  1. I believe it was on here that I read this, but not sure. You could contact M&Ms and get it verified. Special flavors like, the pretzel or raspberry or strawberry were produced on thier "extra" lines. So were holiday colors. The regular flavors stayed together on the main machines. I don't know if pretzel has become a standard flavor now or a temporary...
  2. I don't know if she is old enough for this but this is what I did with my mother & father (tho as frustrating as they can be, they were pretty good about it). I tell them "My doctor says..." Or "The doctor at the Ceiac Center at the Univ of Chicago says..." IF a doc & especially an expert says something, its true. Of course my doc knows nothing...
  3. Sometimes metal is coated with oil. Non- food uses have silicone. I would image food would be something like soy. Are these Teflon? There are new types of Teflon stuff in the last few years. Can you clean Teflon with an orange based cleaner or lemon juice or white vinegar? That should cut any grease left on them. But if you have been cooking with them...

    ARCHIVED Vinegar

I have BBQ made with apple cider vinegar. Think the Heinz is made with the white? Likely, huh? You could make ketchup. I've seen recipes and some restauraunts say they have homemade ketchup. I can't really speak to the science of vinegar to know if the parts of the corn are left in the vinegar. But, if a food bothers you, you shouldn't eat it...
  5. Sounds like my hub's hernia. It was sort of a hard bump. Somedays it seemed bigger than other days. Has the pediatrician felt the bump? Just a thought. Hope you get it figured out.
  6. I don't think you can tell if you are Super sensitive until you have done the gluten-free diet really well for at least 6 months. It takes time to heal & get in the "groove". And to make sure its not milk or something else prolonging the GI issues. You need to get the basics down before you can tell if you need to delve further and to lower levels...
  7. Here's one. There are many. just google "Celiac Centers". Many have easy to understand info about Celiac & DH. A Genetic Testing When an individual is diagnosed with celiac disease, the entire family learns that they must be tested for the condition, for they are now at risk. First degree relatives (parent, child, sibling) have a 1 in 22 chance...

    ARCHIVED Vinegar

I know this may not apply to every vinegar but it looks like this common white vinegar is made from corn not wheat. So that may be your corn problem. You got me wondering what it was made from. Saw this on the Heinz site: What Makes Heinz
  9. I would ask him to do the endoscopy while he's there and take 6-8 samples just to make sure the Celiac isn't an issue in some way.
  10. On the news they said, " an elderly man, age 59,....." Tho I have to say he looked every one of those 59 years and another 15.
  11. He sounds like a nice guy. A crumb can be starting the antibodies flowing. Some people get an immediate & recognizable reaction. For me, I think its an acumulation of crumbs that get me. http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/living-with-celiac/guide/treatment The gluten-free diet is a lifetime requirement. Eating any gluten, no matter how small...
  12. McDonalds isn't the same as a bakery or pizza place where you have to roll out dough & there is flour every where. I think it would be like when I make a gluteny sandwich for my kids. You just need to be careful and remember what might be on your hands. There are alot of specific duties at McDs that don't even require touching or fixing food.
  13. Check for barley in all teas. Read the ingredients. Most are fine but there are a few with barley.
  14. Ask him " Why not take some samples of my small intestine since you will already be there? Maybe I have more than one thing wrong? Couldn't hurt because you are already there." No arguing just point that out.
  15. You posted this on another thread: I don't eat dairy, grains, legumes, eggs, nightshades, nuts, oils and a whole other bunch of foods. No processed foods. All I eat is cabbage family vegetables and tubers (carrots, rutabaga, etc), grass-fed chicken and fish. So... why am I so low on energy? I count calories to make sure I eat enough every day ...
  16. Maybe because your diet is so limited that you are not getting the vitamins & minerals you need? HAve you had things like your iron, B12 & Vit D tested? Low amounts of these can make you tired
  17. I love this! Especially putting things in other people's carts!
  18. I think others will know more about this than I do but 6 months seems awfully early to test for Celiac. If he has only eaten gluten a few time, I don't see how he could have enough antibodies built up or damage caused. When the Celiac Center in Chicago posted info for the free blood testing in October, they required a full gluten diet for 3 months. I don...
  19. Its simple. No brushing, etc no loving. Seriously, if you have been together 5 months, you should be able to talk about this. If he isn't willing, good to know that now. He can give you a hug or a kiss on the cheek or wherever else but not the mouth with gluten crumbs in there.
  20. Sorry Folks, if this sounds a bit odd. I merged her 2 topics together so all the info about her kids is in one place. That should help her get the best answers.
  21. I did that in a brain fog with Facebook. I think I keyed the email in wrong. I have an account with my name on it over there that I can't access to delete it. Whew! Glad that's all it was.
  22. Delphi is a legitimate forum. I don't think they would send emails like that. I wonder if someone on thier Celiac forum is trying to recruit from here? I know the moderators over there.. Would you mind copying the email & pming me? I'll ask them? Has anyone else had this?
  23. Do they get fresh toppings? Clean gloves mean nothing if they have been getting thier floury fingers into the cheese & then use that floury cheese on the gluten-free crust.
  24. Sorry you feel that way.. This woman is harming her baby. People on here don't let that sort of thing go by with " oh, poor girl! Do what you want even if it kills your baby." I think people are hoping that by pointing out what she is doing to the baby, it will shock her into trying to do what is right for her health and the babys's. And if she didn...
