It doesn't happen everytime but when I click on a post it appears to come up with a blank screen (except for the Celiac.com heading) - but when I scroll down the thread is all squashed up on the left hand side??? It doesn't happen all the time...it seems to be random...and not on the same threads either.Sometimes they come up ok ( with full screen) but...

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
nikki-uk replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Took me a while to figure that out too,- then I couldn't remember my email address as it's not one I usually use but I worked it out in the end! Does anyone know why when I clicked to go back to the previous page ( scary I know) to read yesterdays posts they come up far down the page all squashed up on the left hand side?? -
My hubby has alway's felt the cold more than most - and I always thought it was because he had no 'meat on his bones' ! Since his dx of celiac disease (2 yrs ago) he's a good weight now but still frozen all the time when everyone else is ok. Funny thing is he always feels hot to touch (like a glowing fire!)- even though he feels cold.

Yes!, by definition celiac disease is villous atrophy of the small bowel...but gluten sensitivity can make you feel just as ill. -
I'm sure there are people on this board who don't have the 'main' genes for celiac disease but who are gluten sensitive that had neurological problems. I also think they have HLA DQ1 gene which seems to be associated with more of the neurological effects. I'm sure someone will chime in

ARCHIVED English Oats
nikki-uk replied to jennyj's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just to add,- just because the Oats are English doesn't mean they are ok. I'm in the UK and neither my hubby or son have Oats (we have the same contamination risks as in the US) Laura's given you some great links and I reckon the 'oat debate' will rumble on!! It's a personal choice as to whether you would ever want to try them but for my hubby... -

Parents are always hard to buy for aren't they?? When I asked my Mum + Dad what to get they say 'Oh don't worry about us'( ) Anyway - I ended up getting them a digital thermometer/barometer (my Mum's obsessed by how cold it is!) and I also got my Mum a new glass vase and Dad some wool socks (well at least he'll get use out of them! ) -
ARCHIVED Platelets
nikki-uk replied to loraleena's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks Loraleena. I'm not sure what my hubby's platelet numbers were but the doc said (other than the scan) he will just see him again in January to keep an eye on his levels.I don't think they can be that bad as he doesn't even seem to have any bruises! I just dreaded another auto-immune diagnosis! -

Thanks for the links. Interesting stuff! My brother's 4 yr old son has just been dx as being on the 'autistic spectrum'.( Although celiac disease runs from my hubby's side) I'm going to try and broach the subject of 'diet' and 'autism' with him (not sure how he'll take it!)

ARCHIVED Platelets
nikki-uk replied to loraleena's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My husband went to see a haemotologist today as he has consistently had low platelets for the last few months. He was originally referred by his Rheumatologist as the low platelet count co-incided with him taking a new drug for his Psoriatic Arthritis. Unfortunately - although the drug worked wonders with his joints he was adviced to stop taking it... -

Hi Kate - I'm in the UK also. My husband had a negative tTg but a positive biopsy (all courtesy of the NHS!) A small number of coeliacs have Seronegative celiac disease (I think around 3%) My hubby was in hospital for a month whilst they tried to find out what was wrong - they knew the bloods come back negative for celiac disease but went ahead... -
