  1. Read around on here. Many people who have a scientific background object to them because they will not publish thier findings. So there is no scientific research or evidence that the tests work. I have never heard of anyone who has sent them tests and not had a positive lab result. Maybe someone else has? Why didn't you get a Celiac blood test from...
  2. I'm not sure if that lab is legit. When I looked at them they wanted to sell pills so you could eat gluten. The Univ of Chicago Celiac Center does a free blood screening in Oct . they sent me a postcard about it that said to eat a full gluten diet for 3 months.
  3. Sometimes dark stools are because of something you ate. Red wine, blue, green or black food coloring. Might be some others. Just a thought, if you've been eating corn chips in fun colors or something like that. We had black ones for black and gold school colors - scary poops for days.
  4. How did the food turn out? Are those your pugs? I love pugs.
  5. Have you googled them with the word " scam"? It appears they do non- standard tests. You would do better convincing your doc or getting a new doc. Maybe if you explained to the doc that Celiac disease causes you not to be able to digest food and vitamins, many people need to supplement. Tho as you are healing, you should be able to use the vitamins...
  6. It takes longer than 1 week ,even if you had been strictly gluten-free , to get better. There is no time. It will depend on lots of things like how bad the damages, what vitamin deficiencies you have, how fast your body heals, A few months at best, a few years at worst. Don't go gluten-free if you are going to be tested.
  7. My hub has his bread, crackers, etc. But there's no reason to cook 2 meals. He eats my gluten-free pasta. If I make cornbread, I don't make 2, I just make the gluten-free one. I do sometimes get the rolls in a can for them to eat with soup. Many meals are just gluten-free naturally. BBQ chicken, potatoes & green beans don't have gluten. Chili doesn...
  8. Think if it like is. You don't eat watermelon all year round. You just eat it in the summer, when it's good. You haven't eaten it for 7 months and now you do, you're fine. Unless you have a problem or an allergy to watermelon or you eat too much at once, it doesn't matter that you haven't eaten it in months. There are lots of foods people only eat...
  9. Thanks GeeEFF! I think we are good for this year, but I will pass this to the Robotics coach who also teaches digital electronics. Might be a good time to stock up on all those odd little connectors.
  10. Becareful as there is a US list and a Canada list. They are different. The US list looks like the same one with no soups on it. It shows the pasta sauces & salsas & juices
  11. Call ahead to the one you are going to. You never know, one might be better at helping you then another. But I guess we don't understand why it's so important to eat the food? Why that's more important then your health? Honestly, if I was going to take a chance, I think I would pick a place with better food. OCB is OK but it's not great.
  12. I think Old Country buffet is one of the hardest to eat safely. I have been to expensive buffets and people drop the roll in the salad & pull it out. You could call ahead and see if they could serve you from fresh pans but I wouldn't think they would have a clue. Just bring some food if you can't eat first. No one can force you to eat poison unless...
  13. Wow! Then the calories aren't real either!
  14. NOOOOO! I think they put flour in the corn there! OK...I really don't know that. That place is a gluten filled mine field. Someone will use the pasta spoon in the corn. Stuff falls off the gravy spoon and drips into the green beans. There are rolls & biscuits! You could call and see if you have the rare one knows about gluten-free eating. I...
  15. When I was a teen, my friend made this. We just called it egg salad sandwiches. Not sure why they call it that, it has nothing to do with a salad.
  16. Could we get a tricked out bus, like a rock star? With all our various diet issues, it would be good to have the ability to cook. Perhaps, Nik can come over to No. America this year for a tour. Next year we can tour over there? Remember the thread about completely gluten-free restauraunts? We should hit all of them!
  17. Yes. " the Chef" hasn't come back to see what we think. Probably decided he didn't really want to cook for us. However, this thread has been fun. Some people have mentioned things they miss and others have provided a recipe or a product that would do the trick. After 2 years gluten-free, I don't really miss much old gluten foods. I miss the ease...
  18. If you were gluten-free for a year, none of the blood tests or the endo would show Celiac. It's possible you have that, but healed it in the year gluten-free.
  19. I was thinking that, too. The ham might not get crispy like bacon the way the salami or prosciutto would. Love what gluten-free said! These are grain free cupcakes!
  20. Have you tried the Kinnikuk brand? I think they are called K-toos? My gluten eating kid likes them better than Oreos.
  21. I don't think of a " pool of gluten" , more like a quick sand bog full of moist gummy flour. You just keep sinking until Lassie brings someone to pull you out. So I think Collies and Celiac.com are necessary to feel better and pull us out of the bog.
  22. Don't think a camp stove indoors is a very good idea. The poster can't stay on task to finish cooking something and clean up the mess. I would worry that using a camp stove, not recommended to be used indoors, would be a disaster waiting to happen. You can get " hot plates" for about $25. These are a plug in to the wall stove top burner. Your comment...
  23. Sounds like they use gluten-free oats. If you can eat oats, they should be OK.
  24. Choc chips are gluten-free. I use Nestles.
  25. Look at this thread. There is a pavlova with a fruit. You could use chocolate pudding instead. I put the whole thread on here because I thought you might find it interesting. We have lots of recipes, some simple and some more complex on this forum. This is a really easy & yummy choc chip PB cookie with no flour. Open Original...
