ARCHIVED No Cooker Looking For Easy Gluten Out
eatmeat4good replied to outlaw-525's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I don't like to cook either but found it is absolutely necessary to have food done and ready to eat. So I fill the cookie sheet 3 times on the weekends. Once with burgers. Second with chicken breasts. Third with Nestletollhousecookies made with gluten free flour. Then I make a pot of Basmati rice. There's my son's food for a week. These are stored... -
I don't think I'm "ultra-sensitive"....I think I'm "Celiac". The medical literature says even traces of gluten can make a Celiac sick. It doesn't say only "ultra-sensitive" Celiacs will get sick from traces of gluten. To the OP, you will find out if you are sensitive to products made in a facility that also processes wheat. Some people find they are and...

You can live 47 years without knowing you are Celiac. That's the only research I have. And yes, I'm an American who will spend the rest of my life trying to pay for the "medical care" I had during the sickest years. But eating doesn't cost as much as it used to. We only "treat" once a week or so. The rest of the time it's meat, fruit, vegetables and...

Welcome! Yes, these places are difficult when you are new to being gluten free. My first trip to the fair resulted in my negotiating with myself that I could eat the frozen chocolate dipped cheesecake on a stick if I was very, very, careful not to eat the graham cracker crust! OMG!! Some lessons just have to be learned the hard way. Now I eat before...

ARCHIVED Powerade
eatmeat4good replied to RonSchon's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I let my son drink it. He hasn't had a reaction. He only drinks the red and the blue one. He has drank it after wrestling practice every day for 7 months. It's summer now so he's drinking Kool-aid. He gets really sick and feels like glass is in his stomach if he gets gluten. He's not had a reaction from Powerade. Hope you figure out what got you. ... -
ARCHIVED Food Allergy Trials
eatmeat4good replied to Lfrost's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Both Salicylate Sensitivities and Gluten can cause night terrors. Google shows the peanuts and grapes would be salicylates but the bread would be gluten. You may have two culprits. Or not. Just wanted you to know. Salicylate food sensitivities site: Open Original Shared Link I wish you the best and commend you on doing this. I wish I had done... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free And Constipated
eatmeat4good replied to jenhunter's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
For a natural laxative drink a big dose of olive oil. You can mix it with orange juice or whatever...it doesn't taste bad at all, and it won't hurt you a bit...and it WILL make you go! You can drink 2 ounces every few hours if you need to. It really isn't gonna hurt anything and some people I know drink 2 ounces a day as a shot...just because it is good for... -
ARCHIVED Primal Blueprint
eatmeat4good replied to ~**caselynn**~'s topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I haven't read the book, but I learned all I needed to know from Sisson's website. Mark's Daily Apple.com. I went Paleo after a whole year of being gluten free. As soon as I went Paleo my recovery was fast and my weight stabilized and my muscles improved in tone and response. I was amazed. In May I went off Paleo because I wanted to splurge on... -
ARCHIVED Do You Think Everyone Has Celiacs?
eatmeat4good replied to 1974girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm still telling everyone to get checked for Celiac...2 years into the gluten-free diet. But then I was sick for 7 years and I would have been grateful if anyone ever suggested it might have been Celiac. I don't think you are wrong to do that. If 90% of Celiacs are undiagnosed it makes the odds pretty good that you will alleviate someone's misery by telling... -
ARCHIVED Before You Knew It Was Gluten...?
eatmeat4good replied to heathenly's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes, whenever I played susie homemaker and baked bread I would end up feeling like a truck hit me and I would go to bed early and wake with a migraine headache. I felt like I had worked in construction instead of baked bread for my family. I don't know how I didn't figure it out sooner. But I didn't. I have sudden memories from childhood of dizziness and... -
ARCHIVED Suspected Dh, Is It Worth Going To Doc Or Just Wait It Out
eatmeat4good replied to Christine0125's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Mine took a year and a half to clear up. Gluten free and iodine limiting...but it worked. Most of my rashes looked exactly like mosquito bites. Could never figure out why I got mosquito bites in the winter and no one else did. Dr. said spider bites, acne, fungus, virus, bacteria, and then neurotic excoriation. If this is DH and you avoid gluten it should... -
ARCHIVED Soy Allergy?
eatmeat4good replied to ShannonA's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Oh Shannon....I'm so happy for you and for your children that you figured this out!! I too, had 25 Dr.'s, rheumatologists, dermatologists, internists, psychiatrist, physician assistants, and 3 emergency room trips before I found c.com and the answer. Thankfully I have my life back! You will too! Even though it's too soon to know what all of your secondary... -

