ARCHIVED Vulvodynia And Celiac Disease
Mari replied to pellegrino's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I had itching in the vulva and vagina for years before I was diag. with Celiac Sprue. The undiagnosed celiac caused leaking from the anus, fecal incontence, which was annoying but usually not very noticable. Besides the itching I would get repeated bladder infections after intercourse, the fecal bacteria were pushed up into my urethra. Other celiacs have... -
I had what the Drs think was a TIA several days ago. I read that Celiac's have this problem. A CAT scan did not show that I had a stroke but only some narrowing of my neck arteries. My blood pressure was quite high (175/130) but that had dropped to 130 by the next day. More tests to come. I have Celiac Sprue, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, possible Lupus...

I was getting better on the gluten-free/df diet when about 2 years ago I took antibiotics for a tooth infection. Over the next year I lost weight and went back to a very limited diet. The SCD helped but eventually I realized I had intestinal overgrowths of Candida and several bacteria. I was able to reduce the overgrowth problems but my digestion did not...

ARCHIVED Anti Depressants
Mari replied to realmaverick's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had that kind of reaction to Librium and an over the counter intestinal spasmotic. I would stop taking it. I have had considerable relief from anxiety and depression by taking turmeric (see instructions online) as much as you can tolerate. Shigella and some E. coli produce toxins which cause depression and turmeric wont allow them to grow. Also advised... -
ARCHIVED Test Results Came Back Negative
Mari replied to edonnelly69's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This morning I came across a website that I had not seen before - The Gluten Syndrome and it is full of information about all of the different problems gluten can cause and their section on lab tests is very good. You may have to find a Dr who will work with you in resolving your health problems, some people find that seeing a DC or ND is helpful. Some... -
ARCHIVED Optimum Health Labs...did Anyone Get Tests Back, Ever?
Mari replied to arened's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have had problems like this for years, and find that I'm reluctant to get into situations which raise my anxiety, I don't always have what I think of as emotional stamina. I looked at their website and apparently they are still offering the test. I may have missed it but they do not seem to be a FDA or US Government approved Lab. At Rippoff.com 8 people... -
ARCHIVED What Probiotic Do You Recommend?
Mari replied to Momto2Boys's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have found that I can't tolerate most of the probiotics, apparently they were contaminated with something I react to. The one I like best and has no side effects is Acidophilus 9 - it has 9 normal gut bacteria. I found it at the 'tao of herbs' online. Another I use is futurebiotics Vegetarian Enzyme Complex, a multi probiotic and Multienzyme complex. For... -
ARCHIVED Liver Enzyme Question
Mari replied to jasonD2's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
A quick search for 'liver alt' brought up many websites which could answer your question. -
ARCHIVED Made In A Facility That Also Processes Wheat
Mari replied to sherrylynn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I avoid anything that may be cross contaminated because I'm sensitive to tiny amounts of gluten foods but other people who are less sensitive can use them. Washing beans with hot water and soaking overnight with 1 tablespoon of baking soda may help. Using sprouted grains and beans can be tolerated by some people, I can eat amaranth this way. There are websites... -
ARCHIVED Brain Fog And Seeming Dementia....
Mari replied to aderifield's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
What you describe, the fog, forgetting what I was going to say or unable to find words and all the rest has been a part of my life, too. Part of the problem has been stiffness in the muscles of my neck which hindered the blood flow to my brain so I have learned to relax and strengthen those muscles by massage and exercises. Whenever I'm exposed to certain... -
ARCHIVED Severe Bone Pain- Anyone Else?
Mari replied to BenVenit's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I remember having severe bone pains when I was a child but only occasionally as an adult. And I have had a lot of pain over the years from rigid and cramping muscles. I learned to adjust my diet to eat a balance of foods which leave my body slightly alkaline and I tend to become acid very easily. The taste of a food is not an indication of whether it will... -
ARCHIVED Gallbladder Issues Anyone...?
Mari replied to NorthernElf's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Some people are able to dislodge stuck stones by fasting followed by a dose of epsom salts and then taking one 300 mg Magnesium oxide capsule each day. some experts advise drinking 5 glasses of water a day, no coffee/tea or high sugar drinks or foods which are dehydrating. Magnesium relaxes the bile ducts. I also eat fresh grapefruit which has a similar effect... -
If you could get copies of your lab work - the gene test, the antibody tests - and post them here we may be able to tell what they mean and why the Dr thought the gene test was messed up. After 5 years gluten-free/cow df I still get tingles in my legs - it seems to be a reflection of muscle spams, cramped areas and trapped gas in my gut. The solar plexus...

