  1. could you post your CBC? Also, you should have a methylmalonic acid level, and a homocysteine level done. somthing in your body is preventing the use of all that iron in making red blood cells. you need to find that out, asap. Open Original Shared Link From above: Some doctors, hearing complaints of fatigue and knowing little about the condition, may...
  2. hmm...it would seem to me, if eating gluten alters a persons bowel status, they shouldn't eat gluten.....if they have diarhea gluten free, there is something else in their diet that needs to be changed.
  3. yep, sky beat me to it, but you will be hard put to find any yams in the continental USA. what you have are different varieties of sweet potatoes, which are no relation to "irish" or "white" potatoes.
  4. If they are calling in a script, in all likelyhood you will get D2, not D3. better to go to the vitamin aisle and pick up a large bottle of D3. More user friendly for the human body.
  5. the direct testing for B12 is questionable. Get tested for methylmalonic acid and homocysteine. Check out Same'
  6. presuming this person is a nutritionist, and not a dietician, she/he should be minding thier Ps+Qs. Dietician is the legally protected title, any person can hang out a shingle for "nutritionist". good luck
  7. with the lab reporting "more than" instead of a number, you truly don't know where you started from! DD has grown etc....you could have started at 1000 and now be at 291, there is no way of knowing.
  8. as you have found out, you may be exposed and not know it. An epipen may not be a bad idea.
  9. I would be wondering about endometriosis...
  10. books are using "means" or averages. Also, I think some of the "you may expect to gain" this much, is to reassure women that weight gain is to be expected, not feared. If you are not actively restricting calories, this is probably just YOUR normal state of being. Good luck!
  11. have you had an ultrasound? If so, is the fetus growing as it should? How tall are you, and how much do you weigh? Is you OBGYN ok with this amount of weight gain? Is he/she a rabid low weight gain sort? Many things to consider!
  12. At least THIS ped gave an explantion of what "Toddler's Diarrhea"is!
  13. any recent antibiotic use?
  14. this variance, is being noted in other tests as well. As has been noted here, the "norm" for TSH has been reduced. Some measures of Diabetes testing have been reduced. etc. All do to the same thought process.
  15. hair and nails need sulphur containing aminio acids.....and i think you are in "starvation" mode, which is why you aren't losing wt. on so few calories. good luck, we can't be losin' you as a resource, now can we??
  16. NOOOO!...going gluten free almost three weeks you are running a good chance of negative scope!
  17. Office staff, even if he/she were a nurse, has no business giving you that info over the phone. You can ask for and receive your results, but only the doctor is allowed to interpret them. And hope to hades that the doc has a clue!
  18. another nurse here. had a ggmother macnish, does that count? lol looking forward to being in the UK around the Olympic time....hope to get "up" your way.
  19. I tried to check out MGH and UMMC, didn't get any hits on gluten ataxia. you might be better off emailing Dr H in England. He may know who is "into" it over here. Good luck. On the other hand, what are you looking for? If you want to rule/out other causes, either of those two institutions would do.
  20. It apparently comes in different forms, ie liquid, suppository, tablet....do all forms contain gluten?
  21. I have read that some of what is being measured is Vit B12 analog, not active B12. if OPs daughter's reading is less than 500 supplementation should begin.
  22. Rose, great minds think alike! we shouldn't pay for that which we didn't get!
  23. that is what i was thinking, until I looked up ANCA scr.....seems to be related to crohns, but there isn't a scale, if present it is positive.....other things are kidney disease. there appear to be diffent preceding small letters for different issues.... aha! just thought of something....OP, is there - sign after the ANCA? and possible a comma?
  24. ???chronic appendicitis?
  25. grandparental age here... 1) depression 2) delayed adolescence d/t being dx so late.....having to work through normal psych milestones, and a life changing chronic disease at the same time. 3) Probably malnutrition, especially Vitamin D and especially if you are in the north part of the country. Research Vit D and depression in adolescents....
