctors don't do multiple biopsies over 10 years unless your antibodies continue to be elevated on a gluten free diet.
  18. Open Original Shared Link Can someone with celiac disease donate blood, bone marrow or organs? There is no reason why someone with celiac disease (in remission while on a gluten-free diet) can’t donate blood, other biological specimens or postmortem organs. Not sure if they thought about non- postmortem organs in answering this question.
  19. Most lunch meats are gluten-free. Read the ingredients. I have gotten many brands, some not labelled gluten-free but they have no gluten in the ingredients. These are 3 I know say gluten-free on the package Boars head - you can get it in packages. Hormel Natural Choice says gluten-free on it. Applegate ( kind of pricey).
  20. I think MSG is a pretty common issue for lots of people - Celiac and not celiac
  21. Just a little more info: This does not say anything about checking your paper towels for gluten. Would think they would mention that if it was an issue. Open Original Shared Link "What’s the best way to keep my kitchen countertops gluten free? Sponges are not only a large source of bacteria, but are also very likely to spread gluten around the k...
  22. So....you are saying....Brawny has gluten but you have no proof for this rumor? This discussion is really running off into a ditch ( having a snow storm here ). If paper towels were a gluten issue, the experts would warn us against them. I have not seen any warning against them. If you are ingesting paper towels and believe that they are making you...
  23. Reading this may be helpful: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/#entry896943 Look at the what's for dinner thread and see all the different things people eat. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/75238-the-whats-for-dinner-tonight-chat/
  24. Everyone else is responding to the fact that you can't biopsy with just a camera. I wanted to respond to your concern that 9 people in one hospital had an odd outcome with a procedure that is done, literally, millions of times a year without an issue. If you don't have an endo to compare to, I'm not sure how helpful it will be. If it shows you still...
  25. There are millions of endoscopes and colonoscopies done safely ever year.