ARCHIVED Claussen Pickles Or Mayo?
eatmeat4good replied to Lindseybsmith's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm thinking soy....like GFinDC said. I had the same issue. Couldn't believe it was soy too. Hard to figure that out. I use Earth Balance mayo. They make one with soy too now, but the original version is soy free. It's pretty good too. -
ARCHIVED A Newbie With Lots Of Questions!
eatmeat4good replied to Alexa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Alexa! Welcome! So happy she is feeling better! It's wonderful you listened to your friend and tried it out! I'm not one to encourage testing if you already know gluten is a problem for you. However, some people really, really, want an official diagnosis. My experience was like yours in trying to find answers. Dr.'s were not helpful at all... -
ARCHIVED Prospect Of Being Celiac Is Getting Me Down
eatmeat4good replied to Oneiros's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hey! Welcome! Depression is one of the symptoms of Celiac that might go away if it is from Celiac. I hate to tell you this but.... Being gluten free will make you test negative. You have to eat gluten to have the antibodies to test postive. I hate saying that because I'm sure not recommending you eat gluten. But what happens is some people go... -
ARCHIVED I Am Sick. Undiagnosed. Confused. Concerned.
eatmeat4good replied to asickdaddy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I totally agree with GFinDC. I think your body and your mind have been screaming for you to get rid of gluten. I am a DH Celiac. Dermatitis Herpetiformis. Your rash and your neurological symptoms can be Celiac. Forget about the diagnosis. You need your life back. People with DH tend to be very sensitive to traces of gluten. Symptoms can continue without... -
ARCHIVED Recovery Time
eatmeat4good replied to wayneglutzky's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hey! Welcome to Celiac High School! Congratulations on your diagnosis! You should be feeling better and better the longer you are gluten free! You can have some lingering digestive issues as your body heals and it isn't anything to worry about. I was undiagnosed for 8 years and it took about 3 months for things to settle down in terms of digestion. The... -
ARCHIVED Weirdest Skin Thing Happened Today
eatmeat4good replied to GlutenFreeAustinite's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Dh hurts like hell, burns, stings, can be linear, symmetrical, or mosquito bite like in appearance. Can be itchy or not. I was diagnosed with impetigo many times....guess what? It wasn't. It just doesn't make sense. Impetigo is easily treated by antibiotics. I bet you have DH. It doesn't have to itch. It can just hurt like the devil. It can flare and... -
ARCHIVED Can Someone Explain The Iodine Thing?
eatmeat4good replied to LindsayS's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I'm so sorry to hear about your cancer. You posted about a cancer return in another thread and I cringed for you thinking that I hoped it was not Celiac related Lymphoma. I see now that it isn't lymphoma, but for all the years you have struggled with DH, I sure am sorry you had this happen. You help people so much with your posts about DH. I for one have... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Taking A Vitamin B12 Supplement?
eatmeat4good replied to josh052980's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Check the ingredients. You could be salicylate sensitive. If they have food coloring in them...and most do....you might have had a sal reaction. ...just something to consider...in case. google salicylate food sensitivities and look at the symtoms there. This will help you know. I wish my B 12 would do that to me. I'm scrounging for energy all the time... -
ARCHIVED Does This Look Familiar?
eatmeat4good replied to ameslaw84's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
You have two very perfect pictures of DH. I would bet my gluten free bread that you are a Celiac. The descriptions of blisters with multiple excoriations from the painful itching...this is clearly evident from your pictures and from your descriptions. Yours is on your knee...it can be anywhere...but the literature usually says it is on knees, elbows, and... -
ARCHIVED Acne From Gluten?
eatmeat4good replied to CeliacFashionista's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
If you have DH, Dermatitis Herpetiformis, the Skin form of Celiac, then you may have to limit iodine in your diet. Thyca.com can help you limit iodine. It still allows the minimum of iodine as we all need a certain amount but the amount we actually need is quite small. Limiting iodine is temporiary if you have DH. You limit it until your lesions have all... -
ARCHIVED Kraft And Cross-Contamination O.0
eatmeat4good replied to cavernio's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I remember when I was new at being gluten free. It was a shock to find out that no gluten ingredients did not necessarily mean no gluten CC. Gluten CC is always a possibility if it isn't made in a dedicated facility. But I still find it helpful to ask people what they use and what brands they trust. I don't really want the legal definition the company...