I have Celiac Sprue and lots of liver spots. Exposure to sun does make tham darker and I can bleach out the color by taking parasite killing herbs - but the color comes back over time. Hulda Clark called these 'fluke spots' and from my years of experience in doing parasite exams in labs and further reading there is evidence that she was correct. One person...

If I eat too much fats or oils at one time I produce fatty stools. Part of my problem is that my body sometimes does not produce enough bile to emulsify the fats/oils so that they can be digested and don't produce enough pancreatic enzymes to digest them.

I get swelling in my ankles 2 to 3 days after eating cow's milk, even butter. I figured this out by eliminating cow's milk and later on a test showed I had ann allergy to cow's milk. With butter the swelling is mild and only in the ankles but larger amounts cause more swelling and continued use causes the lower leg to bloat. I can get the swelling to go down...

ARCHIVED My Skin Smells Like Smoke!
Mari replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Toxins will come out in our sweat and the oils we secrete from our subaceous glands. I have read that coconut oil can trap some pollutants/toxins and can be excreted in the skin. You could look up coconut oil and find out which types of toxins it trapsand find out other methods of getting those harmful toxins out of your body. -
ARCHIVED Breathing In Boiling Gluten
Mari replied to SuperMolly's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes - I was at a club dinner and there was a big pot of boiling spaghetti in the next room. I rapidly developed brain fog and left but had a miserable night. -
ARCHIVED Questions About Side Effects Of Celiac
Mari replied to LMM's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have found several simple sleep aids which I use. Peppermint tea is very soothing and calms down the intestinal tract - add the mint to boiling water and let steep for 5 or more minutes. The amino acid ornithine also helps people sleep, available in capsules. The spice turmeric - which I used for years - find instrunctions online. When I was younger I... -
ARCHIVED Could This Be Celiac?
Mari replied to hoot's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The light colored stools indicates that you have a partly blocked gall bladder and some of your other symptoms may be a result of this condition and a build-up of toxins in your liver and body. If you look at the Liver Flush Support forum at Curezone you will see what others are doing about this. -
ARCHIVED Blood Test Question
Mari replied to hercules25's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Saccharomyces is a yeast found in beer but it also is part of the normal flora of parasitic tapeworms so they can be carried into you by those parasites and overgrow. That you have eosinophils is an indication that you most likely are carrying some intestinal parasites - and this is a more common problem than some Drs think it is. You can go the medical... -
Glad you are back. I have one comment - I read that Fosamax, which I think is similar to the suppplement you are taking, is contraindicated for Celiacs. There was a thread on this and some people wrote that they got very sick when they took it. Vit D and calcium are the recommended supplements for Celiacs. Your blood tests may be negative since you have been...

A diet which can be used for an elimination diet and is nutritious is the gluten-free Specific Carbohydrate Diet. I and others on this forum have found this diet very helpful.

ARCHIVED Total And Complete Exhaustion
Mari replied to snow white's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi, I don't tolerate iron therapy so you might want to stop the iron for a while and see if the exhaustion decreases. Did your Dr do any tests to see if you have Celiac Disease? If you have been gluten free for a while the blood tests may be negative but there are fecal tests at Enterolab.com which are more sensitive than the blood tests. Sometimes people...
