  1. I have eaten several types many times and have no issues. Amy's is moving several of their gluten-free products to a dedicated facility or line (can't remember which!) in the future...
  2. So sorry Shirley...I will say a prayer for you today. Sounds like you two had a lot in common...
  3. Where do you guys get Ian's?
  4. pturse- Why did you end up going off the diet?
  5. Note that MAC's amplified cream lipsticks have wheat in them, and their lip conditioner. I used to use a host of brands, but now I only use Bare Escentuals. All their lipsticks (and makeup) are gluten-free and 'natural.' I like their lipstick--goes on smooth and is moisturizing. You can buy it on QVC or Sephora.
  6. Yup, stay away from that cereal--it does have oats, which are mostly likely contaminated in this country, even if pure oats don't give you a reaction.
  7. I was there last weekend and looked those things over--they looked good! Alas, I didn't buy one though, I am dairy-free too...
  8. Jen-yes, nuvaring does help prevent cysts. Granted I'm married and would do BC anyway, but cysts is why I went on BC 10 years ago--I had several rupture previously. The nuvaring may be intimidating to some, but I have several friends who love it too. You don't notice it, it stays in and is not a problem during you-know-what... Any other ?s

    ARCHIVED Amazing Stupidity

T-It is a pity about the insurance companies. I've learned much in the past year about how they and the pharmaceutical companies exert much will over the medical community. Guess we need to target them alongside the doctors with education etc... Hope your mom listens well to you and enjoys her care package

    ARCHIVED Amazing Stupidity

Tiffany-- That is flippin' crazy. Makes me crazy b/c there may be folks out there suffering or damaging themselves b/c they took that crazy advice!!
  11. Deb and Lynne- My heart really ached for both of you this morning when I read your posts here. Another reminder to me that we live in a broken world and that that brokeness carries over into creation, our body, our relationships... I yearn for the day when we can all be made whole. My hope though is that you two can experience glimpses of that in this...
  12. NUVARING! I was on ortho for 10 years...just switched to nuvaring that past year. I definitely prefer it. For one, it is absorbed directly in your bloodstream and the dose of hormones is much lower. So it might be a good fit for you. It can take your body several months to adjust to the pills though. However, ortho may not be a fit for you. One tip...
  13. I had high liver enzymes for years. That is very common with Celiacs. Most of the time they do return to normal after the gluten-free diet. Had mine cked a few weeks ago--back to normal. My albumin also came back slightly low, but I'm not aware of that being a problem for me at this point. Nice your employer pays!
  14. Robbin-- So you have been there? Its worth a stop? Also--good word on TJ Maxx! I will have to stop by and ck them out for le Creuset products. Thanks!
  15. I haven't seen their products anywhere around here, but was out of town and picked up a frosting mix. Anyone seen them online to buy?

    ARCHIVED So Yummy!

Oh, ps--so you live in Vegas? Last time I was there, Olives made me a gluten-free meal (Bellagio). Also ate at PF Changs and know there is an Outback there too--gluten-free menus at both. PS--Have you cked out the LV Celiac support group? If not, I think it might be a good help for you: Open Original Shared Link
  17. Tiffany—Have any good recipes that include buckwheat flour to share?
  18. Another question to ask yourself if you are having issues with chocolate--can you tolerate caffeine?
  19. LOVE LOVE LOVE my Le Creuset products. I have several, just got a grill pan for Christmas--fun for meats or vegetables. But my FAVORITE of all their products is their french/dutch ovens. IMO, an essential cooking piece for people who love to cook. One of the few pieces that goes from stove to oven. Great for braising, soups, stews etc. etc. I highly...

    ARCHIVED So Yummy!

I agree with Tiffany, chances are that you did get gluten in that meal. Don't worry about being different, everyone is "different" sooner or later! It is the job of the folks in the restaurant to prepare something you can eat. They are there to serve, so don't be embarassed and ask up. I know you talked about having some issues with feeling different...
  21. So glad you're feeling better. Have fun cereal shopping
  22. Oops! Well I have a bag of it I haven't used yet and you aren't enticing me to try! I think perhaps Tiffany has used buckwheat flour before? But not sure...
  23. Some of this has already been said...but don't be bashful--say you have severe food allergies and can not have any wheat, barley, rye, oats or any ingredients derived from them. I think it is important to state all of these, not just wheat. Also state as IronedOut said that all the pans, grills and utensils used to cook your food must be clean and your...
  24. We can't always rely on our symptoms to indicate what is occuring inside our bodies...
  25. Tell her not to be embarrassed! Fact is everyone poops, get diarrhea at times, farts etc... I do understand though... Our bathroom is in our office, so I see everyone go in and come out... I go more than once a day usually and I'd say people in my office are going everyday too! And how would her coworkers know whether she is going #1 or #2 when she...
