  1. Just take it with a grain of salt ( as the old saying goes). Both Dr Oz and E. Hasselbeck have reported old urban myths as true. I think one of thier favorites is that envelopes have wheat glue ( myth)
  2. I think you missed the point that both Peter & I were making. Kraft and Con- Agra ( Hunts is one of thier products) will always list gluten. The only vinegar you need to worry about would say malt vinegar. These 2 companies would clearly mark that in the ingredients.
  3. Who knows! She could have been reading some sort of instructions for the labe. Get a copy of it. Read it for yourself. Edited: Just saw you are getting a copy. If you still feel bad, make an appointment with the doctor. This sounds like you might get a call back but likely they will forget about it.
  4. Hey! Welcome! I'm in Kansas, too ( KC area). Why wouldn't they give you a blood test for Celiac? If you go gluten-free & then take the test, it won't be valid. Maybe you could get a dermatologist to biopsy next to the active lesions to test for DH ( the skin version of Celiac). Have they tested you for things like thyroid, iron, B 12, vitamin...
  5. This is for websites Lots of food is gluten-free or easy to switch to gluten-free. Look on the what's for dinner thread, too. You can check some out from the library to see if you like them, too. Check this thread for last week

  7. Isn't it funny how happy we can get about something as silly as Ketchup? Kraft and Con- Agra are companies that will fully disclose any gluten in the ingredients. They make brands that only sayCon-Agra or Kraft in the small print on the back. Like Hunts is a Con- Agra product. There are a few others but I can't find the list?
  8. You can't make claims like this without legitimate scientific evidence. Most people are lactose intolerant, at least at first, because the tips of the villi digest lactose. Spice companies will take issue with you accusing them of violating the FDa labelling laws by not disclosing the ingredients. Wheat flour would be a bad anti- clumping agent because...

    ARCHIVED Pet Food

Just remember that "Gluten free" in pet food is not the same definition as it is in human food. A gluten free dog food can have oats, rye or barley. The gluten usually refers to a junk additive made of corn, wheat or even plastic.
  10. Google has a black rectangle over the Google logo. You know, one of those ones the TV sometimes put over naked pics of some celebrity to cover the whole point of the story.
  11. For anyone else reading this.... DO NOT TAKE THE MEDICINE HOME UNTIL YOU ARE SURE IT IS gluten-free! If you take it home & then call the manufacturer, you cannot return it & get your money back. Your insurance will not pay for a second medication when they just gave you one. IF it is a pain killer, you likely can't get another because of laws...
  12. Saw your weather on the GMA this morning. Do the chickies have a heater? Or do they have to come in & snuggle, too?
  13. An endoscopy is only the top half.
  14. It was 67F here in KC yesterday. Today it's 28 with wind chill of 15. That's normal but we have been have lots of warmer days lately. Supposed to be in the 50 s by the weekend.
  15. I would go to another one. My dentist doesn't know what is gluten-free but his hygienists are the ones that have that info. Most everything they use is. Maybe not the stuff they make molds with but I haven't had to have that.
  16. We took the foccacia and sliced it. I brushed olive oil on both sides of each slice & put it back together like the loaf. Wrapped in foil and heated in the oven. So good! My gluten eaters loved it. I like the San Juan bread.
  17. My son is a college freshman. He lives in the dorm so that has helped him meet a girl or 2. I'll pretend I haven't heard the part about hooking up from you or my son, J. I want to live in denial. He is meeting most of the girls he likes in activities. A hiking group, at the student gym, a group that volunteers to help with a mentally disabled adult...
  18. I'm going to get this tattooed - all that's evil, is not gluten. Could be another reason it didn't agree with you? Stop eating out of shared fryers! Even if you don't feel bad, it can still be damaging you and making antibodies.
  19. I'm wondering, did we find out if these are Teflon? Her previous pans were not. Maybe it's the Teflon that bothers her?
  20. You could use the old pans. Just scrub with vinegar or baking soda or Barkeepers Friend. They are just plain metal not a Teflon coating. Boil Water in them for a while and pour it out.
  21. I have heard that the lactose is sort of " eaten up" to make yogurt. But I don't have this problem so I just found this. Open Original Shared Link Yogurt made with active and live bacterial cultures is a good source of calcium for many people with lactose intolerance. When this type of yogurt enters the intestine, the bacterial cultures convert...
  22. Canned pumpkin is a good addition, too. Do you cook the sweet potato first? Or does it cook enough in the muffin?
  23. Right now, here at our house in Kansas City, its FIRST Robotics season. From last Saturday until sometime in April when the championships are, life revolves around building the robot, feeding the kids and mentors who are building the robot, feeding the robot, chasing around town trying to find some odd part then finding out what they really need is the suction...
  24. "Children's Recipes'? Is it Ok if we are just sort of childlike adults? This one a kid could help make. Enjoy life makes a dairy free choc chip. Emeril Lagasse Ingredients 1 cup creamy peanut butter 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips 1 large egg, beaten...
  25. Why did you decide to cut all these out?
